I have to disagree, the switch to Apple Silicon alone was a risk and it has been going very well.
I don't see that as a risk at all. I see that as a necessity that revitalized a dwindling product. It was 5+ years in development, while being fed from Apple's already wildly successful and proven Apple Silicon department. With Rosetta 2, there is no concern with app compatibility. With something that blows the doors off in the speed department, there is no concern about developer adoption.

If Twitter removes the note that the tweet was with an iPhone or android, Apple might not look at it so friendly anymore. It was a free marketing tool for Apple before …

Why are they asking Tim Cook about Twitter? What do they expect him to say? Why should we care what he thinks about Twitter?
I’m guessing it’s related to what happened with Parler. The comment about hate speech is amusing. Though they may have a policy and claim to moderate, Twitter is flush with hate speech.

Cook is the CEO of a major tech company. Twitter is one of Apple's customers, Apple is one of Twitter's customers (although Apple's ad agency has recommended its clients at least temporarily pull ads). In more ways than one, Twitter is a hot news story right now.

Changing processor architecture is always a risk, just because it works the way you expect it to work does not change that. The biggest risk I feel will be the Mac Pro switch and that is most likely why it is taking so long. Along with that, they also took the risk knowing that a lot of people depend on BootCamp and native Windows compatibility.

This feature already seems dated to me. Satellites should just give you standard mobile service anywhere you are without the need for any special feature. ... and they will.

I agree! It's been a very long time since Apple has introduced any new products (that were not in the market) under Tim Cook. Tim Cook's focus is not much on introducing new Apple products. He is not seemed to be product-focused. He is more into services. It will be interesting to see how AR/VR will play in the market under his leadership.

That's a possibility but I don't think he will be leaving anytime soon. The whole Apple's leadership has changed so much and Cook and Eddy Cue are pretty much the only ones left. I'm not sure if Craig will be the one taking the role of the CEO.
What about Joz? He’s been at Apple longer than Eddy Cue — started in 1986! I always thought Forstall might have been groomed for the CEO position. Right now, Craig and Joz seem like the best option to replace Tim (as a CEO duo).

Really don't want Joz to take a role as the CEO of Apple. Tim Cook is way better than Joz, LOL. Did you get to see his interview? Don't forget to scroll down to the comments. People are not happy with him.

I have a feeling it will be Mr. Luca Maestri who will become the next CEO of Apple. I could be wrong tho. But rest assured Tim Cook isn't leaving anytime soon.

When an Accountant becomes CEO of any company, ‘profits at any cost’ always becomes the main driver of the business, instead of products and consumers. The company ends up losing it soul. I have seen it happen to numerous companies!!

Even though Tim Cook has done well, you can see Apple’s DNA slowly eroding away. You sense with today’s Apple that profit is gaining more importance, instead of ‘thinking different’ philosophy built under SJ.

I sincerely pray that Luca never ever becomes the CEO of Apple.

I did watch the interview and thought Joz did a great job. He’s a straight shooter, without fluff, and I like that. Craig was great in the interview too, as always. The two of them have their own unique style — that is why I thought a dual CEO role might make sense, though the concept is unusual.

Luca as CEO is an interesting thought — he is 59 though, so already close to Tim’s age. And Jeff Williams is 59 as well.

Scott Forestall is 53, but I think Apple blew it by letting him go.

Craig is the youngest out of the bunch, and would be my choice as a sole CEO.

I guess Tim Cook no longer believes in the fundamental right to privacy...

"We believe that people have a fundamental right to privacy. The American people demand it, the constitution demands it, morality demands it."

... of letting the user be in control of their personal information...

"We believe the customer should be in control of their own information."

... and letting the user deciding what, if anything, to share. I guess Tim Cook no longer thinks "you should ever have to trade it [privacy] for a service."

Sorry Timmy, but showing users irrelavant ads has nothing to do with providing us a service.

A carefully worded response courtesy of Legal and Marketing. Saying nothing that sounds like something.

Tim’s babies are AR/VR and Apple Cars. If both fails, he is gone. If he fails on cars, he is gone.

If you went by MacRumors comments like this, which have been commonplace for years, you’d almost think Tim Cook was on thin ice as CEO of Apple. But if you factor in the reality of the situation -i.e. that Apple’s global reach and profits have grown significantly under Tim Cook’s leadership, then you know statements like this couldn’t be further from the truth.

You don’t have to like the guy or the direction he’s taken the company, but I’d say his standing at Apple has been pretty solid up to this point.. and it would likely continue to be even without a successful car.

Do you really think Apple's global reach is due to Tim Cook and not anything from Steve Jobs' legacy? I am not saying Tim hasn't done squat as the CEO of Apple; in fact, he has made this company a real moneymaker. But Apple's foundation is the unwavering loyalty of fans from constant innovation. And the profits he generate from sale of hardwares and Apple service is not something that will last forever.

At some point, he will have to introduce a groundbreaking products/services to continue to make Apple a sustainable business. Tim thought those were AR/VR and Cars. We will see how he does, but if he fails, Apple will become like Intel and Microsoft before Nadella; living off the old success and facing slow death.

Yes, the legacy and foundation he inherited as CEO has obviously played a role in Apple’s continued success. And I’m pretty sure he’s also played a role in shaping Apple’s success before becoming CEO, since he’s been part of the leadership there since 1998.

I think I made my points clear in my post and have no issues with people having their criticisms of Apple or its leadership.

I don’t think Apple’s continued success is dependent on them having a successful automobile. Nor do I think Microsoft is dying a slow death. But that’s just my opinion.

What’s the point of asking Tim Cook questions like “what’s your future at Apple?”??
Like do you think the guy is gonna go “you know I wasn’t gonna say anything but since you asked I’m actually stepping down next month”
