And what is wrong with Apple becoming a luxury phone company
And for a company of Apple’s size, it makes total sense to focus more on the products which bring in the most money (and in turn, focus less on those which are less profitable).
Nor does Apple really have a choice because at this juncture, the high end of the market is reaching saturation and increasing the number of customers isn’t really an option any more. If anything, not doing so will lead to the stock price crashing and cause management to simply replace Tim Cook with someone else who will (maximise profits). So I would argue that Tim Cook is in fact doing an excellent job of juggling the various portfolios that his job entails, while still staying true to the vision at Apple (which is to make technology more personal for users).
Sure, if you were a dictator who could ignore shareholders, I suppose you do do something like release all the things you wanted (like an updated Mac Pro), even if they didn’t do very much for Apple’s bottom line. But you would also likely end up ruining Apple because the truth of the matter is that it’s a much larger company now, serving a far more diverse pool of users, and can’t simply get by by continuing to cater to the same small group of enthusiasts who stood by Apple and supported the company during its dark days.
Ultimately, I don’t feel that Apple has failed or lost its way though. Times change, the company changed, and that’s just the way she goes.
THat is your opinion. Although it is ok for Apple to create products that bring money, like iPhone, iWatch, etc.
that nothing has to do with developing other good products. The entire computer line up is outdated, overpriced, and its design has been neglected for many years. The entire computer line up could have been a better part of the Apple profits if they would have designed good products and update them in reasonable update cycles. They should have fired
Jony Yve or whomever was responsible of such many failures of the entire computer lineup.
The entire Computer Line up has a lot of failures.
- Mac PRO- A complete disaster. They never acknowledge that the new design was a failure (Compared to old towers). And no one got fired...
- Macbook Pro Another massive failure 2016 and 18. I believe this is the product with more return rates in Apple history.
- iMac Pro- Although quite powerful, it is overpriced, unaffordable, and same external design as the 10 year old iMac. Furthermore, a 12k computer that the internal HD is not upgradable. Really?
- Mac Mini not updated in 4 years.
I know sooo many Apple users (including myself) that were willing to buy from towers, to Macbooks, to Mac minis, but instead they are looking at hackintoshes or buying older models. Who Is going to buy outdated overpriced computers...??
For example, I was waiting to buy 2 Macbooks in 2016 and when I saw the new model with touchbar, I ended up buying the old one. The reason that the Apple line up does not generate that many sales, is because Apple neglected the computer line for so many years and users are tired of that. They could have getting so many more sales if products have been better designed and reasonably priced.
