was that even said?Yep, all around agree. And now they using a page off the Microsoft playbook. "We sold XXX, so everything is fine" nonsense.
and if so, in what context was it said?

Neither you nor the Verge are in a position to distinguish a strong product from pent up demand. There were lots of people who needed laptops and were holding off on a purchase because the 2015 models were so long in the tooth. Time will tell whether the strong sales are maintained. But The Verge isn't the only place where people are expressing disappointment in the product. So much for The Verge's "failed product" narrative.
With the sales of iOS Devices what they have been, it is completely understandable that Apple has gotten a bit "distracted", somewhat to the detriment of Mac Development (but not nearly to the point that the Haters claim).Hopefully this is paranoia speaking, but I wonder if Apple is secretly disappointed that it’s laptop sales are still strong while iPad sales are receding. Apple clearly prefers to make consumer products—products for recreation and consuming services rather than for productivity or enterprise. The iPad was their futurist vision of a consumer PC. Mind you, I love mine for casual uses. Alas, some customers still want productivity tools. Enough, apparently, that Apple can’t dismiss us after all.
I heard a rumor that Apple is already starting design development on the next Mac Pro. It will be release in 2020 and will be close to the same shape and size as the current Mac Pro, will be more proprietary however!Very nice kick in the **** lol.
Apple dropped the ball in productivity and focused in leisure. Just to read their comments on how much they realized they failed with the "new" mac pro... and it took them 3 years to realize it.
If the 2015 was such a non-upgrade (you brought it up), then why are all the "I'm too smart to buy the 2016, so I'll buy the 2015 instead" doing that? Many didn't consider the 2015 an update, hence the pent-up demand for what Apple finally delivered in 2016. And Apple doesn't have any problem with all the logistics you cite for products they're more interested in keeping competitive like the iPhone.
What "way behind tech" would that be? I need a list; so I can refute it point-by-point.Maybe I'm not making a connection here, but wouldn't that late-2016 TB still pretty much have 3+ year old technology in 2016 prices?
Seems like the rip off is just shifted a bit. Yeah, not $400 for the TouchBar but you're still paying for way behind tech w/ the addition of losing neat Pro features (MagSafe & stuff).
I picked one up. Two things: the Touchbar hasn't been as useful as I was hoping. It's fine. It's even an improvement over the standard function keys, but I'm not convinced its utility is able to justify the cost/tech/effort of having a touch strip above my keyboard. I hope they continue to develop it and improve on its utility because, as I said, it is actually better than what came before.... just not a HUGE enough improvement to justify all the engineering yet. Software will, I hope, catch up.
This is also the best laptop I've ever used. I'm with Apple with this journey to the future where all my peripherals are wireless, my screen is amazing, the keyboard became my favourite ever after 2 days of use, the trackpad is brilliant, and yes.... even the function row is slightly better. It's a fast, powerful machine that feels like the future... it's thin, sleek, gorgeous. It's a little too pricey, but I've since earned many times its cost by using it. It's a really solid release.

Until you look at the price. With the current MacBook trends, I don't think I will re-up with Apple with my next machine between 2018 and 2020. The new Surface looks nice though.
32GB of RAM is not a "major redesign", and it's just a rumor.
There is a cost to transitioning to USB C no doubt, but that should not be used as an excuse to dig in your heels and stubbornly refusing to change.

How many adaptors you want to use, is ultimately up to you.

The 2016 model has a better display, better keyboard, a touch bar (for good or bad), larger and arguably better trackpad, better processor and thinner body as well as dedicated graphics in all 15" MacBook Pro models. I'd argue that it's way better than the 2015 model. The only way the 2015 beats the 2016 model is the price and legacy ports.
The thing is, a normal consumer doesnt give 2 f**ks about the newest tech. Theyre about looks and ability to perform their daily tasks like email and safari.Who would've guessed it, release new products that aren't 4 years out of date and sales go up...incredible!
Seriously though, this just highlights how much money Apple is missing out on right now. If their whole Mac lineup was up to date rather than just one product, they could be making a loooot more...
click the hotlink in that paragraph.. note date of article"He also said new 12-inch MacBook models would enter production in the spring"
What does that even mean? Isn't USA already in the middle of Spring? Or is he talking China time?

I love comments like this. Apparently, the only reason I like this machine is because I'm brainwashed and self-deluded.
