Hmmm, I tested the same presets for Tomb Raider and got an average 37 fps.

I think something is wrong with your Mac.
Strange, perhaps I should repeat the test with a fresh install of OS X El Cap. But my point is: gaming will be a better experience in boot camp compared to El Cap. Hopefully this will change when developers decide to update their games with Metal and offer equal or better gaming performance on OS X compared to Windows.

I couldn't help myself and went a bit over. Countless hours were wasted on these games as a kid.

I switched to Windows gaming around 2005. What was the point of gaming on a Mac? It cost a lot more, new Mac games were old Windows titles and most of the good ones were never ported. I suppose the same could be said for Windows vs consoles. Except the Windows versions may have modding and many of the games I prefer are PC only since they are only playable with a keyboard and mouse.

Apple IIe - don't get started on Ultimas!

And if only Apple had bought Bungie before Microsoft!

(For those not older than dirt, Bungie, the inventors of Halo, started out as a Mac-only company with Marathon being Halo 1.0. But Apple did not focus on games and Microsoft needed something to launch the first XBox with).

Not to mention Halo was demoed at two Macworlds before being bought by Microsoft :/
