Following today's media event that saw Apple revealing two new iPhones, a wearable device, and its payments initiative, Tim Cook did an exclusive one-on-one interview with ABC News' David Muir.

In a clip of the interview shared by ABC News, Muir asks Cook if he was thinking about Steve Jobs' during today's event, which took place at the Flint Center at De Anza College, the same location where Jobs unveiled the original Mac in 1984. Cook responded that he thinks of Jobs all the time, and that he believes Jobs would be "incredibly proud" to see the company today.

I think about Steve a lot. I love Steve dearly. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of him. This morning, being here, I especially thought about him and I think he would be incredibly proud to see the company that he left us -- which I think was one of his greatest gifts to mankind, the company itself -- be doing what it's doing today. I think he's smiling right now.
Jobs apparently was not aware that an Apple Watch was coming, as Apple began work on the device after his passing. According to Cook, though, the "foundation" that Jobs left can be seen in all of the work that Apple is doing today.

His thinking and his taste and his incredible perfectionist kind of view, and his view that you should always innovate, all of those things are alive and well in the company. And I think they always will be. I think his DNA will always be the foundation of Apple.
More of Tim Cook's exclusive interview with David Muir will be available on World News Tonight later today.

Same innovation, more listening to market's wishes (smaller tablets, bigger phones).

Sorry not seeing it, more a cheap way to get some reference to Jobs.

I'm not the biggest fan of the look of the watch....but watching the Jony video (aside from the annoying-ness of his words to make even the simplest thing sound sophisticated), the technology in the watch really is impressive.

I also think Apple's real home run will be the fact that many buyers will probably purchase several bands for it.

I was really happy to hear they brought back Steve's "one more thing". I truly thought Apple did wonderful with this event and wish them luck in future events.

"makes history"

lol
omg i knew it. the media whoring of this company is unbearable.
even when they release a inferior product.

Nice touching words from Tim, especially true about the company being Steve's gift to mankind...Nice

Regrettably I don't think the Apple Watch is something Steve would have liked in any way whatsoever. It seems self-indulgent and has a user interface comparable to that of a classroom projector.

I'm not hating -- I really thought Apple would pull something out of the bag, especially with all the hype. This is essentially a glorified Samsung Gear. It was at the moment when I saw the crowd go wild over something I just couldn't see as groundbreaking, that I felt a sinking 'I might be in a cult' moment. Had Samsung introduced the exact same product, we'd be laughing rather than considering jumping ship.

Just my $0.02.

Does this mean they're putting a time capsule in the bottom of the new HQ with some of his hair?

Interesting ... Steve didn't know about the watch. So from idea to actual product it took less than 3 years.

I think this event was amazing. Seems like Apple has really gotten its groove back since Steve passed and I think today's event was exactly that way Steve would have done it.

Is this still an apple fan site? Just asking because there is so much bitching going on here today in the comments...

Lets be honest - I dont think Apple really wanted to make a smart watch. They had to bring it in some form and at least announce it, if not the apple board would be really unhappy. Everyone wants new products and Apple was just doing what Apple was good at making iphones, ipads and macs everytime a little better and a really nice system around it. The watch isnt going to revolutionize it.

Apple need a new CEO after watching apple watch and iPhone 6. Steve gave us the best of the best but Tim is trying only to get us pay more.

Steve Jobs appointing Tim Cook as Apple CEO before his death was like dropping a big nasty fart in the elevator before walking out of it, leaving us behind stuck with the smell.

Tim is telling the truth. I've compared the genotypes of both Steve Jobs and an apple; the former is clearly based on the latter.

We need a new CEO after watching apple watch and iPhone 6. Steve gave us the best of the best but Tim is trying to get us pay more.

I think this has a lot more to do with Ive's self-indulgence. TC isn't a designer and in a sense that's not what a CEO should do. But Ive now has free roam over OS & hardware UI. There's nobody there to tell him 'this looks like ****' or 'you should rethink that'.

This isn't even constructive criticism because I have no idea of Apple's inner workings and can't suggest how they'd fix it.

Before the Apple Watch I'd have said they're fine. But the Apple Watch is disturbingly ... un-Apple.
