I think it does use the MBP to transfer the files. I had to transfer mine through ethernet.

I have just installed Time Capsule and have attached a USB drive to it. I would like to transfer files from TC to my USB drive. I noticed that this is very very slow and wonder if I am doing something wrong. Shouldnt this simply transfer at USB2.0 speeds? Or, does it have to communicate with my MBP over the wireless in order to do these file transfers?

I have a 70GB file on my TC (Music) that I want to keep on the other USB drive attached and would like to transfer it. WHat is the fastest way to do this?

THanks

Larry

Not sure about the fastest way, but I would plug the USB drive to the MBP and plug an ethernet cable directly to your TC. Turn off your wireless on the MBP (to make sure you are connecting to the TC via ethernet) and then start copying your music files from the TC to the USB drive. Once that is done, plug the USB drive back onto the TC and turn your MBP wireless back on.
