Anyone else torn between two watches? I'm torn between the 42mm space gray sport for $399 and the 42mm SS with blue leather loop bracelet for $700.

I love the look of the "all black" space gray, especially since the space black SS is $1,100. I'm a bit unsure of aluminum body, but also can't fully justify the extra $300 when they essentially perform the same.

Anyone else in between two different watches?

I was, but ended up with the base SS. Mainly because of the Sapphire display. I didn't think it was worth the anxiety of possibly scratching the Sport screen. So Sapphire was a key selling point for me.

I also love the minimal look of the black Sport Band, eventually I will probably pick u the black or brown leather loop.

I'm thinking of getting the SS with Leather Loop and a White Sport band. I'm hoping the Sapphire screen means that it will be more durable. Personally i prefer the look of the SS over the sport also there are more band options for the SS.

I am not torn. I said last week that I'd only get the SS version if it was $100 more. No way I'm spending $600+ on a watch that might end up in a drawer in a couple months.

I think the watch looks cool, but there is a chance I won't like it. Granted, I'd sell it before just throwing in a shelf.

Last night I was fiddling with that site that lets you look at the different combos, and I was surprised how many of the straps go well with the space gray sport model, plus that one comes with the black strap in the package, so I may be leaning towards that one. The sapphire would be nice, so I'm still torn, but we still have another month to decide. Also I didn't realize, apparently there are two versions of the black strap, one with a space gray pin and one with a steel pin.

It'll just be the leather loops as those have no metal connectors, although they're available only in 42mm. The standard stainless steel hinges on the other straps in the SS collection will most surely clash with Space Gray.

What's with the ceramic back on the SS...is that supposed to feel better, or is there another purpose for it?

Well that was what surprised me, was that some of the other bands DID look fine, like the Milanese. Because the silver of the strap contrasted with the gray on the watch, but in a good way, it didn't look out of place. I wasn't expecting that either. And also the top and bottom part of the connectors are brushed, not shiny, so that also helped. So I think there's going to be more mixing and matching of the straps than people think.

I want to get the SS so when I go to the store I can say "I'm here to buy the Apple Watch" and the specialist asks what kind, I say "Apple Watch."

Maybe. Personally, I think it'll look off in real life compared to the renders but we'll see.

I'm in the same position. I think I'll pick the sport edition, $300 is too much if we are talking about the same product.

I'm getting the sport just to get in the game

Once I see what new features are added in the future and what the refresh rate is like I'll grab an SS

Hoping to get good mileage out of the first watch, and dear god, please let the straps be compatible for many versions to come

What's your concern about the aluminum body? Are you aware they're using a stronger form of aluminum in the Watch Sport?

just appearance. I like the sport with the sport band, but I would want to dress it up a bit more. I just like the SS look a bit more, but the price difference make me consider the sport.

EXACTLY!! For the bands I want, the space gray works well. I paired it with the blue leather loop bracelet and I'm liking it (not as much as the SS, but it it's still looks good) Additionally, I like the space grey with colored bands.

It offers many advantages. It's more comfortable and hypoallergenic so those who cannot wear a metal watch will be able to wear the Apple Watch. It's one of the reasons the watch is advertised as 80% stronger.

That shiny SS will show way to many fingerprints and dirt. I'm a little ocd so that's why I'm getting the sport.

I'm the same way, I like the quality materials of the SS models but I too am concerned about fingerprints on the polished finish.

Exactly what I'm thinking.

I'm torn from the sport Space Gray and the SS with black sport band. I'm thinking if it's worth it to upgrade to the SS version for the glass, plus applecare... it gets expensive.

I'm also floating around the idea of the sport with white band. I think in the summer it would look good, but every time I see someone with a white watch (gshock) I think what a "d*&#^. :p Im also thinking about the sports with blue band and black sports band

Really wanted the space grey SS watch, had no idea there would be an up charge for it though (since there isn't one for the Sport).

I was all about the Sport space Gray (mainly for the price)...

Then I did some more research into horology culture and detail and realized the Stainless Steel is really the intended experience Apple had in mind for it's users; the $349/399 mini iphone on the wrist model in the mix was clearly a budget grab. Real watches worth wearing have sapphire glass crystals and stainless steel bodies.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple drops the Aluminum Sport in the next few iterations once they find a way to sell the Steel body and Sapphire crystal for the same price.

The Apple Watch Stainless Steel experience is what will convince the masses that Apple has not only a legitimate Smartwatch but a legitimate wrist watch as indispensable as your wallet or money clip. At least indispensable as your favorite watch.
