It was the Domain. They said they just don't know and every day is a crapshoot. They also said that you have just as good of a chance hanging around the store all day and periodically coming in to ask what is available. Just as inventory updates online for pre-order, it updates throughout the day for walk-in.

Store opens at 10. I've been getting there about 9 and only 1-2 people are there. BUT there is a group of devout Muslims that is there every morning, and when the line starts, the whole family empties out of the car into the spot in line that's been held by the single family member who was "holding their spot" They all buy two each of whatever is there. Monday I got there at 9 and was just behind them and they snatched up all the remaining gold 128s (6, not 6 plus). Today I got there at 9:10 and they were (just) behind me. When the line forms and they are waiting, they all pull out their 6s and 6plusses to kill the time while they wait. I hope they get stiffed on eBay or wherever they are flipping these things.

If I get blanked tomorrow, I guess I'll see you there Thursday.

They were using their babies to buy two more per person. There was a couple in front of me that purchased 8 iPhones total. I was pretty pissed too, since they purchased the only 64GB Space Gray AT&T that they had available. Going to try to get there even earlier to beat them next time...

Finally bit the bullet and just pre-ordered through Verizon. Apple wouldn't let me keep my promotional deal I did with Verizon which was double the data for the same price. Was able to keep that so had to order through Verizon...now just have to wait for my 6+ 64gb!

Ya I have the same ticket and I'm supposed to get a response tomorrow as well. If I would've known I would've never canceled my pre-orders to try and get an in store pick up

same, have spent way too much time on this cause of this problem. will update tomorrow on what happens.

Well, what can the Apple store do? They are in line with money like everyone else.

8:30 should be plenty of time. Except for Stabucks, the Domain is a ghost town at 9am on weekdays because none of the stores are open. I've been pulling up at 9 and been able to park right in front of the Apple store on that little street that runs down the mall.

I think if you are at the store midday and you get a notice that they are in-stock, you can walk-in and get one.

See you there. :)

i say that and now theres 128gb 6 plus at the domain as of 6:15 sooo not sure if they're actually updating online the same time as walk ins.

Just picked up my space gray 128 gb verizon phone and stuck my AT&T sim card in it and so far so good. seems to work. not sure if it would be obvious wether there is partial compatibility or not but so far it's encouraging.

I was about to ask something related to that, actually. I heard that the pretty much all models except for sprint are the same and will work on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, do you guys think that's the case? I found this document on Apple's website denoting the different models and the carrier compatibility, and it APPEARS that this document is in-line with what I heard. Thoughts?

At the Domain? They had babies today, but were not letting the infants take orders from them. Didn't matter, the car was full of relatives. And they want unlocked phones, too, so being an AT&T guy we are not (usually) competing with the scalpers.

If you can get there and get someone's attention, you can get it. When you ask for a phone, they whip out a phone of their own and check their availability. The guy said it updates in real time. The advantage of being there pre-open is you get in line, and the guy comes to you and asks what you want and looks it up. If you walk into the store... you might be able to do the same thing, or you might be in the back of a line of people and not get to the guy until the phone is once again gone. Either way, it's a crapshoot.

I've been pretty disappointed to get blanked two days in a row, but I'll probably be back in line tomorrow morning. If the hunt wasn't half the fun, I'd just walk into a store in two weeks when there will be plenty of them.

Yup, at the Domain this morning. Maybe the guy taking the iPhone orders wasn't aware of this, but I explicitly remember each of the two people in front of me ordering a total of 8 iPhones. They were taking any model that they could, aside from the Sprint ones, of course. I have AT&T too, but I'm paying for this one in full. My two options are to wait for a T-Mobile version to become available for personal pick-up (I actually have yet to see a store have any in stock, using iStockNow) and pay for that one online, or to get lucky with an AT&T version (or T-Mobile) in store.

Referencing my previous post, I heard that the Verizon model is identical to the AT&T and T-Mobile models (aside from maybe the AT&T model being locked?). If that's the case, then it might make my search a bit easier.

