Not that I had many remaining doubts, but found this amusing from the SF Chronicle...

“I’m even the landlord of the building, and they won’t tell me,” said Rob Reiter, project director for the Civic Center. “I’ve never seen anything like it before, but I’m just a guy in the basement,” he said of his office in the bowels of City Hall.

“It’s some special event! It’s bigger than a goddamned concert, I can tell you that,” said a guard who declined to give her name.

Christine Falvey, spokeswoman for Mayor Ed Lee, said, “A nondisclosure agreement has been signed for the venue for those dates, and I don’t have additional details I can provide.”

Non-disclosure agreements for a trade show, eh? ;)

After seeing this it makes me think it isn't Apple, why go to all this trouble if they are just going to announce new iPhone's and a new Apple TV? after all it's only the S model which we know will look like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, also most of the information has already leaked about the new iPhone's. If i'm wrong and this is Apple then they are going to more trouble than they did at last years event when they unveiled the Apple Watch.

This really smells of Apple a billion percent. Also sounds like they really are ramping up security... And IF that's really the case, there is no telling what they will show us at the event. This might be the return of real surprises at an Apple event...

Maybe Tim Cook really is doubling down on security o_O wonder if Tim Cook will use the "One more thing" like he did last year with the :apple: Watch.

If it isn't Apple, then who else could it be?

I don't know, I just think it's a lot of trouble for Apple to go to in order to announce the iPhone 6s and Apple TV, they have a much smaller building that they use for S model updates. But at the same time I also don't think Apple will announce the iPad Pro or other iPad or Mac updates at this event. That will probably come in October.

I think it is Apple. To me, the clincher was the research an earlier poster did saying that traffic in front of the building would be shut down on September 9th.

Now here's another possibility, though. Could it be that Apple has rented the space as a diversion, when they're doing the actual event somewhere else...?

Maybe they just want the building because it's where they announced the Apple 2, and maybe they want to invite more people. Or maybe they have a lot to show off. But from previous events the new iPhones will take about 40 minutes, Apple TV maybe 30-35 minutes? Some updates on software and Apple Pay maybe, so it will probably be about 2 hours. This is why I don't see Apple announcing iPads or anything else at this event.

Dumb question but do we have any evidence that they are hosting at another venue. Perhaps proving where they are not showing may confirm that this is, in fact, the true venue. I do find much of the other evidence compelling.

Whatever happens, I like this rumour. I just did an install that is awaiting 4 Apple TV's with DVR or cloud capacity and live TV mandatory. So rather than posting the hardware I have, I am posting the hardware I will buy very soon, inclusive of three iPhone 6S.

I spend carefully, hence why I plan to buy now.

On their linked website they spell immigration wrong on their primary services list (left). That is odd for a lawyer who mostly is an English Teacher competitor.

Whoever is in charge of misdirection at AAPL really could do a better job. :D They should totally buy me a drink for noticing. Have it on my boat.

Getting approvals for the window change and then substituting an Apple logo for a star seems easy enough. I'd guess locations and weight would be the specifics necessary.

How many companies with that name use that logo?
A conference with that many people (sits 6,000) seems like it'd be advertising by now...

Or you could simply have the wrong "Adam's and Associates" as I have been able to find five businesses (so far) with that name in the US and Canada. Still, a pretty sloppy mistake on the website; you should notify them.

It could all be a massive coincidence and have nothing to do with Apple, that would make more sense.

It certainly could be something else. But coming up with an alternative massive, secretive, logo-sporting event in SF that makes any sense on that date would seem pretty hard to come by.

The scale of the Biden announcement makes sense, but there's no way he'd announce in SF, or that he'd submit plans months in advance and have windows removed for 16 foot tall signage :p And there just simply aren't that many other valid reasons to keep an event that big that secret.

However, Apple does that all. the. time. Pretty much every year someone unearths some building that is suddenly booked by a mysterious 3rd party and is surrounded by security and scaffolding and blocked walkways. If there was a secure way to take bets online that this is Apple, I so would. But mostly I'm just curious about this means for the scale of the announcement that will take place therein.

I agree, im also curious, it's a bit of a big place just to announce the iPhone 6s and Apple TV, after all we already know that the S models usually look the same as the numbered models. Last year Apple used a different building to announce the iPhone 6, 6 Plus and the Apple Watch, this building is bigger, so the question is what would they have to announce that would require this building, could it be that they are planning to announce multiple products at once (as was once rumoured) new iPhones, Apple TV and new iPads? However I'm not so sure about this, 2 hours wouldn't be enough to showcase all of that. Maybe it's just as simple as Apple wants to use a different building. But then again this is Apple we are talking about.....so.......

Perhaps Apple finally got the media industry to go along with their streaming media idea.

THAT would bring all kinds of media executives there and warrent the size.

Thats a valid point. Part of the reason the Watch announcement was scaled up was because Apple wanted to court not only the tech media, but the fashion industry as well. While this seems a bit bigger than even the Watch announcement, courting the TV/film/entertainment industry could certainly account for some of that.

EDIT: And this just in, a "trusted source" confirms that it is for Apple.

"Our source, who wished to remain anonymous due to the extreme privacy surrounding the event, has shown us documentation from event logistics indicating that Apple is renting the building through September 12th. This timing is consistent with what we were told by a security guard on Monday."

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, but Dreamforce (Salesforce user conference with about 150,000 people) will be taking over pretty much all venues in SF the week of Sept 14-19 (they probably need at least a week prior for setup as well) so makes sense that Apple had to find a different venue. Dreamforce is typically held in October or November so this year is much earlier.

Moscone Center and a couple other small theaters. Mostly in Hotels.

But their convention is a week after Apple's event.

It's Apple. I'd bet my Mac Pro on it.

I have to agree... My Spidey Senses are going nuts here that Apple has something bigger up their sleeve than any of us know about. My gut tells me that AppleTV may be a much bigger release than we expected. Media Streaming, Game playing, App Downloading, HomeKit Command Center, Phone and Video Conferencing device and more. It might also have a built in wifi router... It is possible that content deals are more complete than we imagined too. If this along with the standard iPhone release were true, then that explains whey the venue is so big. As the AppleTV could be the center of all things Apple in the home and there is so much to show around that and for people to demo. Truly Massive release!!

I feel homekit will be the biggest push and they need the space to do that.
