They actually demoed this during the announcement. It rewinds the video and turns on subtitles for that section as well. Probably one of the more common things I use Siri for on the Apple TV.You can ask Siri what someone said while watching something?! Since when?
But it is really good at that and alarms. I really just want my "assistant" to do little things like that. I don't want to converse with it, I don't want it to confirm it did something, I just want it to do what I ask and shut up. Siri is good for that for the most part. And it’s still weak at doing anything besides please set a timer for 10 minutes.
I wish the same with my Google home.
"Hey Siri, is it going to rain today?"
"Yes, looks like rain."
"Hey Siri, how about tomorrow?"
"There's a chance of rain after 12am."
sorry, this is one of few things Siri *can* do (just tried using my 6s).
I even asked about "the day after tomorrow" and it gave me the weather for Wednesday (today being Monday).
I use Siri all the time for setting reminders, calendar appointments, setting timers, and Googling things while I'm cooking or otherwise occupied. Works great, most of the time.
Half the times I say “Hey sweetie” to Siri, my wife barges in and says “Sorry I didn’t hear you”. 😜 I personally find Siri useful.Half of the times I say "Hey sweetie" to my wife, Siri barges in and says "Sorry, I didn't get that"
Perhaps I need to do some kind of refresh. I am aware of that setting, however it just doesn’t work on my lil miniYou can absolutely do that. The feature is called "continued conversation" and you can keep asking questions without having to say "ok Google" over and over.
Tell me your not serious without telling me you’re not serious.I have used Siri since it came out multiple times a day for many tasks on iPhone, HomePods, Apple TV etc
I have had very little issues over the years.
Google Home has had continued conversations for about five years. You just need to turn the setting on in your app. You may have also missed this lovely feature… You can combine quarries and have complex requests. For example “hey google, turn off all the lights, set the burglar alarm to home and guarding, and wake me up at 5 AM to the song wake me up before you gogo”.I wish the same with my Google home.
I loved Siri before Apple bought it. If you asked her to find you a hooker it would show you Yellow Pages for escort servicesThey actually demoed this during the announcement. I think it's from a privacy perspective, but it's weird and a little frustrating that Siri still feels like it's catching up to itself from before Apple bought it.
Just watch this video of the original app. It's crazy how good Siri was 10 years ago. Can you imagine how useful it would be if they had continued down that path?
I don’t really give Apple credit for that. Siri was a standalone app that in my opinion, was actually better than it is now. Apple bought it and just took all the charm out of it and then slap their name on it and embedded it into ios.Remarkable at how ahead of the curve Apple was with implementing it.
Doubly remarkable at how they completely, utterly, seemingly unashamedly, squandered that lead.

Siri was acquired, not apple made. Apple just f-ed her up a lot. And in a decade should’ve been able to do something more with it Considering their resourcesSiri is a perfect example of why apple shouldn’t care about being first to release a certain feature. They usually don’t, which gives them the time to say no to lesser options, to develop and refine, but for some reason they rushed to make Siri happen and have been saddled with an inferior product ever since.
