RIP Steve Jobs, Apple will never be the same without you. Although I must say that I'm not one of those people that thinks "Apple is doomed" without Steve.

And congrats MacRumors for being around for so long. I've actually been coming here since almost the beginning, probably right around when the original iPod was announced, but I've been mainly just a reader of the site and a lurker in the comments/forums, and my account name has changed over the years as well. I've been meaning to post more here, but we'll see if that actually happens. I do often read the insanely long (10+ page) threads here, it's quite entertaining. :p

Anyway, here's to another 16+ years for MacRumors!

Thanks to MacRumors for keeping us entertained!

This is one of my daily go-to sites, and my first when I have a lull at work (like right now). :)

A treasure trove of information and opinion (thankfully both pro AND against); I have made decisions on whether to stick with Apple, wait, or even try competitior's products (love Sammy Note phones) based on the info discussed here.

This site has even made me money:

I found out about a couple of Apple's repair programs here, resulting in Apple reimbursing me $300 one time and $1,000 on another instance.

Happy Birthday!!

That movie was terrible.

R.I.P. Steve and grats MR for sticking around so long.

I watched the Michael Fassbender one recently and despite contrary opinions I greatly enjoyed it, so I'll have to put this one on my "to watch" list and see how it compares.

Couldn't agree more - If I added up the hours over the years I've spent reading MacRumors, the number would be embarrassingly large (see my join date)! But I've also gained a tremendous amount by staying up to date (and often one step of others who were less informed) and really appreciate the resource this site has been.

It's a different world now. I sorta miss those early days of MacRumors when it felt like no one else was paying any attention to Apple. Amazing how time flies and so much changes.

He looks like young Steve Jobs ... and that's about it. The rest of the movie is just Ashton Kutcher. You can tell he's really trying ... and it's one of his better performances ... but the movie was still terrible.

I'm waiting on the press release where Tim Cook insists that Apple will always be Steve's company or in their DNA or something along those lines while doing everything against what he stood for or would have done. Cook's lip service is entirely unconvincing at this point.

I cannot stress it enough, Steve's presence at Apple is truly felt and missed. Now they're becoming just another tech company...

Looks like MacRumors can finally get its driver's license now :p

Congrats though! 16 years is a long time for following a single company, and I can't even imagine what following Apple's rise to the top would have been like. I've only been following tech news very closely since 2013, so I missed out on a lot. What I would't give to have started following tech around the time of the OG iPod.

Steve to me mainly changed the world because he should them how to make technology an enjoyable experience and stylish for the common user, not by releasing products with a designer's brand name but by designs that actually give a better user experience both in hardware and software.

As for macrumors, I used to go to Spymac but we all know how that ended

Happy birthday, Steve. You're definitely missed.

[doublepost=1456374363][/doublepost]And happy birthday to Macrumors. I still remember joining this site in 2013, just a few weeks before getting my first iPhone (5S) Time sure flies man. Best times on this site are 6 days from iPhone launch day and the actual launch day. The paranoia, insanity, and ocd level of package tracking = pure hilarity.

"OMG I ordered my iPhone at 2:02am, will I get it on launch day?"

"What if I have to work and miss the UPS man delivering my package?"

"Apple.com crashed and I got my preorder in late! Now I have to wait an extra week to get my phone!!! *angry emoticon*"

"YES!!! MY CARD WAS JUST CHARGED!!!"

"I still haven't gotten my tracking number yet!! Did my preorder not go through?!?!?!"

"The Pope is coming back to the States...ugh if this delays me getting my iPhone...."

Seriously, I love you guys.

Today marks what would have been Steve Jobs' 61st birthday, and Apple fans around the world are once again remembering the late Apple co-founder and former CEO on Twitter and in our discussion forums.

Coincidentally, today also marks the 16th birthday of MacRumors, launched by Arnold Kim on February 24, 2000 -- before OS X, iPods, iPhones, iPads, and more. As always, we express our gratitude to the readers, contributors, volunteers, sponsors, and all those who allow us to continue sharing the latest Apple news and rumors.
Jobs co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne in 1976, and the roots of the company were based in the garage of his childhood home in Los Altos, California. He worked at Apple for 25 years, over two separate stints between 1976 and 2011, in addition to founding NeXT in 1985 and funding Pixar in 1986. Jobs passed away on October 5, 2011 following a lengthy illness.

I have been reading from almost the beginning, though I didn't bother registering on the forums for a few years. I have to say I rather miss Steve Jobs being at Apple, and I miss MacRumors.com too. I don't really care so much for SpeculativeiPhoneMockups.com, NewEmojis.com, and FacebookNews.com. I'd be lying if I said I visited this site as much as I used to ten years ago, or even five years ago.
