I was about to say that. GW graduation is one of the better commencements in the country. If Tim knows anything good, he'll give the kids a bright outlook of the future devoid of any politics sans free speech issues.

I am sure Tim will keep his speech strictly business and avoid talking about his passion for true equality. Even here on these MacRumors certain people are against true equality. I don't know why anyone would be against this, something I fail to understand.

That'll be "... former First Lady Hillary Clinton.", surely?

I think Senator and/or Sec State are more prestigious, not to mention more recent.

Technically, she should be known for the rest of her life as Secretary Clinton (assuming she doesn't assume another office/higher office/judgeship, etc). Traditionally you would be referred to by your last highest position, so she would be Secretary Clinton.

I was at an event with a former governor of my state, long since retired, and he was referred to as Governor ____.

I think I will be in DC at that time, so I will plan to attend. Since it is on the national mall, it will likely be easy to see even if it is technically not a public affair.

Should be interesting.

I was told that they are very strict on ticket checking from my classmate who attended last year.

(I'm graduating George Washington this spring, so I'll definitely be there.)

So, um, you fail to understand, huh?
Well, here: let me make it easy for ya ....
Equality, like everything else that's worthwhile, is something to be earned.
Got it now?

... (assuming [H. Clinton] doesn't assume another office/higher office/judgeship, etc) ....

You do know that she's about to be installed-- I, I mean be duly elected to President, don't you?

It's on the mall. I dont need to be in the reserved for GWU section to hear a presentation done outside in public space. I am counting on them having monitors as in other events so that I can watch from a "little" further out.

You are born human. Therefore you have earnt the right to be treated equal, just like every other human on this planet.

I hope you're not trying to justify that inequality is anything other than morally wrong. I really hope that is not the case.

I'm sorry but what does gay rights have to do with a college commencement speech? Nothing. If Tim Cook is smart he will keep the speech politics free. But considering he threw gay rights into a cyber security speech my guess is he won't be able to help himself.

Oh, my poor well-intentioned-but-misguided friend ....
These words sound nice .... in the YA section of Barnes & Noble.

But the reality ...?
You'd apply that sentiment to Hitler?
To Jerry Sandusky, the guy who spent decades raping young boys,
with the tacit approval of a major, accredited university, I might add?
You'd apply your flowery words to the guy who beat the crap out of you
and took all of your hard-earned money because he was bored at that moment
and you just happened along? You'd apply your aspiring words to all those people?

Man is absolutely not a "noble beast".
Oh, sure, he has his bright spots here & there: iPads, the internal combustion engine, waffle irons, etc.
But, when all's said and done, he's just a chimp with a computer on his wrist.
As vile & agressive as every other animal in Nature is.
The sooner you come to accept this Truth, the better off you'll be, believe me.

Yes equality is for everyone. Even the criminals of this world. It's not my place to judge them. This different to not condoning the crimes they did. You can treat them as human beings and still be against the crimes they did.

Equality has no bounds. You either treat everyone equally or you don't. There's no half way. I am not misguided as you think I am. Even if a crime was done to me, I'd be first to push to have them charged. But I'd also expect they be treated like human beings and not less than human. Everyone deserves that right. There are zero exceptions.

How do colleges/students bring in big name speakers like this?

Cook will have a hard time outdoing Job's Stanford speech.

They take the extortion like tuition fees from poor sap parents and throw the money at these speakers. That's how.

What a joke colleges are. Here's your sheet of paper that proves nothing other than you can pass some tests. That'll be $200,000.

Yes, it is very hard to treat turds sociopaths as humans; our ability to do so makes us great... or saps... I prefer thinking we're great ;-).

Typical British drone mindset. You are also expressing an opinion genius.

Just making a point that rattling off an opinion as fact doesn't make it true.

British drone mindset? You a master race brah?

"I know our graduating students will be inspired and enlightened by his reflections on the lessons he has garnered from his distinguished career as a highly effective leader at the forefront of technological innovation."

What a bunch of pedantic bullcrap. Apparently nobody taught this guy about run-on sentences.

Long sentences are not necessarily run on sentences.

have you seen their tuition rates? The money doesn't go towards teacher salary, or campus improvements, or really anything that helps the students.

brah? Now you're being anti-American? I live in the UK and know very well how fleet-minded (actually hive-minded) Brits tend to be, so my comment has nothing to do with any perceived superiority on my part, just from being the brunt of mindless bigotry on the part of common Brits.

Anti-American? er.... not sure. Is it? Lolz. You sure you don't have a superiority complex? Just because you say you don't doesn't mean it's true.

Have a few cones and relax yourself. Now join the hive and get pumped for the Apple Watch with the rest of us.

Yeah mate, oh I mean bruv. Cones? don't know what you're referring to, but it's probably more anti-American tripe. Then you of course advocate that I "join the hive", only proving my point that you are a drone. At least we know where you stand. Or cower, rather.
