I use it somewhat for tasks I know it will understand. Mostly to call certain people and I like how I can even add “on speaker“ and it turns that on. I guess that saves me time. Also I use it to play certain songs or albums while I am driving. Other than that it’s difficult to know when it will work or won’t.

“Hey Siri, have you got better over the past ten years?”

”here’s what I found on the web about battering pasties and tin shears”
Please tell me you made that up. Dying 😆😆😆😆

Besides timers, I’ve given up on uttering new phrases to Siri. All “complex” requests are issued thru a known preset phrase + Shortcuts.

sorry, this is one of few things Siri *can* do (just tried using my 6s).

I even asked about "the day after tomorrow" and it gave me the weather for Wednesday (today being Monday).

But: agree - often boggles my mind how limited it is.

Best example: cannot add Siri to my movie database app. Because searching for a movie is only possible for playback using iTunes/aMusic/aTV, but not for a custom database application. 10 years later: no custom domains. seriously?

I used to be able to do this with my iPhone 6...but not with my current 12 mini (just tried again).

Strange. You'd think it would all work the same across any Apple product.

man, the 4s was the best upgrade ever, despite being an 's'. 8mpx cam over 5mpx, siri vs the ridiculous voice command, and the most important thing for me — for the first time the u.s. you could buy an unlocked version.
Yeah, for me it was the first iPhone where I didn't really feel like I needed to upgrade for a few years.

Forget Siri! iPhone 4S! And I still have mine and use it every day - mostly as a cooking timer though! Didn't even know it had Siri, so I just set that up - and it works! Happy days!

Siri is a perfect example of why apple shouldn’t care about being first to release a certain feature. They usually don’t, which gives them the time to say no to lesser options, to develop and refine, but for some reason they rushed to make Siri happen and have been saddled with an inferior product ever since.

I use Siri all the time for setting reminders, calendar appointments, setting timers, and Googling things while I'm cooking or otherwise occupied. Works great, most of the time.

Am I the only person who never has issues with Siri? Seriously. I’ve had more issues with Google Assistant over the years than I’ve had with Siri.

10 years on and she still can’t understand around half of my requests. Shocking!

Funny that I never use Siri. I just don’t feel like talking to a computer unless the talking thing worked like Startrek.

Besides, using Siri is really gross with an iPad. I end up with spit all over the screen.

Blows my mind how bad Siri still is. I can talk to Google voice in the roughest of tones and it’s almost always right on the response. Siri is terrible on interpreting the simplest of commands

Perhaps it because Google collects more data than Apple does. The more data it collects, the better AI becomes. This is why China is ahead of the United States in Artificial Intelligence. There is little to no privacy law there! The government can collect almost any data they want from the their own citizens.

I use Siri to turn on and off my lights, play music (on HomePod Mini) and ask for game scores or weather updates.

I guess that's plenty - not sure what else I would need her?

My kids are disappointed they can't play song games like Google offer — one Nest mini in my son's bedroom.

And hurry up Google and add Apple Music to it in Canada!

Forever young.....🎵 and full of childish pranks. When will you show some maturity Siri? It's been 10 years and I have to repeat the same things over and over again. Grow up kid.
