Just sell it on whatever marketplace is the most popular in your country. 2nd value is very high for Apple products.

Apple pays peanuts.
If this is peanuts according to you then I guess I can expect to get 10x more in a "marketplace". 🤣 I'll be getting more money then what I paid for.

The old IPhones overseas have stayed the same or gone up a bit, in some cases. You'd be a fool to trade in with Apple at these prices.

Given that Apple has hiked prices substantially in overseas markets, that means Americans can get more for their IPhones if they sell to overseas buyers.

Trading from iPhone 13 Pro 256 GB to iPhone 14 Pro 256 GB using Apple's trade-in program is about a A$1000 hit for me (A$900 trade-in value). My phone has lost ~50% of its value in 12 months. The tax office allows for 40% p.a. depreciation on computers. Another trade-in company will give me A$1080

Not doing trade in’s anymore.
Gift it to some one who normally could not afford and Apple product. 🙂
Especially a Mac.

iPhone Pro 13 - 512GB (with AppleCare +) Apple case since day one, in perfect condition, zero scratches and battery at 91% tried the trade in yesterday with my serial number and the offered me 85£ which is insane! the once offered me 20£ for my original Apple Watch. so these MAX values are complete BS! it has always been best to sell Apple products privately. but does make me giggle each time see these "trade in" prices.

Was wondering if I should use the trade-in program for my XS Max or try to sell it myself. EBay prices look to be in the $240-$370 range vs Apple’s $210 offer.

Don’t think the extra money is worth the hassle of dealing with flaky people or trying to ship it in person.
If you’re looking to sell yourself, I recommend you don’t use eBay. Instead, use Swappa.

They will ask for serial number.

As Gator5000e said, when you use the Apple App on the phone you are trading in, you won't have to enter in the serial number since it will ask you if the phone you are trading in is the same phone you are using, and it will read all the info in automatically.

That is what happened when I did it.

I ordered two this morning - one was my trade and one was my wife's. It knew mine of course, but no requirement to enter anything other than the model for hers (which is under her own Apple ID).

Carrier deals are so good!

They can be if you find the plan (price) worth it and don't mind being locked in for up to 3 years to get full trade credit.

It used to be that carriers would discount the price of the phone with a 2 to 3 year contract but they eventually moved away from that and now apply a discount to the trade value (thereby inflating it) and spread it out over 2 to 3 years. The net result is essentially the same.

No they won’t; as long as you’re logged in to the website with your Apple ID. I don’t use the app bc you can’t get the military and veteran discount. You have to order everything from the full website. I preordered at 8 am eastern. Didn’t ask for anything except the fact if I’m trading or not and once I selected yes it showed “iPhone 13 pro 256” that’s it. So it was quite quick and easy this year

Can I take the trade in into the retail store or does it have to be mailed in?
I always trade in store. I think I mailed one iPhone and one MacBook over the years. Very nerve wracking. I just take my phone with me on launch day to pick up preorder. I mention I want to trade. They always give me the max which the site quoted. And it comes off the top of the price right there. Takes 5 mins. They barely look at it. They make sure it functions and isn’t cracked or swollen. It takes more time to sign the trade in agreement than it does to inspect. I wouldn’t even use the word “inspect” honestly

I have to go back to my receipt from last year bc I feel trade in values were higher. I feel I got closer to $700 for my 12 pro last year. I was offered $600 for my 256GB 13 pro this year. I am really feeling it this year bc I am also going back to to pro max and that adds cost and applecare, but I usually do buy that right at the jump. I could have saved an extra $175 by going through Verizon, but I’m not going to be trapped to a carrier or the same iPhone for 36 months. That’s nuts. I change carriers pretty often and I upgrade iPhones every year. And Verizon’s deal beats apples and that includes a 10% military and veteran discount from apple.

I got 256 gb 14 pro max with applecare+. With military discount it works out as follows:
$1079 iPhone
$179 AC+
$108.50 NY tax

Equals $1,366.
- $ 600 trade in leaves a grand total of $766.50. Definitely a little higher than previous years due to lower trade in value and switching back to pro max. (Last pro max was 11pm. 12 and 13 I went pro)

The Apple trade-on value for an iPhone 12 Pro this time last year was $640. All of the iPhone 13 models have lower Apple trade-in values this year than comparable 12s this time last year.

Last year was the first year I traded in with Apple (11 pro max for 13 pro max). I always sold ,y phones on eBay, never had a problem, but there was always the anxiety and the hassle. I figured it made more sense to trade into Apple yearly, then try and sell it every year or other year.

I had intended on trading directly in the Apple Store to avoid the worry of mailing, but realized if for so
me reason I don’t want to keep the 14 PM, I would be stuck ( who am i kidding though, I’m gonna keep it). Still opted for mail in this year.
