Stage Manager is yet another half-assed, semi-confused attempt at doing multitasking for devices that have been more than powerful enough to run a full fledged desktop OS and pro apps for the last 5-10 years.
Yes, a MacOS 1/1 port on an iPad would not be optimal.
But all Apple is doing here is beating around the bush and trying to propagate this false notion that iPads need even more CPU and RAM to ever be able to do what most basic MacBooks have been doing with ease for the last 20+ years.
No need to upgrade to the M1 or any future M2-M3-M4-M5-M6 iPads Pro if you already own a Face ID + USB-C iPad Pro or one of the newer USB-C iPads Air.
Apple will only ever increase CPU, RAM and port speeds so you can mirror ProCreate, Lumafusion, or the iPadOS Weather app to fifty-nine 8K displays all at once, and switch over to Facebook in 0,0001 nano seconds.
But Apple won’t ever give iPads anything that could overlap with MacBooks or Macs. So there’s really no reason to ever get a new iPad unless your device is no longer getting security updates.
Like, what do I need multitasking alla Stage Manager for when next to none of my Mac apps run on iPadOS, and when I can’t freely manipulate files like any other laptop or desktop lets me.
iPads are still just big, extra powerful iPhones with a different form factor and USB-C instead of ****** Lightning. Stage Manager doesn’t change that.
