I am a longtime MacRumors reader who avoids participating in any forum discussions. However, I thought Id share my experience in acquiring my new VZW 128g 6+ today as this thread has been very informative in my quest.
I used all the resources available: Apple site at all hours; visiting Apple Stores and other retailors; heavily used iStocknow and the SeaTurtle.org iPhone finder in grid mode (my favorite; can see every store and what they have by model, carrier, color in one view starkly apparent how few stores have 6+ w/ this view ). Both sites very helpful but they only look at the Apple Store inventory
However, idevicechecker searches other retailers inventories. Idevicechecker does not pull data frequently and, therefore, is not accurate for the Apple stores. However, the site somehow pulled 6+ data from BB (BB does not yet allow searches to see which store had the VZW 6+s just coming soon).
Put in my filters and noticed there were only a handful of stores (all BBs) that had any VZW 6+s, one up the road in Frederick, MD. As I was suspicious, I called the BB and was told two 128g units in stock (silver; slate). I hurried 30 minutes or so up the road and acquired the slate one. Interestingly, the site only noted, and still notes, silver 128g as available. BB rep told me 12 arrived on Tuesday; 2 left this am. I got the only black one shipped.
Bear in mind that the CSR who answered the phone actually took the time to ask the mobile phone folks vs the standard & immediate sold out response Ive also encountered (others have taken the time to look up what they had).
I hope this gives you some hope and encourages you to scour other retailers. It looks like a few BB (not many) may have some inventory across the nation.
As to the 6+, awesome. No regrets (other than I spent entirely too much time on acquiring it). Not worried about bending.
PS The SeaTurtle search grid now shows more stores carrying VZW than this morning and almost no stores in the nation with ATT. There were so few this morning that I wondered whether Apple held back what little stock they had while they looked at the Bendgate issue. Seems to be trinkling back in now.
