Why no NBC/ABC/CBS/Fox?

Why are they only adding cable channels and not NBC/ABC/CBS/Fox which are free over the air anyway?

Setting up the encoders is one of the difficult parts - and with national content, you can encode those in one place one time nationally. The local channels are different in every market, requiring a massive number of encoders all over the country. I suspect that's why you're not seeing local channels right now.

...and dumb.

I plead guilty to both, and I said so myself that such discriminatory comments would mean permanent bans if we were talking about other population groups (jews, gays, muslims, you name it).... but a bit of a rude dumb fun once every blue moon didn't hurt anyone.

Glad to see that we're all sophisticated enough to avoid ageism.

You know, Jobs and Gates are 56 and Woz is 60. Nolan Bushnell is 67, Ted Huff is 72, Gary Kildall died in 1994 at 52, Paul Allen is 58 and Lee Felsenstein is 65.

(If you're too young to know who some of these are, look 'em up.)

Uhh no. It's funny because the picture has nothing to do the article, besides the back side of an iPad.
It's just a very random picture of three old guys looking at an iPad.

It's like umm oooK...

It's like they just got lazy and just through any old picture with an iPad in it from Getty Images...

There are those that live in menagerie of entitlements and those that listen to the truth of Fox News. Refuse your welfare check and be free!

You used the words truth and Fox News in the same sentence. Some people are so gullible.

i think old age is allowed to slip because we will all get there eventually, if we make it that far. so when it comes to old age, we're all in the same boat.

that's an interesting take, I am warming to it. My view would be that old people are well, too old (and a lot of them are too depressed too sadly) to talk back, organize etc, and no one is out to make money out of promoting their gay-ness, jewish-ness, american-ness, whatever-ness and their interests as a group. I think a testament of the cultural development of society is how well they care and integrate animal, children, and elders and anyone in need in their societies. Sadly I think old people take the short stick in that too.

I'm probably just dense....what is the big appeal to being able to watch TV on your iPad but only in your own house?

We have three TV's in the house and if I'm in the house and want to watch something I just turn on one of the TVs...

I was hoping that someone would figure out how I could watch my cable-subscribed channels on my iPad if i was out of the house; in Starbucks, on the train, etc....

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Directv is not also an ISP and thus can't make the same wifi in home argument. Time Warner basically calling the iPad a tv screen.

I don't care what you say, I think those three dudes are great...
you youngsters today may like to take the mick, and think you're cool with your pants hanging around your knees, well, poppycock!

and let me tell you... we'll all be there sooner than you think, and I for one will be watching pornography and Slipknot when I'm 85, and I'll do that on an iPad!

*mutter*

my grandfather once made the comment 'in my day you only had your pants hanging down in front of a girl when you were giving her the time of her life'

Not an image I ever wanted in my head (then again Bubs claims he was still at it when he was 90)

Cost a little extra money, but I've been getting my home TV on my iPhone & iPad since last fall over both 3G and wifi. Elgato EyeTV allows you to watch your home TV or saved files while in the car or wherever. 4.99 app and 149.00 for device, but well worth it for me.

Don't use it but Slingbox basically does the same thing.

help the aged boys, one day you ll be just like them...us... (hopefully). :)

No, no, no. They are all going to be young forever...and cool...and good looking...

Always amazed at the "smartassness" of the young towards the old. I know...I used to say the same sort of thing...until I realized one day that we wouldn't have anything we have today if it hadn't been for these 'Geritol guzzling, Depends wearing geezers.'
