Is this still an apple fan site? Just asking because there is so much bitching going on here today in the comments...

Correct. Oddly enough, it's because it's an Apple fan site that people get bitchy like this. It's because of the respect of the company that people get emotionally invested in Apple, and have some bad things to say when odd products are announced or mistakes happen.

'Apple fan site' should in no way connote 'praise everything Apple ever release'.

Jobs apparently was not aware that an Apple Watch was coming, as Apple began work on the device after his passing.
Sadly, I can believe this. The watch is ugly. If this watch were instead released by Sony, or whoever, MR forum members would be laughing and poking fun at it's square shape and continue to salivate over an alleged forthcoming iWatch that was more aesthetically pleasing.

On an unrelated note, at least this shuts all of the people up who were continually angry everyone discussed a product that "doesn't exist" and "may never exist." Good god they were annoying.

But what happened to Steve leaving Apple with a four year product pipeline?
I'm sorry to inform you that that was to prevent the stock price from tanking. Lest we forget, Steve Jobs finally cracked the Apple Television that never saw the light of day. Guess he never cracked it.

I'm going to start a site called MacRumorsRumors.com, which will be a blog about the predictions surrounding MacRumors. It'll consist mainly of the following:

- MacRumors will post a lot of phones-in-the-grass pics
- MacRumors forums will be filled with disgust, negative hyperbole, and countless phrases similar to "Steve would never..."

I hate it when comments like this are right. I don't want Apple to fail.

iPhone 6 was great -- it'll sell like nothing else. But the Apple Watch just has a sniff of 'the beginning of the end'.

Steve Jobs was behind some ugly products, too. Not everything the guy did was perfect.

I'm not saying he would've given approval to the Apple Watch, or even thought it looked good, but the man was human and made mistakes, too.

Lets be honest - I dont think Apple really wanted to make a smart watch. They had to bring it in some form and at least announce it, if not the apple board would be really unhappy. Everyone wants new products and Apple was just doing what Apple was good at making iphones, ipads and macs everytime a little better and a really nice system around it. The watch isnt going to revolutionize it.
They've been developing this thing for years now. Hell at the D10 conference a few years ago Cook was clearly hinting at the device with his talk of sensors.

The S1 is a marvel in itself. Frankly, no one dumps the hundreds of millions of R&D and manufacturing logistics into a product they aren't looking to go whole hog on.

Too many bashers here today

Come on folks! This is Apple. They innovate & make everybody else copy & play catch-up. After today they'll be doing more only faster & their products will be like always - "close, but no cigar."

Look at The Amazon Fire and many other products out there that "wanna be like Mike."

Give them time. :)

It's going to be an awesome holiday season, especially as soon as the iPad Air refresh & a few other items get their updates. Chill :apple:

I think this has a lot more to do with Ive's self-indulgence. TC isn't a designer and in a sense that's not what a CEO should do. But Ive now has free roam over OS & hardware UI. There's nobody there to tell him 'this looks like ****' or 'you should rethink that'.

This isn't even constructive criticism because I have no idea of Apple's inner workings and can't suggest how they'd fix it.

Before the Apple Watch I'd have said they're fine. But the Apple Watch is disturbingly ... un-Apple.

You summed up exactly how I feel. I Don't know what I should do. The iPhone 6 looks really solid, but after the watch, I felt like I should jump ship. History is starting to repeat itself.

If anything, he is rolling in his grave. I feel that while Apple was rumored to be producing a smart watch, all the competitors beat apple to the market and then apple got started on the product. It doesn't seem much fancier and more magical than the other guy's watch. Probably the driving force behind it and health book and this watch is that Tim is a fitness freak, and had them make all this stuff.

But why a watch? What's so special about it that I should spend $350 on it? What does it do better my iPhone? Why is this $350 product an accessory and not a standalone device? Oh that's right, it doesn't do anything different. The iPad could surf the web, email, etc just like an iPhone, or iPod, but did so in a way that was better.

If anything, it's just another window into your iPhone.

I sorta disagree there.

I think that Apple had considered "smart wearables" for some years now. After all, isn't THAT what Apple is legendary for? Naturally mixing design(fashion) with technology?

Not sure how Jobs (as many issues that dude had) would feel about Apple releasing two versions of the iPhone Galaxy, killing the only iPod that has a meaningful size, force feeding Apple's clients some stupid album form one of the most overrated bands in history, and "beautifying" the operating systems without addressing some serious issues first.

I'm pretty disgusted with all this and very much regret right now having spent thousands of dollars on having moved my complete household over to Apple. With all this junk I might as well have stayed with Microsoft. At least then I wouldn't have to go now and delete music by Boner and has palls.

I'm sure when Apple released a phone people thought that was also disturbingly un-Apple too. :D

Don't worry, at least it was better than this!

People need to get a grip.

1) stop the Jobs talk, if you never knew the guy then you know jack about what he would think and feel. Even his friends on record say it was hard to read Steve.

2) the iPhones though not the best looking are fine especially as most put them in cases anyway and te technology ( camera aside maybe ) is genuinely good.

3) the Apple WATCH looks great, people are expecting a watch to look like a mini phone. Apple has targete this thing for 3 markets an have nailed it. The only things I am unsure on is the UI bubbles being accessible and lack of call information of pairing with phone and what distances we need. Also can or can you not reply to an email from within the watch.

Bravo Tim. Bravo Apple.

People get too hung up on specs. Who cares if the phone has 1gig or ram. As long as it runs well. Android needs more ram to operate properly. The less ram a OS uses the less it will have a strain on battery life.

326ppi, who cares as long as the screen looks great. Can your eyes tell the difference. No. I care more about screen quality, contrast, black levels than anything else.

Compare a plasma 1080P screen to a 4K led and than get back to me. Every hear of the Pioneer Kuro?

The iwatch looks great. If you don't like it don't get one. Simple as that.

I don't like that apple didn't upgrade the battery in the 4.7 iphone. Their fascination with thinness over function I don't like at all. Other than that good job Apple. :)

steve jobs would never have let IOS7 out the door with as many bugs as it continues to have. the other day my iphone (7.1.2) was displaying keyboards in portrait mode when in landscape mode.

I don't think the Apple Watch or iPhone 6 will be considered revolutionary. Today, 3 technologies were introduced that are, and hopefully, hint at things to come.

1) The entire computer is printed on a single chip. This is a big deal for Apple. Power savings and efficiency on a tiny chip. Think about where that is headed.

2) A flexible sapphire, touch display. Will the iPad be getting a pressure sensitive display as well?

3) Secure data storage on a stand-alone encrypted chip. Will Apple cut off the NSA from spying on their customers?

Regrettably I don't think the Apple Watch is something Steve would have liked in any way whatsoever. It seems self-indulgent and has a user interface comparable to that of a classroom projector.
I can imagine Steve saying:
"I gave the best years of my life to liberating people from having to wear a watch like a manacle - and you did what?! Geez, Tim, if you had to do it, why isn't a standalone product? If you need to make a phone accessory, just fix the phone."
