I didn't know Tim was the one physically working on everything. Isn't he employing other people to do that?
Employing and directing are two different issues. As CEO, I would believe he would be responsible for fostering and leading innovation and having the insight to lead Apple to new products that change the way we 'Think Different". IMHO, this has not occurred on his watch. (no pun intended)
I will restate:
*No upgrade or innovation for desktop computing. (i.e. Mac Pro, over 3 years, Mac Mini, over 2 years)
*Apple Music/iTunes - LOL

Although I generally admire a person for their social conscience, IMHO, Tim has stretched it too far and needs to focus on what is also needed in the pro marketplace. IMHO, I believe there is still room for the Pro market to have hardware that is not soldered down and can be customized to the individual needs.

I cannot equate an Apple computer to a toaster..To me, just not gonna work...

I'm pretty sure most people don't have a problem with "equal pay for equal work," I'm just not sure that there is inequality.

ummm - look at Tim's salary v an employee's
there is your answer …
Tim does "sierra foxtrot alpha" - apart from assembling and leading the team and swanning around the world.
still - one has to have the energy to give and stamina to do it.
time for fresh blood throughout the organisation methinks.

Tim the social butterfly. His made his role unique and seems to really enjoy the social element of it.

Hmm you know, if anything I'd hope that executives of Apple tried a little more to witness other cultures and regions themselves so they can LEAD their teams or see the necessity of smaller regional teams leading and influencing the development of products with respect to local needs and specialties a little more.

Living in Germany I can tell you that Google's got the localization down quite well, Apple not so much.

This doesn't "just happen", it needs leaders to recognize and gain their own overview, or blindly trust the hopefully qualified people to lead such efforts.

This will become more crucial as we move into an ever more personalized, smart world of technology that people will undoubtedly interact with more naturally and intimately.

The apple execs nailed the British culture, all over Brexit and prices shot up in a flash ;)

fantastic Tim Cook!

Equal pay for equal work.

If you have a problem with this then you are the problem.
Then maybe Cook can take a trip to his beloved China and India and explain it to them there, where the gender pay gap is very, very real. Strange that this Cook character preaches gender equality in Western countries where such things are generally enshrined in law and no serious person claims is a real problem. Meanwhile there are plenty of countries Cook does business in where women are second- or even third-rate citizens in very real ways with nary a peep from his smug, smiling face. Very strange, that...

Hey, Tim? Go get some good g*ddamn desktop Macs out!

Tim if you are reading this please listen to your users. Give the Mac pro the attention it deserves. Pull the ports, raise the price and make your pro users happy.

It's probably too late and I think he's aware of that.

I recon majority of professional users had already switched or plan to. You just not leave your most loyal userbase hanging out to dry for three years. What started as a slight delay in planning turned into a rip-off.

And anyway Apple makes much more producing new colours of wrist straps now.

Let's harp on what he wears. Really. Tim, you like that Mr Roger's look you've got going?

Sad to see all the other executives in coat and tie and Mr Cook wears his loungewear because he's such a stud he doesn't need to wear his suit and tie.

Yeah, right.

Correct, when you control for the variables that actually exist because of the choices made by women, there is no gender pay gap, and, in general, women tend to actually make more for the same work. If you just take men, and their pay, and compare to women, and their pay, then you can make it appear that their is a wage gap. Statistics doesn't work that way. You have to actually account for variables such as occupation, education, hours worked, experience, etc.

No, he does it all himself. He should be testing products; this trip is why Apple products are so buggy. Everyone knows this, duh! /s
love the sarcasm! :)

I was simply making a lame joke. Sorry I opened up this can of worms. But I don't think he has to be concerned or care. The "pro" users tend to have a very high opinion of themselves and ask for more than they deserve.

Apple could pull the plug on the Mac Pro entirely and it wouldn't make a difference. One thing "pro" users tend to forget is Apple's best interests may not interest that of their own. Apple will go where the money is, and for the most part it isn't the "pro" users. Developing for them is an entirely thankless job.

I can imagine Tim, Craig and Phil sitting around the water cooler making fun of people browsing MR in a Mac Pro trying to dictate to them what their next move will be.

Of course I know that by far most of the readers on this website are American and this is an American website, but the unconditional wording sounds kind of ignorant to me. There actually are people on this planet who understand German.

Ich bin ein Berliner. Does anybody know if Cook speaks German? Otherwise his little twitter quote is a bit suspicious.

Genau. Thanks for the link. At the bottom is a video of the interview, which took place in English.
