Man... I loved being an Apple fanboi during Job's tenures at Apple. It's not really the same now.
Acupuncture is make believe which was pushed on the western world by Mao Zedong. After hearing about how Steve saved Forstall's life through acupuncture, kinda makes you wonder if it reinforced Steve's belief in alternative medicine which ultimately killed him.
The world misses you.
i’ll have to read the bio book again to double check but i think it was the opinion of many MDs.you will never know. It is only a simple opinion of some MD. By statistics he's right: 5% at 5years still alive/95% death.
PS: my wife passed away in 2015, same cancer.

Yes. As I said it “makes you wonder”.RIP SJ - I remember being somewhat saddened by the news, as I had recently bought a Macbook Pro at the time.
I think you'll find that it was the cancer that killed him and beyond that is highly speculative and unscientific - running counterfactuals based on statistics is not useful post facto.
What can we learn from Steve Jobs about complementary and alternative therapies?
"Many journalists mentioned and even focused on Jobs’ initial decision to forego conventional treatments and instead use complementary and alternative medical (CAM) therapies, including acupuncture, botanicals, and dietary changes (Grady, 2011). This was chronicled in his biography and corroborated via interviews with his friends and colleagues (Isaacson, 2011). However, what many journalists failed to note is that the evidence supporting any specific conventional treatment approach (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy) for GEP-NETs comprises a slim literature, and the evidence base for use of CAM therapeutic approaches for GEP-NETs is virtually non-existent. After a delay of nine months after diagnosis, in 2004, Jobs opted for surgery. He died 7 years later."
It is unknown whether Jobs’ outcomes would have been different if he had pursued surgery at the time of his diagnosis, or if had followed a specific chemotherapy protocol. And it is unknown how effective any of his acupuncture, botanical and dietary approaches may have been before or after his surgery.
Steve has had a stro no belief in alternative medicine long before starting Apple.
he did see modern western doctors and medicine. Your thoughts on this are off. I have a friend who’s former wife died of cancer and unfortunately she placed her faith in holistic medicine practices, and it tore him apart and I was sad about it for a long while. I cannot nor anyone can truly say that 1 medicine is better than the other but I will pose a thought that maybe both could’ve been considered and it’s always a case by case situation.
let’s avoid such dialog going further. No need to taint his memory or the memory of others lost that are close to other members here
Okay...? Seemed to work for scott. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ary-of-steve-jobs-death.2258661/post-28987134Acupuncture is make believe which was pushed on the western world by Mao Zedong.
whatever you want to believe
Acupuncture is make believe which was pushed on the western world by Mao Zedong.
I see the current version of Apple as being quite plastic and phony as compared to Apple several years ago, the pre-Tim Cook era. Yes, Tim has steered the Apple Ship in a direction of high profits and popularity among those who really do not know of the Jobs era of Apple. Cook has brought a plethora of new politically correct emojis and an even greater unneccessary push of political and social engineering. Apple is and should always be a TECHNOLOGY company and its products should be innovative, inspiring and "insanely" well designed. The loss of Steve Jobs and those around him, such as Jony Ive, has made Apple into a MARKETING Powerhouse pushing products based upon their social status ranking and bragging rights instead of their uniqueness and technological advances that are truly meaningful for the end users. And sadly, Apple has become quite Microsoft-Like with its endless tech failures and bug fixes utilizing its users as guinea pigs. I am still an Apple FanBoy, but the Apple just does not have its once famous luster and reputation anymore. It is all about the profits, which any company strives for. But the true innovation, enthusiasm, and inspiration died about nine years ago. Rest In Peace Steve Jobs.As a 37-year veteran of Apple products, I believe your comments are spot-on.
True, very true. The control factor is far "worse" than ever before. When a person purchases an Apple product, that is the end of the line for upgrading and longevity. Anything bought today should be upgradable in the immediate future to keep up with advances in technology. No, an Apple device should not become a Frankenstein assemblage of odd components and hardware. But it should allow for minimal operational improvements such as RAM, HHD/SSD, Video and Graphics, and Battery. Instead, the user is to "max out" the device at the point of purchase if he/she wants to ensure its immediate future proofing. Not all Apple Product Purchasers/Users have that sort of financial power at the point of purchase. Gradual upgrades and "fixes" would better suit all APPLE product purchases. Not everyone can afford a brand new Apple device every year to keep pace with technological advances. But I guess that flies in the face of extremely high profits and being part of the BILLION/TRILLION DOLLAR CLUB. Too bad, Apple has truly lost its user focus. The Cook era is focused on PROFIT! PROFIT! PROFIT! and the applianceification of their computers (Apple Silicon will render Macs unupgradable and unrepairable. Might as well glue them together at that point like the iPads)
The Jobs era was focused on good hardware and upgradability. (iMacs, MacBooks, Mac minis were all upgradable and repairable)
A new level of HIGH PROFITS, but certainly not a new level of inspiration, innovation, and RELIABILITY. Apple is just another Tech Giant, but no longer the leader in an industry SCREAMING and BEGGING for something NEW and DIFFERENT.His life outside of work and his life inside Apple are the total of Mr. Jobs. Brilliant inside of Apple, not so much, from what I understand, outside of Apple.
Steve, in keeping with his brilliant insight, did give us Tim Cook...who against all odds managed to keep the Apple soul going and who took Apple to a new level.
Apple is more about entertainment and their products being a status symbol in a society overwhelmed by celebrities and glamour. Technology, innovation, and inventiveness have all taken a quite distant back seat to the Eye Candy Generation. Too bad, the world needs TECHNOLOGY..............not another batch of damned politically correct cute little Emojis. The resources and investments of time and energy for such superfulous things can be seen in the lack of dependability of most Apple products these days. But we all want to be entertained and to hell with technology.Better? since when you don't buy something form apple or update your OS? 😆
you missed the part when i said “reinforced” his belief and “makes you wonder”.
nothing of what i said is false or malicious against steve.
