To the people who are saying that iPhone 4's new features aren't worth upgrading for

What kind of upgrade do you want? What would make the iPhone 4 worthy enough to upgrade, besides the whole different carrier thing. I'm just curious. List them please. :D

I'm in line for the iPhone 4 -- from a GS, but if you are not into using your phone as a camera or video recorder I can see people's point. The screen is excellent, but is it worth the same price as a good computer monitor? Probably not. All the other major features are available in iOS4.

New Screen
new design
faster processor
improved signal
improved battery life
front facing camera
facechat
HSUPA
gyroscope
noise cancellation

....not available on iOS 4

I have a 32gig 3GS and still have plenty of space. I don't see the need for 64 on a phone. Now that I have an iPad I will downsize to a 16 , no need for movies on an phone now. IMO

That said the one thing I really wish they had added was a bigger screen. No reason they couldn't up size to like a 4in. , get rid of some of the unnecessary borders around the screen. Could of kept it the same size with less border.

Oh well , at least my 3GS is worth what I paid for it so I will put a $100 in my pocket along with a i4.

Same boat here, except the iPad thingy. I'm selling my 3GS and upgrading in full ($299 for 32GB). That should put me at am extra $25 in my pocket (after buying case + screen protector).

I know it won't be much of a jump, but I do take loads of pictures and video, so the camera upgrade will surely do awesomely. Also, we get a 2nd Gen GPS + compass, much better accuracy, not to mention HSUPA goodness.

First off I am getting the 32g and am very excited to be getting it. The reason I am staying with Apple is that I have money tied up in apps, I like the OS, and I trust the hardware quality.

That being said... The new EVO has the MiFi tethering on an actual 4g network, with a much bigger screen, and with less restrictions. The android market is catching up fast! If I had it to do over again I may have gotten the EVO and a WiFi iPad. I could have had the apple system I love but also be able to make calls and use the net at 4g speed (for both devises.

We have no idea is the HTC products will last 2 years or even 2 months. They could have a lot of features but be made as cheap as possible. My 2g iPhone is still amazing and loaded a web page faster that my neighbors EVO (not that I expect that to happen often) The new phones would need to prove they can last over time before I would leave the tried and true Apple products.

i am not to sure if you are into jailbreaking, but mywi would solve your tethering issues. its great if you need to use internet on ipad anytime. it just depends on when the jailbreak will be out for iphone 4.

I think if you are upgrading from 2G or 3G, there are enough compelling reasons. If you have a 3GS, it probably has another year left.

I had a 2G until my sister threw it under a bus and 'lost' it, but when the 3GS came out, I saw nothing too great about it. 2G to 4 has enough of a jump to make it worth it.

I am eligible to upgrade but I'm not sure if I will upgrade from my 3G yet. My 3G is basically doing everything I want it to except I would like the improved camera and also the video camera. I'm trying to decide though whether I want to upgrade or just buy myself a better digital camera that takes videos. My current camera is about four years old. We're taking a trip in October and I'm going to decide before then. I'm real anxious to see some sample videos taken with the iPhone 4 before I make up my mind. Other than these two features I don't see any reason to upgrade. I'm basically happy with what I have especially since I also have an iPads.

Since I skipped the iPad I dont have anything to teather to, not that it wouldnt be nice to have it as an option.

If enough people are able to jb with out much issues I may do it just for the lock screen notifications. Hate to go through that much effort but the push notifications are pretty useless. I'm still holding out hope that apple will just fix this, cant be that hard.

Thanks for the advise :)

The iPhone 4 is perfect for me. I have a 16GB 3GS and am currently using 500MB of space. I don't keep movies, music, etc on my phone. I have an iPad for that stuff.

Seriously? Pink is not as popular a colour for women as you seem to think. How many women even wear pink that often? I don't think I have a single pink outfit in my wardrobe.

/off-topic rant :)

pink is my sisters favorite color. she wears it 4 days every week. her blackberry is in a pink case. it's popular. I can't walk around the mall without seeing tons of girls wearing pink one way or another

Same here, pink is very popular with girls I know. Based on the fact that the poster said "colour" instead of "color" maybe they are not in the US.

The leap from 3GS to 4 is way bigger than 3G to 3GS. I skipped the 3GS for this reason, so 3G to 4 will be pure aces :)

Love the screen res and what appears to be a much better camera, my only slight disappointment is the lack of a 64gb. 4G, as in LTE, is pointless here in the UK for at least another year.

ahh i see.. well i do not like apples notification system either (pop up) so there is a jailbroken app called grip. it never really caught on, but a few members use it and its by far superior to apples pop ups. here is a sample video i just youtubed. works for all notifications including mail.

Well, I'm on a 3G and I'm upgrade eligible. Let's get that cleared up straight away. ;) I may upgrade, I may not. I'm gonna wait and see the devices in my Apple store and do some reading after all the hoopla has died down.

My main gripe is Facetime. I do a lot of Skype calls and sorely wanted the 3GS to have a forward-facing camera. I don't love the way Facetime is being implemented. Wifi only is disappointing (yet somewhat understandable). But usable between other i4s only is kinda pointless for me. I want to be able to interact with other people who are at their computers or phones (and by phones I mean Android users, Nokia peeps, anyone). Now I realize this may change with the protocols being open... but if that's the case I don't really understand why Apple is even bothering with an app.

Secondly, I'd like to be able to see some info on the lockscreen. Like, who an email is from. Etc. I password lock my phone and it's a pain having to unlock every time to see stuff. Apple seems to be big on insisting the iPhone is more than just a phone... and yet they ignore this on the lockscreen, only showing info for phone related stuff. Jailbreaking is an option, I know, but I don't want to go that route.

So, you asked a question. There's my answer.

I'll wait and see.
