Guess the April/May Mac Pro rumors won't pan out? Cut the prices on those - then you'd move existing stock, and work up hype/excitement for whatever new handcuffed design is in the works... Either way, the pros are looking for other solutions at this point.

I think it was always obvious that if Apple has to release a brand new Mac Pro (or equivalent) it will be at WWDC.

Because people can only really think of only two massive mess ups when it involves apple in recent years, and the other one was all the way back with the iPhone 4.

And it is very debatable as to whether the iPhone 4 qualifies as a mess up considering every phone I have owned has suffered from the same issue.

I wish I could agree on this point. I would really like to put a shiny new Mac Pro where the current one is now in my office at home, but it's not looking good.

Yes I know that WWDC in the past (keyword: past) was the place for announcements. I've attended every WWDC since the very first event. But that was then, and this is now.

Apple seems quite different beyond just the fact they're operating with Cook at the top. Who knows what they are likely to do, or not do. From my vantage point, nothing is obvious anymore.

I wish they would announce the new Mac Pros already :( After getting used to a SSD in my Retina MBP, its rough to use a disk. It would be silly to upgrade the SSD now because who knows what they will put in the new ones.

I've been using SSD's in my Mac Pro's for a while. In my 12-Core, I'm using the second SATA optical connection to boot my OWC Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G. Runs amazingly. Even though current gen Mac Pro's don't support SATA III (yet), I figured it'd be smarter getting a SATA III SSD in case Apple releases a new system. If not, at least I can use it in another system with SATA III. I don't see Apple revamping a system that won't support a 2.5" drive.

I say dive in now, the prices are much better and you can always use it in another system. :)

I like my new iMac and waited 2 months to get it, ordering it Dec 1st. But I think what they should have done is announced it in October for delivery 'early 2013'. Most of us probably would have got them around the same time but it wouldn't have felt as long

Could you be more specific about what's different in terms of WWDC announcements? The Retina MacBook Pro was announced at WWDC 2012...

Edit: Unless you're talking specifically about Mac Pro announcements, and obviously Apple did not make any Mac Pro announcements in the last few WWDC because the updates were minimal. My point was that IF Apple was to release a new major update to the Mac Pro it would be at WWDC, not a few months before.

The problem wasn't announcing it to early.

The problem was updating it too late.

Speaking of which, where is the update to the thunderbolt display for pro users already?

Well, I am worried that they come out with something that is cheaper then a 3rd party drive. A 960GB is $1,099 from OWC which is kinda pricy.

I also don't really have the time to deal with a re-install only to do it again in a few months. I like to do a re-install when I am replacing a primary drive. Its my way of cleaning up my mess :D Not to mention, my current primary is 3tb which is about 70% full.

It would have been interesting if they went along with that plan... although delaying them until 2013 would have put nearly a two-year gap between releases...

Not that the 2011 iMac is anything to sneeze at! My 27" baby is still running very strong since I got it almost two years ago! :)

I guess you don't use Adobe software because the graphics card in the 2011 iMac renders AE and Premiere a dog for so many things.

Hey Tim. Where the hell is the new Mac Pro you promised us? In case you haven't noticed yet, it is now Spring of 2013, which is when you said it would be released. We have enough iPads. I don't need an iWatch. I need a new Mac Pro. One with a real GPU. USB 3.0 would be nice too. Thanks.

Maybe they should have updated the 2011 internals in June with the MBP and other updates. Then announced the new iMac in October for a Jan 2013 release.

Then those who needed to could have got the old design but with the new CPU 6 months earlier.

That will come with the Mac Pro.

It shouldn't have been delayed.

It should have been cancelled.

If they really want another iMac that looks like a boob, go back to CRT. At least that one had an optical drive.

Make it THICKER, add a PCI slot, give me a Blu-Ray drive, and stop trying to make everything thinner just for the hell of it. If it isn't thicker than the base it is sitting on, then who cares?

If apple had delayed even longer and not announced it, they wouldn't have my custom and I wouldn't have even bought one...

It would have been windows. I need a functioning computer more then I 'need' a mac. I feel sorry for the Mac Pro guys

Wow, so he would've delayed a product that was perfectly fine and ready to go? Somebody please get rid of this guy for good.

I want to ride the wave of cool by also responding to this post. But there is nothing left it say that hasn't been said!

I enjoy ham.

That would have been a tad more realistic. I ordered mine on decembert 5th, got it in the middle of march.

The product design may have been ready but the manufacturing processes were not. What followed was lack of supply and low yield production which probably cost Apple a lot of money to sort out and ultimately lost them sales and got them bad press.
