The full statement from Trump
I have always been a big fan of Tim Cook, and likewise, Steve Jobs, but if Steve was not taken from the Planet Earth so young, and ran the company instead of Tim, the company would have done well, but nowhere near as well as it has under Tim. For me it began with a phone call from Tim at the beginning of my First Term. He had a fairly large problem that only I, as President, could fix. Most people would have paid millions of dollars to a consultant, who I probably would not have known, but who would say that he knew me well. The fees would be paid but the job would not have gotten done. When I got the call I said, wow, it’s Tim Apple (Cook!) calling, how big is that? I was very impressed with myself to have the head of Apple calling to “kiss my ass.” Anyway, he explained his problem, a tough one it was, I felt he was right and got it taken care of, quickly and effectively. That was the beginning of a long and very nice relationship. During my five years as President, Tim would call me, but never too much, and I would help him where I could. Years latter, after 3 or 4 BIG HELPS, I started to say to people, anyone who would listen, that this guy is an amazing manager and leader. He makes these calls to me, I help him out (but not always, because he will, on occasion, be too aggressive in his ask!), and he gets the job done, QUICKLY, without a dime being given to those very expensive (millions of dollars!) consultants around town who sometimes get it done, and sometimes don’t. Anyway, Tim Cook had an AMAZING career, almost incomparable, and will go on and continue to do great work for Apple, and whatever else he chooses to work on. Quite simply, Tim Cook is an incredible guy!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP

It’s amazing to me that there are people in America who don’t think Trump is an embarrassing tit.

I mean politics aside, no matter if you agree or disagree are right or left, you have to admit there’s something wrong with him, surely?? This is not how normal people behave.

Just curious, but how are ‘normal’ people suppose to behave.

Trump’s behavior seems very similar to a lot of other people’s behavior I have witnessed both online and out in the wild.
Like this one time I was at Walmart, checking out and this porky kid was slobbering all over the candy bars next to the checkout. He kept trying to at least scan them, but his m melted telling him no and putting them back, while the father(?) stood around like a lump of wasted carbon.

If I had acted that way as a kid, my ass would have been beat.

What about all those ‘Karen’s’ durning Covid? This bad behavior trend seems rather ‘normal’ to me, cause if it wasn’t then it would have been beat out of society a long time ago. Yet, society just seems to accept it.

Trump's comments about Cook "kissing his ass" and "asking for BIG HELPS" (his tweet is long and rambling - go read it) are predictably gross and embarrassing for both. If Cook had any backbone and dignity he would finally tell him to go f himself, and what a way to go this would be.

One can only dream.
Considering that Tim is becoming executive chairman, and he will still be dealing with international leaders, including Trump, that would be incredibly incredibly stupid.

Tim Cook did not die, right? Right?

Fear not. Trump won't be president for ever. And when he isn't, all these things will come back to bite him.

Tim has left quite a legacy. Some might not like him, but many admire what he has achieved and while he's no Jobs, he really has left a huge mark and transformed the fortunes of Apple through his abilities. Not in the way that Jobs did because he has different abilities, but he has transformed Apple, and mostly for the better, just as much as Jobs did.

As for Trump's legacy? That will be as ignominious as Cook's and Jobs' is praiseworthy. He will, I am sure, go down in history as one of the worst leaders this world has ever seen, easily the worst the USA has seen. Now that's a legacy no one will EVER forget.

Apple on Monday announced that Tim Cook will be stepping down as CEO, and some top leaders around the world have publicly commented on the news.

Effective September 1, Apple's hardware engineering chief John Ternus will become the company's next CEO, while Cook will become executive chairman of Apple's board of directors. In his new role, Apple said Cook will assist with "certain aspects" of the company, including "engaging with policymakers around the world."

Farewell Barney Varmn.

What a tasteless comment from the egomaniac president....but shouldn't be a suprise at this stage.
Wow. Talk about taking things out of context!

That statement was reflective only on the first time he spoke with TC. He gets calls all the time, like all presidents do, from people “kissing his arse”, but Trump said Tim’s call was different. He was incredibly impressed with his approach and leadership and managerial skills and says TC was one of the best CEOs he ever met. He also said TC was the best person to lead Apple after Job’s died.

But if you take the quote out of context, that’s your choice.

Hey remember when MAGA used to come to defense of everything Trump (or toadies like Palmer) said on this forum? They've all gone back underground. Trump's supporters cannot even bring themselves to fight back. "Impeached by January" is now a 70% likelihood on Polymarket (which also predicted 2024 election correctly).

Tim was a historic CEO. He was the first CEO of a trillion dollar company (2018), $2 trillion (2020), and then $3 trillion (2022), and now it’s hovering around $4 trillion. He was the first CEO to double a company’s revenue to $400 billion dollars. He was the first openly gay CEO. He’s pushed the company to carbon neutrality and has promised to donate his entire fortune to charity. He helped launch the wearables and services divisions and Apple silicon. He made privacy one of Apple’s cornerstone. He did all of this while making almost every Apple fan hate him. But judging by Apple’s revenue, a lot of people don’t.

He did many things I disagreed with, but what he did right far outweighs the bad for me, personally. Ternus has big shoes to fill, but I have confidence in him. Srouji, too! Farewell, Tim. Great job.

Godspeed, Apple.

I'm not sure what the confusion is about. Those are, simply, ALSO excellent examples of how "normal" people should not be acting.

And none of them, officially, represent the nation, either.

If you've become disenchanted and accept it as normal, that's something to think about. Common, all too common even, sure.

Not normal.
