Who’s trolling? These picks by apple continue to be very underwhelming. But whatever. Have fun

"it will likely be an awards season contender"...

I would hope so. I could go outside right now with my iPad and film my two dogs fighting over a bone and it would be a contender. The movies I have choked down during the last six months have been rough.

I’m referring to her and her ilk.
Her ilk? Who do you mean? Please be specific; it’s only fair to warn people of the people you consider to be in her “ilk” that you think everybody should avoid on Apple TV+.

To be blunt, Hollywood's award winning movies now a day draw less then 1% of the box office figures theses day. Apple is still hung up on awards that almost nobody cares about who is not in the industry. They seem to be so out of touch with the general viewing public! ;)

What do you think the “general viewing public” wants to see?

LOL, there’s no “warning” anyone about anything here. Watch it and if you like it you like it. I don’t particularly care for her politics that she feels she must inject in to everything along with all the other shows and documentaries that are on that level. Watch and if you like it go for it. If you don’t like them you’ll be on the same page as me and millions of other people. We’re the reason why Apple hasn’t been able to sell this service 1 year + in to it.

Not a lot of the garbage they are producing. That’s why they have to give it away. Granted there are a few great shows in the mix, but the bad far outweigh the good.

You‘re giving no specifics. I am not sure how there can be a discussion if you won’t name the shows you have a problem with. So far it’s just the Oprah show that you’re against; I get that; not everybody likes Oprah. But you keep calling everything garbage, and only give one example: the Oprah conversations.

And you’ve given no indication of what the “general viewing public” wants to see. Just negative, overly general statements.

There’s really no “discussion“ to be had. Ted Lasso, Mankind, and Tiny World were great. Everything else ranges from ok to Tom Wilson (Washington Capitals) level of garbage.

Apple has to figure it out on their own. I can’t tell you what you will like and won’t like. You do that on your own. Most of what Apple has to offer is garbage and it shows by the number of paid subscribers they have.

Who actually pays for the service? Very few. If you don’t see that or can figure out why then that’s on you. If you work for Apple and would like me to fill our a survey please PM me a link and I’ll be happy to respond.

That’s fine. So those 3 shows are great and the rest are mostly garbage and you don’t want to get specific. Your initial post made it seem like you had very specific shows in mind that you thought were terrible, but it sounds like you dislike everything except those 3 shows. Thanks for clarifying.

I liked Mythic Quest, Morning Show, See was pretty good, and Tehran was pretty good. I also thought Defending Jacob was ok and I was a huge fan of Amazing Stories as a kid, and I thought the new version was a nice homage. The 1-hour stand-alone genre is much like a short story and I like short stories collections.

Sorry you don’t think there’s much “discussion” to be had. But we agree on one thing. Tom Wilson shouldn’t be allowed in the NHL… he’s a disgrace to hockey.

They want to see for the most part continuing on stories they liked in the past like: Fast and Furious, Top Gun, Mission Impossible, Thor, Ironman, Superman, Star Wars, Batman, Wonder Woman, James Bond, Punisher, Matrix, John Wick, etc...

Interesting research done on Hollywood sequels. They don’t usually do that well in America, but they make a lot of money overseas. In reality, sequels average 35% less domestic money compared to the original film.

More like: Hollywood doesn’t want to take a chance losing money on something new that might not be popular, so they milk the franchise as long as possible even though there are (usually) diminishing returns on each subsequent sequel.

To be fair I haven’t seen Tehran. I wanted to watch that one but it fell off my radar.

Mythic Quest has potential but it keeps falling in to tropes you can see coming a mile (4-5 episodes) away. It’s the typical humor you see on any of the big networks nowadays. I tried watching that See (I think that’s what it’s called) and literally fell asleep 3 times on the pilot episode. 😂

My son (12) and I watched the entire first season of Amazing Stories in anticipation of this new series. He didn’t want to watch some 80’s show with a cheesy intro at first, but then couldn’t get enough of it. Neither of us thought the new ones held a candle to the originals. Some of the stuff in there just felt forced in and really didn’t feel like part of the natural story telling process.

Tom Hank’s movie was ok. It wasn’t a waste of time, but at the same time it was nothing special either.

And yes there are a few shows I haven’t watched and never will.

Ted lasso and Mythic quest are kinda meh, I wouldn’t even call them great shows. And I’m an MMO guy

Did you like The Guild? Looked at MMO from the POV of the players (Mythic Quest from the POV of the developers).
