Looks good to me but I bet Mcdj will have some whiney rhetoric which I'm sure will follow soon - if not pickle me grandma in malt whisky.

Enjoy your perfectly good iPad as I and many others have been for weeks.

Look , I am not here to be some kind of defender or superhero but I certainly can relate to what mcdj or aka ocdj :p because I too have had the exact experience as him and I am in no way a screen technologists or have any background in graphics, photography or any of that jazz. That being said I am also not blind and do currently have a bad screen, my 4th to be exact.

Before any criticism is played upon another person, perhaps you haven't seen the iPads one has received and for anyone to make a judgement ,just doesn't sit right !

Well I'm not one to dissapoint. The screen looks like most of the ones I've encountered. Uneven lighting, and greenish/dim down the left side. Probably no big deal in every day use. Just don't expect to enjoy looking at black and white photography on it.

Your cool, I wish Apple would hire you to handle quality control - U Da man....

Maybe this is ignorance on my part but how can a judgement be made on an iPad's color distortion/issues based on a photograph which most likely has some level of color distortion itself?

The colors/contrast/brightness of the defect won't be exactly the same in a picture, but the distribution of it will be. A camera can change the tint, but it isn't going to put a red blotch in one corner and a green blotch in another that just happens to exactly match what you see with your eyes.

To confirm, you can then use the same camera to take a picture with the iPad 2 and while you may not see an accurate reproduction of the color, you'll see it has no uneven areas.

OP, did you ever stop to consider that maybe those "people with perfect screens" are for all intents and purposes normal, and you're hyper-sensitive?

"Don't sweat the small stuff" comes to mind. If a user can look at their screen and say "it's perfect," it's none of your damn business to butt in and say "but it isn't! Look, there's unevenness to the backlight in the upper quadrant!" If someone did that to me, I'd have to smack them.

We get it. You got a series of "bad screens" and feel burnt by it. Tell Apple, then move on. Evidently you have a hang-up about this issue and Mr. Cook is unable to placate you at this time. It may be frustrating, with you being incapable of finding happiness with the latest iOS device that you desire... but seriously, going through screen after screen, return after return? It's doing yourself more harm than good. It's getting to be neurotic behavior.

Having personally seen the pink/green color cast on a total of 9 different iPads, 5 of which came from different stores/shipments, I feel there are far fewer "perfect" iPads than perfect ones out there in the wild, that people are aware of.

There are several factors here.

1. Most iPad owners are not on macrumors.
2. Macrumors members without a screen problem (noticed or unnoticed) are not participating in the discussions about screen problems.

That said, I feel that there are a LOT of defective pink/green screens out there, and that people either haven't noticed, can't see it, or don't care.

Case in point, this post, whereby the poster shows the photo below and states "The backlight seems perfectly even on mine. The following pictures don't do it justice at all".

So far in the various threads, I've seen maybe 2 instances of a good looking screen, with photos. But I've read dozens of "my screen is perfect" posts.

I have a feeling some people are just not visually sensitive enough to see a poorly colored screen, as evidenced by the post and photo above.

So if you're gonna boast about your perfect screen, and call those who are seeing a problem crazy or OCD, how bout you put your money where your mouth is and show us a photo? If some of us are in fact OCD, some of you are, in fact, blind, and I just proved that.

I look at black and white photos all day on my perfect iPad 3. Have you ever thought that it was just you... so far about 101 people think so.

yep, that pic is just pink and green to me. no one else can see it.
