Oh I'm sure it will be. Probably $2,999 to start with a hex-core i7, 256 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM...

I'm not sure about that. I think it will be the top model 8 core, 16/512GB, but more like ~3200, maybe even have the standard top BTO CPU for slightly more, ~3400. I don't think they drop the base specs on the 16 to the bottom of the 15. I think its going to go in a purely upward direction, a bit more like the iMac -> iMac Pro.

Which makes sense, I think. It's a re-design, which warrants an event, but there isn't enough change for a Mac-only event (in 2016, the Touch Bar took up most of the event's time).

Agree, its a single new product with what looks to be just a couple of smallish changes, reduced bezels allowing for a larger screen (maybe slight change to the footprint required) with probably better characteristics they can tout, and scissor key board which they probably don't want to overstate because in doing so they'd be simultaneously throwing their existing butterfly keyboards under the bus. They have to say something, but it won't be a ton.

Good. Hey Apple, I'm waiting for that Apple Card invite. Get on that!

Here's hoping for a matching monitor that is realistically priced (really don't want to have that ugly LG monitor on my desk)

The screen is excellent. The matte black frame just disappears around it. I have a 4k one. Unless they do make their own non-$6-7000 monitor, I'll be buying the new 5k LG along with my 16-incher.

Here's to hoping for a return to the 2015-era MacBook Pros! Absolute perfection at the crossroads of design and utility.
Haha.

Here's hoping for a return to the scissor switch keyboard and a fond farewell to butterflies.
Hahahaha.

Here's hoping for a return of reasonable priced and speced machines.
Hahahahahaha.

Here's hoping to easy access for user-replaceable SSD, RAM and battery.
You do realize the reason RAM and storage isn't upgradeable is because they're both soldiered on to the logic board. They could easily make RAM accessible, but they're not going to. The machines would need to be MUCH bigger than they are to even allow for that. Never gonna happen. Not in a million years. Quit your dreaming.

I just bought a 2019 15" MBP, and I am so *not* frustrated. This 16" MBP most likely is going to cost way more $ than what I just bought, and it also likely won't be any faster. The only way I'll get buyer's remorse on my new MBP is if the new keyboard includes a function key row with real, physical keys. Then I might feel a pang or two...

You're right, they'd probably choose the middle 15" configuration as the base for the 16". That means an 8-core i9 2.3 GHz, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. Entry price rises to $3,299 at least.

The 16" macbook....minus the "pro"...is what im expecting based on all the current rumors. My guess is that the "pro" was assumed based on screen size...which is a silly assumption.

I keep saying it looks highly probable they are preparing a lower tier machine, because of the ever so slightly different display size and technology. Hopefully it still has "pro" level performance....and an ESC key!

It is still a little early to say, "I told you so," but i think we are getting closer. ;)

Ok let’s start guessing.

2999 base price.

What do you think the base price will be?
Do you think it will miraculously still have a 256GB ssd?

I feel your pain brother. Should’ve held a couple more months. Then again, I really needed mine

I dont think this new machine is a replacement or a direct competitor. So if the machine you just bought suites your needs, it will likely still be the right machine for you even after this new one is revealed.

Will the batteries and hard drives be glued to the chassis? Will this be fixable by third parties? Will there be more ports? Will Apple get rid of the touch bar? As usual we get pretty pictures but no substance.

"Long Live Louis Rossmann."

Managed to bag one of these early 2015 models before they decided to remove every usable port. Still runs sweet as a nut and was a fair price for what it can do. Im hoping they bring it back too.
