Just like the crap devices you’ve been releasing the past 3 years? iPhones with a hideous notch, MacBooks that require dongles to be productive and iMacs that still use 60 year old technology (hdd) for storage instead of SSDs. I really don’t want to, but when my 6s finally dies I will be switching to Samsung. You must not want my money since you are keeping your crappy iPhone design again this year. Maybe you should listen to your customers?

MacBooks don’t require dongles. The notch isn’t hideous.

If you’re going to complain complain about the butterfly keyboards which die within months and the touch bar that makes it impossible to touch type without accidentally firing off Siri or triggering functions. Or the fact that every usb c cable looks the same but behaves differently. Real problems.

I do feel that Tim Cook has the right temperament to navigate today’s challenges. I said it before. Apple’s competitors today are not Samsung or Microsoft or even google at this point, but the FBI and foreign governments. The critics who think he is worthless just because he lacks Steve Job’s charisma are just not seeing the big picture.

No it's not, all the products have changed for the worse. The Mac Pro, however, definitely still is the same literal trash can that came out over 5 years ago and it still sells for a starting price of $3,000.

Sorry, but Apple's become a hilarious joke.

A 5 year old Mac Pro that still sells $3000+ Kind of gives a whole new meaning to “holding its value “ doesn’t it? I can’t imagine any other company selling hardware that old, might as well at that price. Hopefully they come out with something new this year for those waiting to upgrade. I transitioned back to PC's fully in 2016 myself.

I think most of us are not interested in persons, we are interested in the best, usable and open products.

Apple does not deliver the best phones anymore and this with a proprietary connector, Android is going to be more useful, new Mac minis, iMacs and Macbooks exclude Linux - this is for a lot of developers a no go.
Then maybe switch platforms?

I don't mean this as a snide. I do feel that since Apple remains extremely profitable, this means that their products continue to appeal to a great number of users who evidently feel that they offer enough value to justify that higher price tag. There are tons of products I don't buy because they don't meet my needs. This doesn't necessarily mean the product sucks, it just means that product isn't suitable for it, and that's perfectly okay.

Just look at all the criticism and ridicule the AirPods and Apple Watch received when they were first released, vs the reception they are getting now. For every user who complains that the AirPods don't fit their ears or that the sound quality is horrid, there is another user who feels these tradeoffs are worth it and is happily using them.

Times change, Apple has changed in keeping with the times, and maybe it's time you all did too, rather than stay on despite being unhappy with the state of affairs at Apple and containing to get all whiney and bitter.

I'm hoping he means reducing the entry price to Mac by introducing ARM-based Macs. The most obvious place to start is merging the Macbook and Macbook Air into a single product that utilizes ARM processors. Follow with something like "Mac Nano" that is sub-mini form factor and simply attaches to a display like a Firestick or Roku and brings the entry price down to truly sub-$500.

Every time I watch an old Steve-Note, all I think about is how phenomenal he was as a presenter.
It's painful to watch the current stage shows in comparison.

It's like a first rate Hollywood movie vs a university stage production

I agree mostly. I think that’s why some people consider Apple no longer innovative: Steve Jobs isn’t selling us the products anymore.

Then maybe switch platforms? ...
That is what I am going to do. But we depend on Macs at work thats why I try to help by criticizing.
We all new that apple has an eye on the forum, people speaking out the painful truth are helping apple.

The "yes"-sayer are a not helping, they are Apple's real enemies.

Why do you say Linux is excluded on the above models?

I agree that this has a lot to do with it. He did such a good job almost convincing everyone of what he was saying. In some ways he literally explained the iPad into existence with his presentation. He simultaneously dealt a blow to netbooks. Here's a short clip of the segment I'm talking about:

He told us why 3.5 inches was the best size even though today most people agree that it's probably not. He told us why propriety was better than fragmented and why the language of "open" and "closed" wasn't representative. Steve had so many qualities that made him great on stage. Obviously smart and passionate. But he also had a way of simplifying things and explaining in a way that made it hard to disagree. By the end of the show you left convinced that what he had just showed you was clearly the right thing.

Apple is still incredibly innovative today but they need to do a better job telling us why we need a device like the Apple Watch. After all, like Steve says in the video, if you're going to create (or recreate) an entire product category then it has to do some things far better. The Apple Watch certainly has it's use cases, but I'm not sure Apple has ever done a great job telling us all why they decided to build that particular product and why it can be a better product in some instances than the iPhone.

For me, jogging without my phone in my hand and still listening to music is plenty of reason to own it. But Apple never told me that and I didn't make the purchase until the Series 4.

Your post said “And we don't want "hey Siri" on those damn ear buds. We don't want Siri in anything, it's so bad.”

Saying “we” makes it sound like you’re speaking on behalf of customers in general, not just yourself.
Yes, I am speaking for myself and everyone who thinks as I do. If that offends you, I might be so bold as to suggest you get out more. Or maybe not. If you actually leave the house you may find yourself constantly offended. Instead of bullying others because you don't like their opinions, how about you share a meaningful one of your own?

I’m not offended in the least lol. You’re simply not making much sense. You seemed confused as to why your post received a reply of “Speak for yourself”

You: We don’t want Siri
OP: Speak for yourself
You: I am speaking for myself, who do you think I was speaking for?
Me: That doesn’t make sense, you didn’t say “I don’t want Siri” you said “We don’t want Siri”. So don’t be surprised that someone thinks you weren’t just speaking for yourself, and doesn’t want to be included in your royal “we”.

re: your out of control, off the rails non-sensical rant above: Where in my post did I say I didn’t like your opinion? What about my post made you feel bullied? I literally posted one sentence: “Saying “we” makes it sound like you’re speaking on behalf of customers in general, not just yourself.”

btw your attempt to bully me with your ad hominem attacks and outright hostility is juvenile. Here’s a meaningful opinion for you: This is the Internet. If you get so easily offended and angry when others reply to your posts, maybe you shouldn’t post. Because if you post nonsense in an open forum, you really shouldn’t be surprised—much less angry and offended—when some replies, “That doesn’t make sense”.

It would be pretty damn difficult to **** up the golden goose that Jobs gave them

And he is well on his way to doing exactly that

Look at Apple revenue and profit since Cook took over vs the Jobs era. I wouldn’t be losing any sleep yet over Apple’s demise. Cook is not Jobs, but he knows how to make money.

With all the issues with Nvidia web drivers and a complete lack of a solution from either side theres no way in hell I'm investing in any new mac hardware. Not going to be left in the lurch again.
