Happy birthday. Wish you were here. Miss you

Yeah.... I've had an account since Mar 2002..... think I used this site without an account at first.

I have looked at macrumors most days since then, I think their grading system sucks as like you I'm still only a "macrumors regular" !

Maybe they should give out some honorary titles....

Agreed on all accounts

I think the real problem is neither of us contribute enough posts. I always though it divided the posts count by the length of the account being open, but no.... it is just total posts.

Indeed. I'm more of a daily front page story scanner than contributor, unless I feel compelled to do so. Great to see that MacRumors has maintained its position as the premier Apple rumours site. Have seen many come and go since the early 2000s.

Well Steve, you are much missed but I don't think you would like the shape of things at the moment.
All the silly froth is getting the attention and computers that actually work and have a long life are history.
However we will keep our fingers crossed for some changes at the top and changes in the ethos of design and a new realisation of exactly what Apple was best at.

Steve really was one of a kind. Iconic picture of an Iconic man.....

hehe go on bite!!
That movie was terrible.

R.I.P. Steve and grats MR for sticking around so long.

I can't wait to see MR turn 61... which is when we'll have posts on what Steve would have not done, on the yearly-gate story, on how Apple is doomed, on how Tim Cook's recently gained immortality is a useless feature, and of course the latest analyst predictions on what Apple is working on.

Always wondered why they say "what WOULD of been his, or anyone else's birthday today"

If today is 61 years from the date you are born, then today if your 61st birthday.
Be you dead or alive does not alter this fact.

Only difference is you are not here in person

Happy Birthday to both you guys at MacRumors and to Steve. I'm one of those big Apple Fan boys. Almost every major tech has to be Apple. i.e. MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, iPad, iPhone, AppleWatch, etc. I also visit MacRumors EVERY day, every morning, and at times 2 to 3 times a day to check on things. And it's the ONLY website I really go to for Mac related news. So thank you MacRumors for all the Rumors and what not. I enjoy it.

Dear Steve, God bless you Sir.

MacRumors: "Happy Birthday" - okay, now the nonsense that is celebrating a "birthday" of some code on a server is done with, maybe this will be a worthwhile opportunity for you to allow this to be a turning point where, from now on, you actually post WORTHWHILE stories with no more misleading click-bait, distorted titles. I believe you CAN do it, you just have to WANT to.

Oh stop. It's not his 61st birthday. He's dead. If could have been his 61st. Sheesh. Obviously people know that but it gets old when people celebrate a birthday for a dead person. It's weird and almost like they are in denial.

Thanks for sharing your personal pet peeve. But I don't see anything wrong with "marking" a birthday for someone who has died. It's not as though they baked him a cake with 61 candles and propped up an effigy.

First, this *is* in common connotation his birthday, since this is the day of the year on which he was born, which has no relationship to living status (perhaps you are referring to "birth date"?).

Second, did you really come into this thread just to tell everyone to stop doing something that isn't hurting you or anyone else?

Third, Frodo celebrated Bilbo's birthday with a party every year for 17 years (and probably many more thereafter), not knowing if he was alive or dead. :p
