Hosting an Burberry event with the iPhone 5s all over the place certainly turned out to be a good carreer move for ms Ahrendts.

do some research....

and you'll see this lady is a very smart cookie, I'd say on scale of 1-10 up in the 8/9's and compared to Mr Browett? another league. She seems to be very in touch with herself, very grounded and probably looking forward to getting out of London pollution/British weather! Dare I say it, I think she will be on stage at the Apple events more than once or twice, she has a good presence and conviction.

Thought that was Meredith Vierra for a second! I hope she brings something fresh to the Apple Store experience. I've been a little disappointed lately with the service there. Employees all seem overwhelmed and in a hurry to get to the next customer. Understandable since they're always so busy , but there has to be a way to improve!

Oh please. She's already famous, successful and wealthy. Past those landmarks in a person's career, it just becomes about new challenges and having fun. Plus, I imagine she wants to move back to the US and CA in particular. Great place if you're loaded - I bet she buys into Pac Heights.

Wow, I didn't know this forum was full of industry insiders that really have a strong grasp of large companies and their executives.

I think Tim Cook should consult with MacRumors members before hiring anyone..

Amazing move - they've managed to entice the CEO of a top fashion house to move to a retail focused role. Will be interesting to see how she changes thing.

PS: still disappointed with the fascination of Tim's sexuality. Not sure why it became a point of discussion in a topic re the appointment of a new senior vice president.

Here's the question: Does she realise that she needs to make dollars by selling devices, and not save pennies on the staff?

Have you been inside a Burberry store? They aren't pinching pennies. When they sell $150 umbrellas and $1000 trench coats they drive growth through revenue.

You maybe looking at the next Apple CEO once Mr.Cook retires.

Maybe. They are the same age, though.

Solid move by Apple. She is very capable and successful. I am sure she will push Apple even higher.

She is kind of hot cougar too. :D

Do you want to sell clothes for the rest of your life? Or do you want to come with me and change the world? ... Oh wait....

She sounds like she's a good pick for the retail job, but I'm not sure folding in online under the same position is a good idea. I have a feeling it will get marginalized, as most of her attention will go to retail. The Burberry.com site is not great, so we have that example to draw from.

A rhetorical question, I presume. But for those who don't know, it was because Steve recognized that Apple was in desperate need of adult supervision. Nobody else at Apple at that point, including Steve, knew how to run a big company. For any other his other failings, Sculley knew how to run a tight ship, and Apple became more profitable than ever during the first few years of his tenure.

As for the hiring of Ahrendts, I think Cook has essentially admitted a mistake with Browett by picking someone with a history in high-end retailing.

Yes it was a rhetorical question. Point being, people can and do make mistakes. Unfortunately Steve Jobs fanboys don't think he ever made a mistake.

You'd think his biggest fans would have read the biography. Even if a person didn't read it, they'd have to know that Steve's halo was often worn crooked.

Oh, was I suppose to be?

It's entirely up to you. Some people don't mind being crude or boorish, but don't expect others to not notice.

New Retail Chief

Maybe she'll see the light and introduce the radical concept of actually having some stock available when launching new products because the iMac and iPhone 5s launches were not properly prepped for prime time . Along with something like the ' Maps' disaster Apple will be creator of their own downfall if they don't get back to their former high level .

Possibly bad news for price levels though but we'll see .....
