Yeah, I seem to be here more out of habit these days. So many of the Top 50 are no longer active here or post very infrequently. :(
You can only keep your spamhelp up for so long. I'll chime in from time to time when I can but that's dwindling.

Hardware discussion and the bleeding edge are where I find the most enjoyment. I spend most of my time off of MacRumors doing research and hunting down the latest roadmaps. It helps a lot when I come back with links and images to make you drool for what's coming down the pipe.

blah blah blah spreadsheets and numbers blah blah blah
(I see only the math-related portions of people's posts. :))

When I'm forced to use MS Word I'm constantly shaking my fist and banging my head on the wall. But I live happily in MS Excel. It's an outstanding piece of software and somehow manages to stay efficient despite all the number crunching. That was true even when I was using a Power Mac G4 in past years.

Since the iPad launch, Forum Spy has been dead for me.

I've stopped using Forum Spy lately too. I'm afraid my display will get screenburn from the constant friction!

Among active Top 50 posters, the members with the longest memberships are:

Third-longest: Mr. Anderson, 104 months (8.7 years)

Great stats again, Doctor Q.

Even though I retired jefhatfield (my old handle), my 10th birthday here falls in two days. It's been a crazy ride at Macrumors! I can't believe I was a top 25 poster from 2001 into 2007. I must have had no life.:D

I miss Spikey, Kela, Blakespot, John123, Alphatech, Backtothemac, Dukestreet, Eyelikeart, and many of the posters who used to post here very frequently.

EDIT: Truth is that in 2000 into part of 2002, there were really less than a hundred frequent posters on Macrumors. It didn't really get a large sum of users until later in 2002 and 2003.

Indeed, but some humor helps to lighten the mood, even on forums we need our comedic relief. ;)

Abstract has been one of the go-to guys of great comic relief over the years.

rdowns, Macnut, madjew,
and a few others have done well, too.

Sometimes I would laugh at Abstract, or with him, and even get pissed off at his seemingly off putting comments which were the "real" politically incorrect comments posted on the internet.

He should have got on Comedy Central. :)

Dr. Q thanks for all the stats! :)

On a side note, in reality, Dr. Q uses one of these to calculate his data:

:D

myself and hellhammer have a competition going on, so ive stepped up the game a bit to get my posts higher ;)
It's not a competition.

Ten years today on Macrumors (see post #60 above). What a wild ride. :D

Doctor Q kind of wanted me to give a bird's eye view as being a constant poster here for 10 years, so here it goes (from my shattered memory)
2000- joined on july 9th as jefhatfield and only lurked and saw Blakespot as main poster
2001- started posting about Macs, became top poster here, talking to Spikey, John123, and Kela
2002- started off topic political talk against GOP and enjoyed eyelikeart, RowerCPU, and Dukestreet
2003- saw posters grow up like vniow, scem0, and ravenvii and others go from hs to adulthood
2004- started seeing some big time posters come along like mad jew and wdlove
2005- got tired of my jefhatfield screen name but kept it on www.epinions.com
2006- started new identity as 63dot and have kept that ever since, jefhatfield retires still in top 10

Why did you retire your name?

I pissed off too many conservatives having started the political forums and became as nasty as them, he he, but ironically, these people became my friends off site. But I am still, yes I am, a LIBERAL. :)

Old members here still call me jef

Interesting trip down memory lane. I remember most of the folks that you mention.

I lurked for about a year before I joined in July 2002. Much smaller community back then. But even then, I had a tough time getting a user name. I remember all the ones that I wanted were already taken, and out of a lark, since I had just eaten a sushi dinner, I tried "sushi" and it worked.

Curious. Do you remember how many posts you had back in 2006 to put you in the top 10?

I would say something over eight thousand something when I retired and probably extrapolated to the end of time...which would not equate to anything close to a top poster today with all those above ten thousand I think.

Interesting. Thanks.

In a few days, it looks like the top 10 will all have 20,000 posts.

Me too. I lurked for over a year before joining.

Back in 2001, I was waiting for the iBook G3 to get a G4 processor so that it was capable of AltiVec!! Back then, it was such a big deal that I really struggled choosing between making a purchase and waiting. I couldn't afford a 15" Ti Powerbook, and there was no 12" or 17" PB at the time. Eventually, I ended up getting a Rev B 12" PowerBook because the wait for a 12" G4 iBook was too long, which was a wise move because it took another few upgrade cycles (i.e. 2 years ) before the iBook got a G4. By then, the discussions STILL revolved around Motorola and IBM. :p Lots of repeat threads, but they were still fun.

Ahhhh.....I remember when all hardware discussion was about PowerPC processors, Moto's demise, 15" Ti PowerBook paint chipping issues, etc.

I don't know why I didn't just join MR immediately. I was already a moderator at another board, so it's not like I was scared or something.

Your roadmaps are amazing! Always informative and something that I didn't know before :) Keep it going, I find them being better than the ones people post in PC forums :p
