Yes, it is. A very well-written piece that comes off as very genuine.
Yes, saving 50 to 100 MB apparently is more important than gaining 16 GB. I'd say the stock apps issue is more about people not getting their way than about anything else.I'd delete some of the stock apps but I guess their footprint is really small. So instead of asking Tim about the app he should have asked about the measly 16GB entry model. Being able to delete some apps won't solve the problem, they could just hide them and it would be the same
How about a switch in Settings to toggle these apps visibility off.
Or, better yet, toggle the entire last page off, which is where they all live.
And switch them all to Google and MS apps. Tim is watching you.I want a "default" apps feature. I want to be able to set a default web browser, default maps/navigation, default email client... etc.
This is a silly strawman. Comparing functions like BT and Wifi to the Stocks or Tips app is. The desire to delete unwanted apps is not an unreasonable request, especially since Tim says not all stock apps are systemically important. Deleting unwanted apps is not an Apple specific request either. No one wants bloatware, be it from Apple, Samsung, or any other vendor. No one should have to have a crap folder on their device.
Been wanting this forever. Not sure why they haven't implemented this yet.I want a "default" apps feature. I want to be able to set a default web browser, default maps/navigation, default email client... etc.
I think the reason they haven't allowed you to hide stock apps is because for some of those apps it's going to require a replacement app. Meaning, third party app replacement to ensure the functions needed are still there. I think this is a hint that they're working on 3rd party default apps.
Mail, for example. Say you use the Gmail app and never the Mail app. In order to hide that app, iOS would need to know where to create a new email message with the Share sheet.
Very cool, how much extra space do you gain once those Apps are gone?

That might be a first world problem.... but since we are talking about "first world fancy phones" (TM) I think it's a totally valid complaintYes because sticking them in a folder is such a chore. First world problems here.![]()
This is probably the best answer I think. I believe iOS 10 or iOSX could include this.
If you know anything about this forum you know that won't be "enough". The complaining will be that they want the apps completely removed off the system so they can reclaim the used up space. And then if Tim Cook actually allows you to remove them then people will come here complaining that Apple shouldn't force the apps on them in the first place. And then if Tim Cook decides not to include any stock apps then people will come here and complain how much easier it is to get started on an Android phone because it has stock apps.Cook is making it more complicated than it is. Just implement a setting to hide certain apps.

32 GB base model and ill be happy.
Ignore the comments and forget them. Or, come online and complain about the complaints for even more attention.

So in other words you want Apple to help make sure their customers have no incentive to upgrade to more storage space from the base model. You're expecting that of a company that is running a business? Hmmm.This. Apple, if you really care about the customers, don't be so desperate to grab the extra $100 to get something better than the ancient 16GB
