A public company and its leaders are accountable to the shareholders - their objective is to produce an acceptable return on a shareholder's investment. Everything else is just a bunch of hooey.

The reason products are built in places like in China is not because corporations are evil. Its because consumers are full of poo. They talk about the evils of moving manufacturing oversees. The evils of foreign made products. Of losing jobs. And yet, how many people in the US will select US made products over foreign made products (and pay the corresponding premium in price)?

The free market is not evil. People vote with their dollars. And the way people voted, they are telling us that foreign made products that cost less are preferable to US made products. All the free market did is it gave the consumer a mechanism to vote with their dollars.

I'm glad everything is so benign to you...

By lowering taxes on income that has already been taxed abroad?

By that warped chunk of logic, no city would be able to charge a sales tax, or even income tax.

Libertarian ideas sound all fantastical and even magical, but they fall flat on their faces when put into action.

Imagine New York City, not able to charge a sales tax. Imagine New York state not able to charge a state income tax. Imagine a country where nothing works, and there isn't any money to pay to maintain it. I think you can. It's called Iraq. It's called Pakistan. It's called Kansas...

This is on foreign income. They already charge for domestic income. Only one other country in the world does this. What else should we do with over $2T in cash stashed overseas? This is hardly a idealistic position. Stubbornness will get you nowhere.

This is the biggest red herring. The government gets plenty of tax revenue. All time highs.

Tax revenue would actually increase.

Poor snowflake, better go to your safe space
Jobs was of Syrian descent, adopted by a white Jewish couple
Steve Jobs was conceived out of wedlock, and in today's abortion-on-demand climate, probably would never have been born. A curious conundrum for many of the ardent SJ fans who lean left politically. Does anyone know if Jobs shared their views on abortion?

The reason why we have to tempt companies with "special" rights is because of trade agreements. How can an American company compete against a Chinese(or third world country) one when many safety, environmental, social regulations are ignored in their country? See, all these things cost money and are generally good but when you have a trade agreement with a country that doesn't respect a higher standard in the name of profits - Americans lose.
Nail.on.the.head.
Currently the gap between free trade and fair trade is as wide as the Pacific Ocean. For decades the bicoastal elites and multinational corporations have been exporting inflation and their environmental and social responsibilities to countries like China in exchange for huge profits that benefit themselves and shareholders. Of course they see this situation as "normal" now and wonder why anyone would want to change it. The rest of the country thinks otherwise.

Fake News:

COULD HILLARY TURN TEXAS RED?

Election prediction is not the same as fake news. Political party "in fighting" are rumors, not news.

Coal is dead and so is legacy manufacturing. But there are other new industries that can take it's place. We have to build things in this country and export them. Germany and Japan do and they have many decent paying manufacturing jobs. Not just traditional assembly lines. When you can export products for a profit, you can create sustainable well paying jobs. We have to reverse the trade deficit.

What we can't do is only create low wage service jobs and a small percentage of STEM jobs and leave everyone else in between on welfare, unemployment, and other entitlements paid for by debt and quantitative easing.

I actually agree with pretty much all you said there. I just think the "death of US manufacturing" mantra is disingenuous. US manufacturing output is still more than 1/3rd GDP. The US is second to only China as a manufacturing country, and that was to be expected with their rise as a developing nation, population, etc.. Manufacturing is near an all-time high. Growth had certainly stalled, especially when the Great Recession hit, but we're just about back to those levels. And it is problematic that refined oil is our top manufactured good. But you're right in that we should strive for more than service jobs.

As well as manufacturing is doing as you said, we still have a massive trade deficit as exports are still not growing as they should while imports continue to grow. This is unsustainable as we can't afford to buy the things we are with more and more debt.

Maybe the right solution is to curtail our consumerist society and start living within our means again.

I'm all for the free market. But please acknowledge that burdensome regulations and high taxes also forced manufacturers to move abroad. It wasn't just labor costs.

And much of these regulations were put in not to protect the public but by lobbyists to stifle competition.

The burden of providing a living wage, safety, environmental protection, benefits to society. Oh, they're just terrible. Meanwhile in China and other third world countries the people working are doing so in dangerous conditions and for extremely low wages (yeah ok, they might get paid better with the manufacturing than with their sustenance farming, etc.). But look, Apple still has record amounts of profit AND cash. The regulations are just so hard for Apple.

No, it's not any of that. It's that they can make more money by manufacturing in developing countries. It's not the regulations in the US, it's the LACK of regulation in the other country that makes it profitable. And THAT is why trade agreements with developing countries with jobs that Americans can do are bad for everyone - the developing nation is exploited and Americans lose jobs in the name of increased profits facilitated for by the trade agreements.

All in all, the trade deals need to be updated and renegotiated.

Things don't work in Iraq because a certain president thought they had something that they didn't.

Which mainstream media would that be? Everywhere except FOX?

It's obvious that drumpt if fine with supporting racist ideology. He did aligned himself with Bannon and the alt right.

Seems pretty straight forward.
Bannon isn't an alt right radical. I've listened to his radio show on Sirus many times, and never heard anything racist.

I think a tax holiday would really be a good thing. Without one, the money is never being moved back to the US.
Yes...more corporate welfare is exactly what is needed.
All those untaxed profits will just pad the bank accounts of the CEO and majority corporate share holders.
Remember trickle down economics doesn't work.

Not even sure what you are trying to say. But if that was meant to be an insult - good try.
