I had the same one but returned it because the battery life was not very good....is that your experience?

You should've just got it replaced instead of claim your money back. Probably your machine had an issue, or perhaps it even was just software.

I don't know anybody with the 13" MBP, Touch Bar or not, who complains about battery life or anything really. Including myself. Honestly the best Mac I ever owned.

15" is a different story, some people seem to have battery life issues on that.

That's what I thought...

1. They didn't grew only 4%

2. Nobody will care for MSOffice because it's a monopoly.

Meanwhile, the Surface sales went down 26% y/y in revenue....... OUCH!

Ahaha! MsVerge... they are just simply ridiculous, like when they rated the AWatch significantly worse than the Moto 270

https://i.redd.it/oc3bcvu2ubuy.jpg

I really don't know why you're acting like the Verge leas more towards one over the other. People say the same thing about Verge and Apple. In reality, they have specialized writers probably for both camps, and because of the big releases lately, they'll have ludicrous articles for both sides to draw in readers. Nothing more complicated.

Or maybe, I don't know, this might sound crazy and I might be considered a die hard fanboy for saying this, but perhaps the MacBook Pro 2016 actually is a good laptop that people really enjoy?

Well that's obviously not true. If anyone looks at a Razer Blade laptop and then actually believes Apple is selling a good laptop, they're brainwashed and self-deluded.

They may well buy the 2016 MBP because they're vested in MacOS and the ecosystem, but if they've looked at the windows offerings and don't know they're buying a vastly inferior product at an insane ripoff price, there's something wrong with them.

Also, I really don't understand who the target market is for the 2016 MBP. If you prioritize thin, sleek, and limited ports, the MB is a better choice and a heck of a lot cheaper. If you want a capable machine to get things done, the 2015 MBP beats the 2016 in every way and is also a heck of a lot cheaper. The 2016 MBP just does nothing for people who want capable machine and is overpriced and bulky for people want a toy to carry with them.

Haha, love it. We grew 4% and made money. So everything is fine. I mean Microsoft Office sales grew 15% in the last quarter, so hey that product is also awesome. Nothing to complain about there either.
Sales numbers and product quality do not always correlate. Prime example: Micro$oft Windows.

Honestly I am DYING to buy one of the new MacBook Pro's but I just can't stand an awful crappy AMD graphics card.

Dear Apple, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE switch to Nvidia for your high end laptops and the Mac Pro. The difference between Nvidia and AMD has been getting starker every year. The power efficiency of Nvidia's Pascal chipset is amazing for laptops.

It’s the only reason why I bought one. I was holding off as long as I could waiting for new models. I still miss the escape key.
[doublepost=1494008473][/doublepost]

Dongles don't bother me. I'd rather have USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 and deal with dongles. What really bothered me was the extra $400 compared to previous models. I definitely don't think the touchbar which I barely use was worth an extra $400.

Yep, I'm fine with the product as it is, the only problem I had was effectively being charged £700 for a touch bar I didn't really need. I ordered the 'old' model (more than enough spec for my needs) before the keynote had finished.

I'd wait until the fall to see what Apple comes up with, but what are the chances they'll add more ports, magsafe, an SD slot, and removable storage? Pretty close to zero.

Yup. My guess is a speedbumped MBP with latest Skylake processor, maybe a slight price drop and a 32gb version to appease some Pro users.

Other than that, you can bet the port and form factor is staying the same and firmly sealed shut.

Did they break out sales of 2016 Macbook Pros separately? It's very possible that the new MBP spurred a massive run on 2015 MBPs.

"We had great Mac results during the quarter. Revenue grew 14 percent to a new March quarter record, and we gained market share thanks to strong demand for our new MacBook Pros."

Since when is a 2015 model a new MBP? Tim Cook wouldn't be commenting like this if the increase was due to people buying refurbished 2 year old machines. Of course I know people here want to believe the new MBPs are a major failure but just because that's what you want doesn't make it so.

Pretty much goes to show you that the outrage over USB-C/TB3 is pretty much angry nerds online and doesn't correlate to the general public.

I don't know, I showed my wife the 2016 in the store. Her first reaction was sticker shock over the price difference from the 2015. When I showed her the ports and said I either need to replace all my USB sticks with special more expensive ones or buy adaptors she asked how it was possible for Apple to be so stupid.

I pointed out the lack of magsafe and that was a deal breaker for her. She trips over my MBP cord at least once a week (totally my fault but not a huge deal with magsafe).

Then I asked her to try out the keyboard. She just walked away shaking her head at Apple and didn't want to hear any more.

Revenue is up partly because they sold a record number of 2015 MBPs from the refurbished store upon announcement of the new MBP. Read that recent interview they did about their plans for an overhauled MacPro, they spoked about their "surprise" in seeing the old MBP sales skyrocketing.
source for this?

Sales were up only 4% after such a long pent-up demand cycle? That doesn't seem very healthy to me.

While many MacRumors posters seem to buy based on specs (per their posts), the general public perhaps does not so they were not explicitly waiting for a Skylake MacBook Pro. As such, the bump might very well have been mostly those who wanted the "latest hardware".

But those refurbished models sell at a 10-15% discount on average - and that's at the old list pricing. A 4% increase in discounted cheaper MacBook Pros would not result in a 25% increase in revenues. That the revenue bump was so large on such a low volume increase is proof enough that it was the TouchBar MacBook Pros that were what was selling as their revenues are much higher (due to the much higher average sale price).

Hopefully as time goes on more and more applications will make use of it so that the extra price becomes more of a value proposition than it admittedly is right now.

The article you're posting in?...

"Kuo also mentioned a "15-inch MacBook" that would include 32GB of RAM and enter mass production in the early fourth quarter, which starts in September. He said the model would be "the most significantly redesigned product this year," and he believes it will adopt desktop-class RAM to satisfy high-end users.
"
Kuo doesn't know jack. He's speculating based on the hissy fit "pros" threw when the new machines came out and didn't offer 32GB RAM option. Anyone could have speculated that the next 15" MBP would come with a 32GB option.

Was tempted but realised my 2015 macbook pro is still great and with no touch ID unlocking with my apple watch sort of makes up for this.

If anyone does know, it honestly would be Kuo as he seems to have really deep links to Apple's supply chain. That being said, I agree with you that Kaby Lake and maybe a move back to standard SODIMMs to allow 32GB (or even 64GB) are not really prescient guesses. :)
