You don't have to activate the phone. You can leave with the phone. My friend bought an AT&T model for full retail and they didn't even ask for his AT&T account. He just walked out with a sealed phone.

I'm getting close to going to sleep, I'll try for 1am and if not, hope someone finds out the magical time tonight for the rest of us tomorrow..
 
I just got excited because the website refreshed a little bit slower than normal.

Le sigh. I cancelled my pre-order with October ship dates for this. It's going to be a long road it seems.
 
So do we actually have to cancel our preorder to reserve a phone tonight? Thought I saw a post from someone that you can order additional phones following opening day..
