move your finger back and fourth while touching the button. Does the actual button move any , do you notice it actually moving. ?
A little... It is more when you touch it when you get that "clicking" sound. I wonder if this would be a quick fix through warranty?move your finger back and fourth while touching the button. Does the actual button move any , do you notice it actually moving. ?

They will all be 'slightly' loose as it's a button, if you jiggle it or tap it, it should wobble a little. If you turn the laptop upside down and it falls out then it's too loose.
I believe there's some difference occurs through use/grime in there, which is why some feel a teensy bit more solid than other. But as I said it's supposed to be a little loose. If people want to return it over it then it's their prerogative, just know you'll be without a computer for a few days an will likely get the same situation back. Which if you don't understand it's supposed to be like that, will probably lead you to an endless return cycle.
Def do not want to go into a return loop for no reason. I felt two models today, one was firm and the other had a jiggle. I only asked Apple Care if it was normal and they said they would rather send me a new one, and didn't even answer my question. From what I can tell, some are tight and some a little loose and there is probably a little tolerance there that they accept...but get the feeling more are tight.
They may come from the factory tight, but will loosen. As I said it's a button, if it was absolutely tight it wouldn't work.
Apple generally have the policy of appeasement, so they'll be happy to send you a new one as explaining to people that they're wrong can often lead to an upset customer. So just be aware of that, they'll usually agree and try keep you happy, but it might not be the best thing for you.
Of course I haven't actually looked at your machine, it could genuinely be very loose. I'm just saying you should expect a little looseness.
So did you do anything about it? Or just live with it?Mine too
If the replacement is the same, I'm going to send it back...keep the original. This machine is awesome..With each time I cross an Apple store, I test this button and from time to time I fall on the same defect. I leave like that.
AgreeI had a 2017 15'' MBP before I got my current one (I had to exchange it for an unrelated issue). The first one I had had no play in the button at all-- I was already aware of this issue and made sure to check. The second, new one I received does have some definite play in the button.
At the end of the day, it is frustrating that some MBPs will have this issue and others won't. However, it's all relative and you have to wonder how important this issue really is. You certainly have the right to exchange yours out for a new one, but this issue won't impact you in day-to-day usage. You have to figure even the models which have 'firm' buttons will loosen up in 2 years time, anyways.
Hello everyone, I asked about this problem in another thread receiving some response.
I'm almost sure a small looseness is normal, anyway, i attached a video. Whats is you opinion? The laptop is a macbook pro 15 2017.
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
Best regards.