But let's shed some optimism onto this! I think that Apple is finally starting to catch up to the demand, given that they actually had space gray pluses this morning in high capacities for several carriers. Of course, the presumed scalpers claimed them all before I got a chance to speak with the order-taker (I was number 5 in line today), but I'm confident that people will be able to purchase their desired model soon! Not to mention that Apple Stores are beginning to have higher amounts of stock for Silver and Gold models in various colors.

Keep hanging on, y'all! :)

verizon has the ability to connect to AT&T, but AT&T does not have the ability to connect to verizon because it's missing the CDMA hardware.

although, having the same model number tells me that maybe thats not right, that it could have the verizon hardware but its just not listed in this table.

your link seems to indicate its the exact same phone.

The AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile phones can be used interchangeably.

Yup, at the Domain this morning.

Bummer. Most of Monday's scalper group was not speaking English, so I just kept telling myself they were buying for relatives in countries that can't get them. This doesn't upset me, whereas the thought of them flipping on eBay does.

PS - I checked eBay today when I got home, and prices there are coming down quite a bit, too. I think in 10 days, the scarcity will be over.

Yeah, the fact that they were honestly going for any model that they could get made me think that they were only buying them to flip 'em later on. I do hope you're right about the scarcity of the phone dropping!

Well, I opted out of this thread because I decided not to chase these phones any more. Then I got an email about the 6+ being in stock at my local Apple store as I was heading home from work and thought "what the heck". I rolled in and stood in line for a few minutes and they did have the, Apple stores in Atlanta must have reloaded today because there were 10-15 people leaving with 6 pluses. I got the phone I wanted (128 gig Silver AT&T) and I am restoring it now. My 64 gig SG AT&T 6 is going to my daughter.

Went by apple store tonight because it showed in stock there. I showed the employee on my phone and in store for pickup. He insisted that it was wrong and went outback and checked.

He said you have to reserve online. I said for next? He said the only way for AT&T is 2 year contract and no more switching to next in store. So for us next people were screwed totally.

:eek::cool::p

Cleanup, testing, probably a few limits for BB (data is huge).
You'll probably have to have 1/2 filter enabled for the BB info to be loaded.

Their team has been very professionnal and helpful! Should be mentionned.

What data will this give me for Best Buy? Is it walk in stock or is it web orders?

That makes no sense at all. So if you walk into the store now and want to do Next for a phone they will say sorry. Can't do it. Or do you just mean if you place an order for in store pick up with a 2 year contract and then try to switch it they will say no?

When did you get to the store? They come out before 10 am to tell you what they have?

I got there shortly after 5 am. The employees didn't come out until 9:30 when the store opened at 10. They basically announced only a couple of 6+. Lucky for me I got the only space gray phone they had which happened to be AT&T 128gb. Only thing else they had was just 128gb in silver and gold and silver ran out quickly. No 64gb in any color.

The struggle is real folks. All of last week, my local Apple Store and one about 40 mins away didn't receive ANY Verizon Phones (6 or 6+). I was fed up and decided to order online on the 26th. Well fast forward to today and I saw the local store receive one, I cancel my online order and called the store at the same time because I know the cancellation usually takes awhile but the customer reps usually can get through. We get all the way to checkout and BAM, phone is gone. She apologizes and I move on with my day.

Later this evening, come home from a 1.5 hr work trip and the store close to where I'm working this week at has one in stock but I goofed and forgot to Checkout. When I realized my mistake it was Gone! I sure hope more show up this week either in my hometown or where my client is up North.

6+ = Gone in 60 secs. "150, 160 its GONE!!"

Argh I see one available near me but its a ATT model and I use T-mobile!!! I can't do personal pick up...

Thanks, did you get some yellow markers ?

Best Buy are only displayed in if stock. Look at the whole map, maybe the is nothing available in the area you're looking at.
