Yes, I accounted for leap years.

Fascinating stuff. However I might not be around in 2037! After all I'm not getting any younger!

6-Month Projections...

Fascinating.

And I am struck by how accurate - generally speaking - your projections are.

If.

If is a small word, but one that enfolds a concept with vast and hidden depths.

Well it is 20 years away! Who knows what tomorrow brings!

I might switch to Windows and Android!

But then I'd have to change my name! :)

Or you could have a sex change operation and have to change your name to Apple fangirl. Or you could grow up and have to change your name to Apple fanman. Or Apple could change its name to Banana and you'd have to change your name to Bananafanman. We may not recognize you at all in 2037!

Quick question, where can one view a post rate? Profile page?

Can't stand bananas! The fruit of the devil!

I have to say that I love the weird statistical stuff that this thread always generates; I look forward to the 'regular' statistical measurements, and read the 'new' ones with absorbed attention.

In my charts, of course!

Better answer: you have to compute it by one of two methods:
  1. Divide your total post count by the number of days you've been a member, to get your overall post rate. Your post count and the date you joined are shown on your profile page.

  2. Measure your post count on two different days, covering a particular time span. Divide the difference in post count by the number of days between your measurements, to get your post rate over that period. That's what I do for 6 months at a time.

Well, your charts dropped me off a while ago due to me being inactive. However, I did the second part.

I have have been in MR for 3720 days, which at my current post count of 15,688 means I have a 4.2172043 post rate per day versus an old post rate of 7.7 posts per day.

Not a bad drop... I’ll have to post a bit more to recover my old post rate of 7.7.

But my understanding is that @mad jew hasn't posted in an age, - I've been around almost a decade and I don't think I have ever seen him post when I've participated in a thread, although there are old (occasionally resurrected) threads where I see where he has posted in the past - and seems unlikely to do so again.

My "can he be stopped?" title was a joke, because he's been gone for many years. It's just that his gigantic post count has kept him on the list seemingly forever. In fact he'll eventually fall victim to others who are still posting.

For those who don't know, he was a prolific poster from Australia who spent tons of his time giving assistance and advice to other forum users from 2004 to 2008, as well as serving as a moderator in 2007 and 2008. He managed to make 32,194 posts in 4 years, at one point was averaging over 37 posts/day, and was #1 on the Top 50 list from 2007 to the end of 2012.

Yes, I assumed that it was a joke.

Actually, the first time I noticed these lists - the "Top 50 Posters Extrapolated" threads - I noticed his name, and wondered who he was. And yes, he had been so prolific that he remained on top of this list for ages, even though he hasn't posted in years.

But, reading your references to him, it did strike me that this was an interesting illustration of the strangeness of time; for, I have been a member of the forum for the best part of a decade, - which is quite some time in an online environment - and I never remember seeing him make a post.

He last posted September 5th 2008. Way before my time.

Just think someday people will be asking who was Scepticalscibe or Apple fanboy!

Well, I joined in late July 2018, (having bought a MBP in May - a belated birthday gift to myself) but, while we overlapped little, I never noticed him as an active poster.

And yes: Indeed: Someday, people may well wonder who @Apple fanboy, and your illustrious scribe were.
