For those having accuracy problems with your touch ID, you can refresh your print without having to start from scratch.

Go into the touch ID section in menu, and enter your password. Touch each finger you have previously registered to the sensor, and you will see the corresponding entry gray out temporarily. This is your fingerprint being refreshed and stored in memory.

Works 99% of the time for me. Only time I need to enter my password manually is after a shower when my fingers are all wrinkled up.

....actually - yep perhaps you're correct! I will delete all the prints and then just re-scan the one thumb print! Never thought of that!

I just (wrongly?) assumed that the more prints you give it, from the same finger, the more accurate it would be at recognizing that finger but perhaps, as Arran mentioned above, I have just confused the software with 5 prints from the same finger!!!

It doesn't work that way. it keeps on learning under the one registered print, so scanning the same one five times can do nothing but dilute the experience. Make sure you're getting the edges, bridge and tip of your finger too. I've seen too many folk complain and then ask to watch them set it up - it's usually been set up terribly (with the user ignoring the instructions thinking they know better). Not accusing you of that, just be sure to do it properly and under one slot. Hope it helps!

That's not true. It's simply a way of identifying which slot is which finger.

But seriously, do you think it's possible some people have finger prints that give TouchId problem?

I have heard of the case of a teacher who had trouble getting finger printed for his job because his prints has no ridges like a normal finger.
This was my thought exactly. Maybe even finger size?

Kind of like the earpods, I have to use earhoox to keep them in. Not the same thing, but nothing is 100% and the same for everyone.

Quite possibly true. I read this tip on one of the tech websites I visit daily. It was posted in the past week, and I have no idea where it was located.

Oh well, no harm done I hope.

it works way better than my 5s

the only time i have problems if if my hands are not perfectly dry

TouchID worked great when I got my 6+ a week after launch, but I have noticed that it doesn't work pretty frequently, for no apparent reason... It's just not as reliable as it used to be for me

I'm gonna update this thread of mine by saying that Touch ID on my iPhone 6 is STILL - TRULY RIDICULOUS :mad:

After having tried everything in this thread - it STILL fails to recognize my thumb print in 2 out of every 5 to 6 attempts - and that is truly SHOCKING.......:(

Sometimes (like this morning), I will delete the ONLY saved finger print I have (because it is failing twice in every 5/6 attempts) and create a new one, and then, IN THE SAME DAY - it will go back to not being able to recognize my print again. .....SO FRUSTRATING

I may as well just delete the finger print altogether and just use my passcode -the finger print ID, just, does - not - work (for me anyway).
