I gave up again... I just pre-ordered for November.
Gonna buy my z3 compact and then wait for my plus. Yes... I will have 2 phones. So what

Ok I manage to get and iphone 6+ for instore pick up a few minutes ago on the Apple store. I had to select 2 year contract and pay almost $700 dollars for the iPhone 6 plus 64GB. I had ATT NEXT as an option, but it won't let me do in store pick up, so I selected the 2 year contract. I got the email that say when is ready for pick up the will email me again. Do you guys think when I go in the store to pick up the phone they will let me switch it to ATT NEXT plan? What should I say to them to switch it. So I can return it right there and switch to ATT NEXT PLAN with out opening the phone?

That should work as long as Apple Stores have the option to do next with walk-ins. And I would hope that they would accommodate you rather then just saying no and selling to the reseller behind you.

I think what's happening is that there is a server pool for that handles the inventory api and also the first pass availability check form the site (before you go into the actual checkout part)

I use the ip6plus python inventory checker which works great and it shouldn't be doing any caching on the client side but I do notice that sometimes it reports inventory late, and then it will hold into it for 15 minutes while the actual stock was sold out in 30 seconds. 15 minutes seems like a nice round number that describes an update timer somewhere in the system.

so I think it's hitting a server in the pool that is just getting the stock updates not right away. The actual checkout part of the process is much closer to real time and I think that explains why the check out process is erroring out for a lot of people because it's probably a single server or at least a very small server pool that is responsible for that last part of the check out process.

Although I do think that the location check in the check out is closer to real time, it's only the very final purchase button that is actually compared to the real-time stock.

Also, I think different servers in the front line pool are not updated at the same time. so I might be hitting 1 server with my local python script while iStock is hitting a different. so we may not be seeing the same data.

I would like to compare notes with iStock though to see if this meshes what you think is happening. Supposedly, the inventory gets updated in real time as units get scanned into the system, so it doesnt match the behavior we are seeing where big batches of stock appear and disappear in multiple locations at the same time.

I'm pretty sure I saw evidence of per server caching last night. This happened a couple of times:

I think it's highly unlikely that stock returned for 30 seconds at 6:45am and more so that the API call just hit a different slow-to-refresh inventory server. Makes me wonder what the lag time on inventory propagation is.

Chicago Proper? I'm looking at Oak Brook, IL store. Been going there near daily. It sucks.

So you've been going to the store daily? I'm in Chicago too - what's your experience been? Any stock? When do you get there?

Sorry - just trying to pin down if I want to start waiting at one of the stores :)

100 ppl at Florida mall in line. opening in one hour. Employees are walking and ask individually.

Why is it so hard to find a 64gb Space Grey 6? 128gb is available for pickup in tons of CA areas but 64gb is all out.

Tonight 1am order online for in store pickup Saturday

Because one is more popular than the other one? :)

Any idea how many 6+'s they have?

Not at all. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1411737552.210492.jpg

Here the line going backstage.

No one seems to leave the line and employees still keep asking. Wonder if this means STOCK.

I will know soon.

So No 6+ but 6 64gb gold and 128 silver. Asked to get the t mobile. He said I could get the ATT paid full price and it is unlocked. I was really surprised about that. Said I had to remove att SIM and activate with other.<font color="#808080">

Anyone can confirm me this about ATT?<font color="#808080">

Maybe they decided to do this due to high tourists coming here. But it's a non sense.

That is correct of all phones aside from Sprint phones bought at the Apple Store, you pay full price its unlocked.

Ok thank you! There is a bunch of stock here. They just don't put them online for pickup. First come first serve apparently.

The one I want has showed up as available twice as as I check out it no longer says it is available. too slow.

Leave the phone in your cart then update the pickup when you see a slot open up at a particular store. That's my plan. #

Going tip be in NYC on business this weekend and Monday. Are their inventories any better?
