Just found a relatively deep scratch on my screen. Le sigh

Scratches on the screen bother me the most so I tend to use tempered glass screen protectors. They don't last long tho and I waste a lot of $ on them.

I just try to see these marks and imperfections as "unique identifying characteristics" - shows that you two have been out and about together going places. lol.

I hate screen protectors and hardly ever get scratches. Normally this would prompt me to obsess over it until I inevitably switch to a new phone. I may try viewing it as the unique characteristic thing. But right now I'm asking myself "is it broken" no... it's an annoyance. Would I get a new car for an annoyance. No. New car. No. granted the price point is much different but still. When you're approaching $1000 for a new phone. Nothing to sneeze at

I take the attitude that there's no point having something if you're too scared/cautious to use it the way you want to.
I'm not reckless with my new iPhone each year but I won't mollycoddle it either. I hate cases and screen protectors as I feel they dramatically decline my user experience.
I got my Jet Black Plus a few days ago and have just been using it like I would any other device, I bought the phone to use it, not preserve it like some ancient artifact.

Glass screen protectors are the best. They feel almost as great as the naked screen and they don't scratch easily. I'm not sure why you waste a lot of money on them - they're super cheap on Amazon these days.

Made the mistake of getting Zagg shield paying $50 ... twice. lol. Both broke with the least amount of force ever.

Anker's tempered glass screen protector lasted the longest for me and it was $9 for 2.

Edit: yeah, I know you can send it in and get a replacement for like $3 - I did this once but it too broke, so I threw it away saying I'd never get a Zagg again. Queue a few months later when I'm at the mall and chatting with the Zagg shield guy. Yep, walked away with a new Zagg and another $50.

Edit2: How much of a tool I am... currently rocking this: http://www.zagg.com/us/en_us/invisi...-6-screen-protector/glass-luxe-apple-iphone-6 but it's definitely standing the test of time for me vs the others.

I think the scratch is good for me. Helps me not treat this phone like its a child. It's just a tool and scratches happen

My 6s plus is one year old, it has a slight bend at the volume button, scratches all over screen and near the lightning port.

It doesn't bother me at all, in fact I don't give a ****

As a rule I look after anything I buy, I was raised that way. But at the same time, it's not some precious irreplaceable memento, it's a phon.... computer and I will use it as such.

I'm not careless, though I do have nerve damage that can spasm without warning an cause things to go flying. So far the worst that's happened from that is an unsuspecting sleeping dog getting a fright when it lands on her big fuzzy butt :D

There's a reason I take out insurance on portable gadgets, something unexpected could happen, hasn't so far but you never know. Buy it, protect it if you must but it's something that's supposed to be used and enjoyed, so might as well do that without worrying about babying it.

I had a nice tempered glass screen protector on my 6s+, and eventually removed it because it ruins the whole feel of the phone. Edge swipes and home button use especially.
I've actually grown accustomed to the cutout for home button use. It doesn't interfere with any use/function & it helps "orient" my hand to how my phone is facing when I'm pulling it out of my pocket.

I got a 6S earlier this year and its the first time i've used an iPhone with a case. I had a 3GS (on contract from O2) that i ran for 3 years and i tried a case initially and hated it so stopped bothering and 2 days with a screen protector that was rubbish. I then had a launch day iPhone 5 that i ran for 3 and a half years and never had a case\screen protector again. It had a few dinks on it but never stopped working. They are far more hard wearing than we give them credit for and can take the odd drop etc.

The only reason i have my 6S in a case now is because i cant hold the thing if i dont...i tried again recently to go without a case and lasted a couple of days before it wasnt a case of dropping it but i found it hard to hold and use so it had to go back in the small thin Spiegen case that i have.

phones are a temporary device, I hate putting cases and screen protectors on phones because it kinda takes away the wow factor hiding it . I do take care of my phones, Im OCD about too many smudges on the screen so Im constantly wiping the display on my shirt. I don't buy insurance because I have a 12 month upgrade plan and if I break the phone I will go just buy another one. I can justify doing this because I don't spend a lot of money on other things, a phone is high priority on my list.

Its my daily mobile communication and info tool when im away from my Mac. Its expensive tool and i do care about it, thats why im using super thin case and screen protector, but in the same time not babying it.

That been said, I dropped it few times since i got it included on the road and sidewalks, picked it up, checked that its working and the screen is in one piece and moved on. If it will break, i'll fix or replace it depends on the damage... after all its just a phone.

ive always babied my phone and treated it like a faberge egg.
While I try to keep things nice and not abuse my expensive toys, err umm tools :p I consider my phone a tool and use it as such. I really don't treat it like a faberge egg as you mentioned.

I don't understand that concept when many people here tend to upgrade their phones annually.

I'm exactly the same.

Perhaps for maximum resale value? I wouldn't know, as I upgrade ad hoc and not annually.

Perhaps, but if you go to Swappa, you'll see so many phones being advertised as Mint and then with the posted photos, its quite obvious that's not the case.

I'm with @Freakonomics101 on this one. Can't count how many times I've seen kids with shattered iphone screens. I baby my phone because I don't have the $ to buy another if it disappeared out of my hands. So, I have AppleCare+ and I put it in a case (even though I don't want to - wish I could be @eyoungren so badly).

Funny, my 6s+ 128GB cost a lot more than my Macbook Air... maybe that's why my Air is nekkid and my phone isn't? lol.

That said, I bought my wife's iPhone and she treats it as well as I do - we both have flawless phones after 2 years - so the "people treat stuff they get for free like crap" doesn't apply to everyone, but sure seems to apply to most imo.

Same case here. Spent $400 on my Late 2010 MacBook Air 128 GB (had 52 charge cycles on it when I bought it in May) and spent $600 on my iPhone 6s+ 64 GB with 12 charge cycles on it (when purchased in June). Although, my Mac also has a leather case on it that protects it rather well. Makes it look nice, too. But my Mac also rarely leaves my house and has never been dropped (yet), but it's not insured. Don't really find the value of insuring it since I don't use it much and it doesn't leave my house. If it was a 2015, heck yeah I would insure it.

And it's your iPhone and your fine with how it's treated. Myself, I can sell my iPhone for maximum value being I take extremely good care my Phone and all my devices for that matter. Everyone is different.

Phones aren't investments. In a few years time they are worthless regardless of what you paid for it.

I just insure it in case I destroy it and take relative care of it. I don't throw it around or anything but you really don't need to baby them.

I use a case to protect the resale value more than the phone. I couldn't care less if it's scratched up in a year but I know someone else will.

You're being a bit too gentle with yours. Even something without IP67 can take rain. It usually doesn't get inside things unless it's really really coming down.

The problem is that iPhone exteriors are not all that resistant to cosmetic damage and Apple keeps emphasizing how beautiful the iPhone is. That makes people neurotic about keeping the device pretty.

I put a TPU case on for grip and dent protection, and a screen protector on too.

I used to be incredibly careful with my phone. I then had a son and I realized that all this care really didn't matter. I still use a case because it gets dropped every once in a while. Otherwise it's fine. Aside from needing a wipe down once in a while it's great.

My wife is way harder in her phones but also uses a case. We just sold her 6s to upgrade for the 7 and didn't get any less front than if it had been left in its original box.

Still, to each their own. My view is that these aren't quite as fragile as I think some people talk themselves into believing. I don't abuse the hell out of a phone but I also don't baby it. I spend much more on a car than a phone and that is also still s tool to me. It gets me back and forth to work, to the grocery store, and sometimes to and from vacations. There are a few scuffs (mostly people careless with their doors) but otherwise our gen year old vehicle looks very good for its age IMO.
