It is for me.

I don't have advanced uses for it as others do, but for my only computer this may be my all in one go to machine.

A trip to the apple store will need to further test this. If it doesn't wow me then I will go with a rMB because my uses are minimal.

Damn you apple and your gimmicks and prices.

It like it. Whether it is a gimmick or not will depend on the individual. I think I would use it all the time with Safari, Siri, iTunes, Photoshop, TouchID, and Final Cut. Also, having system controls available all the time is a time saver. I also think it will lose its effectiveness when I have it docked, but I use mine a lot on the couch, so I will get a lot if use out of the feature.

Not so much, as a feature it's cool on pro apps, but the device is still a day late and dollar short... 32GB of Ram, and SD card reader, Magsafe, and NVIDIA graphics would have pulled me in...

Before the keynote, I don't see the point of the Touch bar.
After the keynote, I wish it's bigger and on all Macbooks. It will save screen real estate by putting menus and buttons on the bar.
I really really hope Apple put on the retina Macbook and/or make it even bigger. I can already imagine using lightroom, and having the carousel of thumbnails on the Touch bar instead of taking up space on the main screen.

Yeah, I would have preferred a larger Touch bar and a slightly smaller touch pad as the trade off. I wonder how easy it is to see it in real life? I can see the face of a lady bug with photography, that doesn't say how easy it is to see in regular conditions, though. They were showing an icon for photos in the bar, but I wonder if you can really tell what is in the photo without a magnifying glass.

I am still excited for the feature because I think there will be some touch memorization with programs you use all the time. I have used an app called Alfred that puts some of the system controls on an iOS screen and it is really nice to have access to system features and websites at the touch of a button. Having it in the function key row is even more convenient.

I can see the use for it but the ram should be a base of 16GB with an option for 32GB given the price.

"The Touch Bar shouldn’t display alerts, messages, scrolling content, static content, or anything else that commands the user’s attention or distracts from their work on the main screen." link

wtf :O so no stocks, reminders, messages... or any other useful use for the TB.
