I was going for the SS and Milanese but I've pretty much changed my mind about it. I'm now thinking of a silver sport and just order a black band for it. It's down to blue or green, neither of which are particularly wearable on there own.

Glad I'm not the only one struggling with this decision!

I've flip flopped about 4 times since they keynote but think I'll get the 42mm stainless steel with the black classic leather buckle and a spare black plastic band for the gym etc.

The only thing drawing me to Watch Sport is the look of the space grey with black band and the fact for that price, I can pick up a leather band too and still be cheaper than then ss. Lack of Saphire glass and possibility of dinging or scratching the aluminium case and display is pushing me back to ss.

Wish Apple hadn't left such a long period between this keynote and preorders. Def #FirstworldProblems though :)

I was, but ended up with the base SS. Mainly because of the Sapphire display. I didn't think it was worth the anxiety of possibly scratching the Sport screen. So Sapphire was a key selling point for me.

I also love the minimal look of the black Sport Band, eventually I will probably pick u the black or brown leather loop.

This. Sapphire screen is the deciding factor for me.

Here's the black sport with the blue leather strap.

I've been struggling with this as well.

I'll go with the SS if I can get the Space Black with just the black sport band. A couple hundred extra bucks for the sapphire is ok with me. However, if I'm forced to also get the link bracelet with it (as the online apple store is currently implying) and jump the price to more than a grand ... I can't see myself spending all that extra for a bracelet I'll never use.

Same boat. The price of a space gray sport + leather loop bracelet is still $150 cheaper than the SS w/Leather loop and I would have two bands. So there's so much to think about.

----------

Here's the black sport with the blue leather strap.

I think this is a very attractive combo. I like the SS a tiny bit better with the bracelet, but it still looks good!!

I've thought long and hard about this, but I'm going for the SS model. I don't need a pretty band, just the SS model with the white band is fine.

I keep flip flopping as well. I can just see the space grey aluminum getting scratched like crazy though, so I am kind of thinking the ss space black.

So are all the bands interchangeable to every apple watch body or are some limited to the body style you get?

No some straps are limited to either the 38mm or 42mm models. Others will work with both. All should work with any of the three different versions provided it's the correct size.

I'm liking the space black sport with a black leather loop. I'm just not sure the 42mm size is right for me.

Same combo as you. I want all black watch. SS color isn't for me. The only SS color I like is the black version. But no way I'm spending $1,100 on that. As someone who doesn't wear a watch, I can't see spending $1,100 on a watch. I'd rather buy a new MBP instead. Besides it seems like all three grades of watches carry the exact same software functionality. It's just merely cosmetic purposes here.

Honestly im torn. A moto 360 v2.0 with iso support would be my ideal watch because of the look. The Apple watch has my interest but i feel like an addict saying no i wont get one when deep down inside i know i will. Im pretty confident the Apple Watch 2.0 will have a face time camera so im torn

I'm also torn between the two models.

I like hte better quality materials of the SS version, whoever I really do hate the shiny mirror appearance. I've had a few SS watches in my life and none was mirror-shiny, they were brushed or whatever (i.e. they did not reflect lke a mirror).

I remember in the early days of the iPod, the back was total shiny metal. It drove me so crazy I brushed the back to make it matt, it look so much better that way. But Ive seems obsessed with shiny metals. In that sense the Sport watch looks better but has worse quality materials :(

Well that was what surprised me, was that some of the other bands DID look fine, like the Milanese. Because the silver of the strap contrasted with the gray on the watch, but in a good way, it didn't look out of place. I wasn't expecting that either. And also the top and bottom part of the connectors are brushed, not shiny, so that also helped. So I think there's going to be more mixing and matching of the straps than people think.

On Apples website they sure look polished and shiny to me. Seems to match the SS body perfectly...

My wife and I will be going with the sports models for now. Next year when the new ones come out my wife will be done with pharmacy school and working so we'll most likely give our two older models to our 2 kids and buy the apple watch dos and get the SS.

My mind is set on the SS model for the Sapphire glass but I'm still undecided on band.
Keep in mind that you'll probably want the Apple Watch 2 in 12-15 months.

Historically, I have always purchased watches with sapphire glass because, if I didn't, the watch face would get lots of scratches over 3-5 years. In the past, I've only purchased watches that I expected to use for 5+ years. If one is buying an Apple Watch to replace in 12-15 months, a sapphire face is probably less critical.

Everyone seems worried about scratching the display. Is anyone else worried about scratching the stainless steel case? Every SS object I own is scratched to hell, the chrome-like polish may make matters more difficult.

I think it will depend what you do when you wear it. If you put it through hell than it will look like hell. That will happen with any watch that you wear. I am sure the sport watch, since it is a softer "metal" will likely dent easier if you hit it against anything hard. If you are a mechanic and wear any watch, it will probably look like crap. If you are a nurse/doctor, it will likely stay looking nice.

Well... Im bit torn between these two too.

I'm almost definetely going for the black sport band because I really like the minimal look of it.

I like how to space gray aluminium won't be as prone to fingerprints and grease as SS but at the same time I think SS will look more classy and premium. It's jewelry with extra functionality after all.

I am torn as well, but only because of the sapphire glass and SS.
If sapphire glass was an option in Sport model, i would not think twice and grab the Space Gray Sport model.

Luckily i have some time to decide. I am still leaning towards the Sport Watch. I'm a watch guy and feel naked without a watch. I have some watches and 99% are stainless steel and mechanical. So something light and different has some appeal to me over the SS Apple Watch.

This would be my first smart watch, i'm not even sure how often i will wear it or if i will even like the idea of having another hungry attention craving gizmo on me 24/7. It is also difficult for me to justify buying something for $600 or more that might be quickly replaced next year with a much better model.
