I am pretty sure that they removed "the word" from the VHS release. I know that the copy I had as a kid did not have it. The DVD does in fact keep "the word" in. Really sad when you look at what cause a stir back then and now.

Actually, I had a copy of the VHS version and it was still there. In fact, my best friend and I made a "compilation" of the movie several years ago, where at key points in the movie, we would splice that beautiful phrase in - turned out quite hilarious. ;)

what "Word" are you guys talking about?? the S*** word from the movie/show??

And what is this hating on the original BadBoy SoundWave? Did you not what season 2 of the original run of Transformers? He transformed and Ravage & Rampage did their twin thing, while that sicko panther tape was just plain mean, and the bird did the spying on the ever vengeful Starscream. (funny same voice as Cobra Commander in GIJOE).

Wasnt it always an honor for MegaTron's #2, StarScream, to fire him at an Autobot?

And it that last link is great, but the name is supposed to be Blitzkreig, not Blitzwing. ;)

Hey didnt Soundwave become Cyclonis?

Yep - when Unicron is chasing the spaceship.

Personally, I always thought Soundwave was cool.

Nope, it's Blitzwing - I have the original figure sitting in my basement. Probably worth something nowadays as well, along with all my other Transformers...

I never said I hated them, just that I can understand why they changed their transformed modes for the movie. They were great as toys, hey a toy robot and a toy gun? What more can a little boy want? However for what will most likely be an action movie tape decks and handguns are not good alternative modes for two of the more important bad guys.

I've changed my mind.

2 points:

1. New transformer modes are better than the mass-alteration / suspend your belief in the G1 cartoons. Soundwave transforming from a helicopter makes more sense than from a ghetto blaster. After all, it does look more kickass.

2. Peter Cullen and Frank Welker should not voice the new TF movie, because I want the voices to remain in my childhood. To transfer the voices over to TF Live would mean it bastardizing my childhood memories, which I will not stand for.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the key voice talent from the original cartoon were to make a small cameo appearance in the live action film – cameos from 'originals' seem to be very popular in recent remakes and 'reimaginings'.

So now, Megatron is a tank and Soundwave is a helicopter. My question is, is this Transformer:The Movie, or a movie about transforming robots? This does not look good for the TF franchise.

Actually, if they have to make changes, those seem reasonable. A 50-foot robot turning into a little tape recorder wouldn't quite work, IMHO.

The only thing I do hope, as someone said earlier, is that they transform into a NORMAL, REALISTIC tank and helicopter. Not horrible over-the-top plasticy stuff like the thunderbirds movie. I want it to be gritty.

Wow, way to resurrect a 9-month old thread! :p Yes, I hope this movie ends up being really good as well, but in the end I do have my doubts...

Have you all checked the official Transformers website?

Oh man, 7 days, 12 hours, 41 minutes, etc etc, until a trailer or something comes out.
That or some messed up the code on the sight and forgot to set the year for determine the time. (I tested it on 2 different computers same time and one of them I change the date on to see if that would effect it)

I will not that it time is not pulled from your computer as a lot of sight that use times are so that leads me to beleive something is happening when it clicks over. I have to see if I can get on my brother computer when it does becasue I really want to know what going to happen at that time.

With all that choppy spelling and grammar, are you in actuality a Transformer? :p :D ;)

Well it can't get any worse than the new Star Wars films eh?

Anyway, er - Mars?....as far as i can remember Mars was never a part, even in the slightest, of any Transformers storyline.

Better have the Ark in it.

Yeah, hopefully they do a good job of it - I'd hate for it to become one of those uber-cheesy B-grade films. Or turn out to be something like The Hulk, which just didn't do it for me...

Yeah, I don't remember anything to do with Mars either - the Transformers escaped from Cybertron straight to Earth IIRC. Ah well, some poetic license is acceptable - after all, Megatron and Soundwave are different now too... no more gun and cassette player.

Who was it that said "no energon" please in the TF movie...

um Energon is their power source...

its what the Autobots/Decepticons basically fought over.

Those fancy pearly shiny cubes of "energy".

Frankly, leaving that part of the TF franchise is asking for retaliation.

I never understood the magical shrinking TF though.

Like Megatron and Soundwave....they both shrink to hand size. Made no sense.

Found a good site for those wanting to reminisce about the original movie and series:

http://www.unicron.com/mainpage/unicron/unicron.htm
http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0704/ - friend had this one
http://www.oafe.net/yo/tf_omsup.php - I had this one, flea market!
