If you have an older VW it's really easy to upgrade to a Carplay unit. I installed one in my 2010 Scirocco, works like a charm.

CarPlay is such a nice interface. A little older Toyota, like my 2018 Prius should be able to get an upgrade to be able to use Airplay. Bummer
CarPlay is very disappointing. Limited apps with limited functionality. It is also very buggy and doesn’t integrate well with other radio functions like SiriusXm. A dash mounted iPhone connected via Bluetooth is a superior solution at this point.

It’s not that bad, try a LandRover and you’ll love Toyota’s system lol!About time! Toyota’s Entune is a joke. Its like using iOS 4.
I am also interested to see if a sub-industry springs up to provide technology upgrades to older vehicles.
Yes. But realize that Toyota head units are the only way to access certain vehicle settings. Including things like how long Light’s stay on when you leave, beep volume when using fob etc.Already happening.
I bought a 2017 Highlander and immediately swapped the head unit for a 10" $300 android based head unit.
Downloaded Waze & set my iphone as a hotspot. Done.
Don't need or even want Apple Car Play with all of it's associated restrictions and limitations.

It’s one of their most expensive models, so in theory they get everything first.Toyota and Lexus love their nanny electronics, so don't be surprised if you're locked out until the car is put in park.
And it's an interesting choice to first implement this in the Avalon and not their more hip models..
I agree!!!! I have a RAV 4 and hate it with a passion. Wish they would have offered last year when I bought my Toyota. Oh well what are you gonna do?Entune is the clunkiest POS. About time Toyota

Does it make Mazda the last brand not to offer Car Play?
Shame on you Mazda.
