Toblino 2: Napa Leather Case. (Open Bezel, Auto Sleep Wake)

after reading the positive reviews of the toblino 2

I ordered the case from Amazon, however when I received the case I discovered two defects, both at the left clips (top and bottom)

I have taken the pic .. Anyone experience the any similar situations ?

But I am also waiting on an update from rdodge on production of the Argyle case for the iPad 2 🙁

Sorry I have been traveling this week. I got a sample of the Argyle and I was unhappy with the quality so I made them start over. We are probably looking at the end of June for that case. We have pink leather and several colors of Microfiber being released this week. I will try to send pictures of those tomorrow.

As far as orders outside of the, you can email or PM me your details and I can send you an invoice.

The biggest problem is there is no cheap and reliable way to send overseas. We have one method that costs about $15 that takes 2-3 weeks (or more) with no tracking or we can send it for about $37 in 3-5 days with tracking info.

I have been trying to get the cases into Amazon.co.uk so it can ship to many EU countries, but they move very slowly. We have also been selling them in the US as fast as we can make them so we have not been really eager to expand until we get more supply.

Received the case today and I really like it, except for one thing - the workmanship on the two middle tabs has the gray lining trimmed really poorly. It ends up making a very nice case look cheap and hastily made. You basically end up seeing gray against the black bezel and it detracts from the overall appearance.

I'm a medical student and little details always seem to catch my eye (you WANT a physician who notices the details though). Other than these glaring flaws this case is quite nice.

I'm a happy trooper today! Came home and saw that the postman had come by with my Tobino 2! It's been a tough week, playing with my iPad and not able to bring it out of the house because my casing had not arrived.

The packaging for freight was done well. The case was plastic wrapped and then encased in a hard cardboard wrap around shell which provided sufficient shock protection. I liked it, mainly because my case had to be shipped to Singapore and postage cost is a major factor. The way they did it was sufficiently light weight (only 100g heavier than the case itself), water proof and shock proof.

Stitching was done evenly so it's hard to find fault in that department. However, I do notice uneven cutting on the grey micro fibre lining but in no way does it look like it was cut by a 3-year old.

The leather is smooth to the touch and feels sufficiently good quality. And I am convinced it is not pig leather. It gives off a good subtle leather smell but I did feel my hands getting a little sticky after using it for a while which is probably the leather conditioner the manufacturer used. Hopefully that goes away after a while.

The cut-outs for the camera and other controls are well positioned. Unlike the Noreve Tradition B, the camera cut-out is not as precise and has a little more space than it should, and the camera is positioned slightly off centre.

The clips work as they should. Brand new, they are easy to snap on and off the ipad while maintaining a tight enough grip. I was worried that the clips would scratch my BSE back protector but that's unfounded. No issues for my front screen protector too. Again, the microfiber lining the clips are a bit messy but many things in life are far from perfect, especially when they are made in China (ps. my forefathers were from there).

I feel that the case provides sufficient protection. It feels solid, tough and weighs that way too! What does the Toblino case have in-between the leather and the lining? Rdodge, care to enlighten us on that? By itself, one wouldn't notice the weight, but with the iPad in it, my scales show a good 900+g! That's almost a kilo!

The 2 viewing positions are as advertised. Nothing to shout about. The typing position is fine! Minimal bouncing as I type this review which I feel will definitely go away after a week of use. Potential buyers of this case have nothing to worry about in this regard.

The reason why I choose this case design over a design employed by a case such as the Vaja Libretto or the Leather Agenda is because I am uncomfortable with the inside of the case placed against the top of the table or whatever surface I may rest my iPad case on while viewing movies. I like how the design of cases like the Toblino 2 or another case like the Noreve Tradition B keep the lining of the case untouched in most of it's positions.

Overall, this case is built well enough to last beyond the 1-2 years I will be keeping this iPad. At it's USD39.90 price, it's not something I would moan too much about when I see another case worth upgrading to.

Finding a case worth upgrading to might just be the problem. Something lighter (top priority), with the same design and with better workmanship and leather in the USD30-60 price range? I haven't seen one yet and would appreciate it if other forummers are able to point me in the right direction.

An additional feature which I can think of is a tight band to be placed at the back of the front cover for users to slip their fingers through when holding the ipad like a book with the cover completely folded behind.

But maybe it's just me.

I believe these microfiber cases are going to be limited quantity only.

I have bad news about the Argyle, I don't think we are going to produce it. We just have too many issues and we want high quality cases or not do it at all. I know this will make Adexis very sad as well.

They are hand sewn and we only produced 500 for the iPad 1 as a test. We tried to mass produce for the iPad 2 and it just wasn't working.

I am incredibly sad to hear this, as are many others I am sure. I was really intent on purchasing the Argyle Case for the iPad 2 🙁
