I wonder what percentage of Edition buyers will still be wearing the same watch 2 years later. I'd bet most will have upgraded at least once by the time that third year of AppleCare would theoretically take effect.

I kept wearing my S0 Watch till this year when I lost the charger. I stopped using it because the battery is not as good as it used to be and because I was going to get this one.

So yea, me! :D

The way the Apple Watch depreciates, I think most probably keep the Apple Watch a minimum of two years before they upgrade again, especially with more expensive stainless/titanium models, you certainly take a hit on those, because the value plummets after next year‘s model releases. Then again, for those who actually purchased the ceramic/stainless/titanium models, they probably don’t really care about the resell value as much, especially if they plan on keeping it for at least two years.

Yeah, that was my thinking. I bet the percentage of "Edition" buyers who update annually is higher than the general population of Apple Watch buyers who do. I do agree that most (across all Apple Watch trim levels) probably don't upgrade each release.

Wow. Going from S0 to S2 was a dramatic leap in performance and user experience. The S5 is going to blow your mind!

I remember preordered the S0 stainless case with Milanese loop and later upgraded to the S3 ceramic case. Technically my S3 watch AppleCare is still good for another full year and I am eyeing the titanium model with the new WatchOS 6 features. I still have the S0 watch and intend to keep the S3 around.

After watching so many videos I canceled my silver titanium order and placed an order for the stainless steel instead.

Brushed Titanium just doesn’t suit me I guess. Got an expected shipping date of Sep 30 to Oct 3.

what videos?

what videos?

I watched the AppleInsider, injustice and The Verge videos. Also the photo posted here with what seems like might be a scratch on and around the Digital Crown.

I was not exactly a fan of the titanium color gradient but I wanted it for durability and if that is not the case then SS is better because it is polished at least so can be fixed.

Here’s the thing, with the regular stainless Apple Watch, if you lightly scratch it, you can restore it back to new condition with a polishing cloth. If the titanium scratches, I doubt there’s any remedy to restore it. Not to mention, I just prefer the weight of the 316 L stainless. Either way, good choice. You won’t regret it.

Just read about the weight comparison on 9to5mac, I'll go for the stainless steel 44mm casing as I prefer something a little bit heavier.

Haven't seen the 9to5mac article yet, but remember we're talking 6.1 grams difference, with the stainless steel being just under 15% heavier than the titanium model.

That's enough to be noticeable in a side by side comparison but I suspect maybe not in day to day independent use.

Choose which you prefer of course, just sharing info and opinion.

Yeah, it seems that the titanium falls right in between the aluminum and steel weights. I’m not sure that would be noticeably day to day.

I placed an order for the Space Black Stainless Steel the day preorders opened.

Looking at that Titanium has me gravitating towards cancelling the Stainless Steel and ordering that Space Black Titanium. That brushed finish looks like it will match better with my Space Black Link Stainless Steel Bracelet vs polished case on brushed bracelet.

Definitely looks better with the Space Black vs standard Titanium and Stainless Steel link bracelet.

I actually think the regular titanium looks better with the SB link bracelet than it does with the steel link bracelet. With the black bezel on the display it ends up as only two contrasting colors instead of three.

I think both colors of titanium work well with the SB link bracelet.

I’ve had SS in every version, have been very happy with it. Sticking with it for the 5!

I ended up changing my mind and going to try an Edition Watch for the first time and give the Space Black Titanium a go. Keep looking at photos and love that matte finish, I think it will look excellent on my Space Black Link. Plus, I do watch reviews, and I’m hoping to be one of the only ones that does some really good comprehensive reviews on this version.

I’ll be posting tons of photos when I get it.

I keep thinking about that SB link bracelet - except I use my watch for running and like a sport loop for that. Seems like I'd be doing a lot of band changes. Is it difficult? Easy? Any experience to share there? Also saw that Nomad titanium band, seems pretty nice too.

It's easy and it just takes a few seconds to swap bands. I still find it annoying, though.

I think the sport loop is by far the most comfortable band, but it's terrible to use for workouts. The sport band is the best for workouts. The link band looks the classiest. For me, my laziness means that I just leave the sport band on the watch even though it's my least favorite, because it's a pain to swap it out every time I go for a run. I only put on the link band when I'm dressing up.

Everyone's tolerance for that sort of hassle is different, I suppose. I mean, some people here have dozens of bands. So clearly a lot of people don't mind swapping bands at all.

Had SS S0 S3 watches with a Milanese loop and considering a titanium S5.

The extras you get with Titanium ‘Edition’ have been mentioned but does anyone know if it comes with additional edition watch faces over the normal SS?

Also any pictures out there of a Milanese loop on a titanium S5?

I think I’m going to wait and see them in person to choose!

I was also torn between the SBSS and the SB Titanium. I do want to wear it with the SB Link band which I currently have on my S4 SBSS. Here is why I will stick with SBSS (actually going Hermes for the extra watch faces which will show more with always on):

1. While the SB link band is brushed, it is extremely polished and glossy on the sides. So looking at the watch and band from the side, the glossy flows much better into the glossy watch case on the SBSS, while there is a clear optical variation between the glossy side of the link band and the brushed Titanium case.
2. The SB link band is brushed “vertically”, while the Titanium case is brushed “horizontally”. This will furthermore make the bank look apart from the case, while on the SBSS it connects visually more naturally.
3. The black material used in the crown of the Titanium does not look to be Titanium and it is not brushed. This makes the crown from the side look like another material mix, where on the SBSS the glossy black inner circle of the crown exactly matches the black steel of the case.

The devil is in the detail and of course all will depend on the real world looks once we get it.

The sport band is all I've ever used. Its so comfortable.

Apples fluoroelastomer bands are riiculously comfortable, thick and very pliable, the don’t carry any synthetic odor, and they literally don’t break down. You can even remove stains off them with a magic eraser. I would happily pay the $50.00 for Apples sport bands v.s. _any_ third party.

You sound like as much of a watch guy as I am, and I thought of these details as well. The direction of the brushing and polished sides of the bracelet does not throw off the flow as much as you’d think. I remember having a Breitling Superocean with the brushed finish case and bracelet. I’m posting photos, the case brushing also goes horizontal to the vertical brushing of the bracelet, but the rounded edges don’t throw it off as much as you think. The flow continues along the sides. It is also not uncommon for the polished sidelinks, I see that all the time from many different manufacturers.

Ultimately if I slap that Space Black Link on the Titanium case and it doesn’t work for me, it’s going back, and I’ll swap it for the Space Black SS case and call it a day. But I’m getting a feeling it will work well.
