I don't feel anything one way or another for anyone who owns any phone! 🤣

That's silly!

Okay maybe I cringe just a tiny bit when I see someone wielding an iPhone in a case that has a window on the back for the Apple logo to show through it. LOL.

For me the thinness of the Air makes up for it being wide. Still big and a bit hard to handle, but the overall handling feels similar to any smartphone these days such as the 17 Pro or others. Anyway the whole iPhone lineup this year is phenomenal, no matter which one you picked, they're all great. I love my Air, huge upgrade over my 13 Pro, and the bonus of how light it is makes that 13 feel like a brick now, it's wild.

Buying something or not buying something has nothing to do with respect or compassion. It’s a financial transaction and based on your own choice. You want this phone and you have the money? Buy it. You want the phone but don’t want to pay the price? Don’t buy it. You don’t want the phone, don’t buy it.

You’re not doing anything brave or courageous by buying or not buying. You are not going to be celebrated or condemned for it.

You’re buying a piece of consumer-grade technology that is expensive for a consumer item, but it’s not particularity expensive when compared to more essential items - a home, medical treatment, education etc.

Worrying about being vilified or not celebrated enough for a tribal consumer decision is insane. It’s as profound as choose between a Mars or a Snickers.
This really shouldn’t be important.

If having a dilemma over how owning an iPhone air affects your emotional self-worth, then it’s very clear that the phone is not the problem.

Or Mac Rumours is just starved of content to keep their daily article / forum traffic quotas. That could be a reason for these very weird threads. There’s only so many times you can repackage the same rumour into a new article.

Is this what a cult looks like? WTH is this? Is it that hard to enjoy your shiny new phone without typing a thesis?

I guarantee you the hate is not towards the phone but to posts like this.

Why hate at all? People like to complain the excitement is gone from apple, and yes the good old days were fun, but back then people shared technical tips to help each other. Not hate. And funny how it’s always the same people spreading hate regardless the topic. And they cry when it gets pointed out to them. So yeah why hate at all?

It makes me wonder if forums are totally doomed, barring some easy/accurate way for forum software to weed this stuff out.

The larger problem becomes people who are too lazy to articulate their own thoughts and devolve down to asking an LLM to do it .. and then copy/paste it in, sometimes only as part of their post.

I have no idea how you deal with this as a forum operator.
Funny you mention that because I am a forum moderator, message board admin and FB group admin for different social media sites and have to say that recently posts have become very strange with erratic questions, answers and statements - almost triggered by AI.

Thank you!

Air has been so much better than the Pro I came from and fits *my* needs.

Love to be the new tech adopter.
Yes yes new tech adopter 🙄

First Apple removes accessories such as headphones, then the power adapter, now with the Air removes a camera, half the battery and one less speaker and it’s called innovation. When Apple stops including a USB-C charging cable it will be called extreme courage while charging the same or more (well it’s more since less is included).

Why not just remove the one remaining speaker and camera and have it as a stacked phone system and that will be called bleeding edge tech from the visionaries at Apple Inc. This twisted mindset from Apple loyalists is just beyond comprehension and anything will be used as it’s justification to defend Lord Apple and I am an Apple investor. 😅

Feels like a United Colors of Benetton moment.

People are critiquing the features in iPhone Air. Nobody I've seen is critiquing the owners. It's actually the other way around. Some Air users are asking why Pro users need long battery life or why they use speakers at all.
iPhone Air customers know deep down that their have paid more for less but try to substantiate their reasoning as to not look like sheep.

It’s a tad bit daft complimenting certain iPhone owners. As if they’re not knowing what they’re doing or just doing it to spite others.
I am sure iPhone Air users wouldn’t mind purchasing an overpriced empty box and then claim that Apple is helping them to be less dependent and addicted to mobile devices and will defend that people who don’t jump onboard or sympathize with them just don’t understand or are haters.

I was in the Apple Store today, the air is very cool, the reason I don't buy one is I don't need 6.5 inch screen. But the overall design is clearly how Steve Jobs would design future smartphones.
Its so light you don't feel it in your hand. I hope one day a smaller version coming out.
To all Air users, congratulation for this perfect device.

Don’t be sorry for having the courage to speak your mind, even when it feels like the entire world is against you.

It wasn’t that long ago that it was Apple vs the world. Android users boasted about how big their market share was, about how “open” their platform was, of the lack of flash support, of hardware features like expandable storage that either came later, or never came at all to iOS devices. In the face of this overwhelming opposition and negativity, there was a special pride that brought us Apple users together. It took a certain amount of personal conviction to stand against “the default” of windows / android dominance. Year after year, Android users would laugh at us for “paying more for less”, and we endured, and we thrived.

Because we believed.

In a sense, I find the iPhone air to be so quintessential Apple. The Pro Max packs the best specs and hardware features, which also makes it the safe and boring choice in that users do not have to grapple with tradeoffs and compromises that used to define Apple. It has the largest screen, the best cameras, the longest battery life. You really can’t go wrong with it.

I am currently still holding on to my 13 pro max. At the time, my heart did contemplate the 13 mini for a while, but the head ultimately won out. I don’t regret my choice, as I appreciate not having to deal with battery anxiety for most part. And it’s because of this that I respect those who ultimately let their heart win out over their head even more.

Here’s to those who believe. To those who see the iphone air in all its tainted glory and decide that this one advantage (its thin and light form factor) is worth every other drawback combined.

I salute you. 🫡

Thank you brother that was so beautiful what you wrote.

Do you wanna start a cult with me? I’m not vibrating like I ought to be.

I tried the air. I wanted to love it. It's good. I could live with it.

However, it's very thin. Yes, it's suppose to be. I feel like the entire phone seems a bit small. I almost wish it was this thin, but the size of a Pro Max. I didn't care for the Pro Max this year either. It feels a bit big and air is a bit small.

I went back to my 15 Pro Max for now, which feels like a happy medium between them.

When the iPhone Air was announced, there was a lot of noise — people nitpicking, comparing, even asking if Air buyers should feel embarrassed. From the single speaker to its design choices, the criticism came fast.

But here’s the thing: the Air isn’t a compromise. It’s a statement. It’s a beautifully engineered, premium iPhone built for people who value balance — performance, design, and comfort — not just specs on paper.

I was originally going to get the Air myself, but it turned out a bit too wide for how I use my phone day to day, so I went with the iPhone 17 Pro instead. Still, my respect for the Air hasn’t changed one bit.

To all the Air owners out there — ignore the noise. You made a solid, confident choice. You picked what fits your lifestyle, not what fits someone else’s opinion. That’s real tech maturity.

I may have gone Pro, but I’ll always be standing with the Air crew — because real innovation isn’t about chasing trends; it’s about knowing what works for you. 💪📱✨
I have zero regrets going from a 15PM to the Air. While yes, I do miss the speakers, the bigger battery and extra cameras. The reality is that I wanted something different, and with a thinner body and a lighter weight it fit my needs. I love the bigger screen and now I dont notice the speakers as much, and the battery has been great personally.

Those complaining about the Air still are people who WANT to love it but cant justify it because of reasons as "its not the PRO, or I cant go from x to lesser" because its a status thing with Apple.

I bought the Air as it fits me and my needs, and thats it. Don't like it? Buy the base model, buy the Pro models. I cant believe people are still trashing the Air when most of you haven't even tried it for yourself and listen to your Youtube influencer gods/stupid tech sheets you are obsessed with.
