added to my resume that I have over the course of 24 years survived multiple assassination attempts via poisoning, of course she calls it "dinner" just to get away with it :p

My wife is Mexican. I have to watch out for knives. :)

There's an old joke that we like to repeat whenever food tastes odd:

Reporter: I understand that your first husband died from food poisoning.

Wife: Yes. He ate poison mushrooms.

Reporter: And your second husband also died from food poisoning?

Wife: Yes. He ate poison mushrooms.

Reporter: And your third husband died from a fractured skull?

Wife: Yes. He wouldn't eat his mushrooms.

I'm sure that if they were subtly flavoured with minced garlic, very finely diced onions, and butter, it might have been possible to persuade him to tuck in.

So if this is the final list during the end of days can we recap how accurate your numbers were.

Hopefully, I'll still be alive.

But would you want to be alive at such an advanced and venerable age?

I post a lot on here. But I've never been on Twitter or Facebook so do I post as many times as others per day? Probably not.

Plus I enjoy the conversations.

Agree on FB, I'm not on it, although I am on Twitter (where I am not especially active) and LinkedIn (solely for professional reasons).

I don't do social media, so, I'm not bothered by how much time I spend here.

Agreed.

This is my main 'social' online account.

People post prolifically for a variety of reasons, and life circumstances can cane - sometimes quite dramatically - in a short space of time.

Yes, yes, yes, but it is sad that so many people spend so much time on "social media", which in turn, makes them anything but social. There is no question, just observing people intermixing in public places (meaning, gasp, in person) that normal social skills are gone. People have great difficulty talking face to face, or even interacting with staff at restaurants and so forth. Balance is everything, don't forget the real world, get out there meet and be nice to someone, no matter what your circumstances.

Someone who is eating their lunch while perusing the contents of their smart phone annoy me.

To be honest, I think it may be a generational thing; when I am out, my phone is either switched off entirely or left at home and those of my age who see me for coffee or drinks or lunch or dinner do likewise.

But, then, I was born middle aged, and only now is my chronological age in conformity with the age I have always felt I am.

If they are alone, no big deal. With a loved one, or family? No way. In my gang, if you access your device at the table, you pay for everyone's meal.

Life is too short to waste on strangers pretending to be what they are not.

Something of which I am well aware as I type! ;)

Well I was in my late 30's before I joined my first forum so pretty sure I know how to act in social situations.
However because of circumstances I'm not able to get out socially all to often. I guess many are in the same boat which is why places like MR prove a great place to hang out with like minded people with common interests.
