I wish you luck with battery life. I hope for your sake it is only an hour difference. I had both a 6 (work) and 6 Plus (personal) and the most usage I ever got out of the 6 was about 7 hours with 13-14 of standby. The 6 Plus I never had less than 12 hours usage/22 hours standby. My 6s Plus is at 71% right now, off the charger since 11AM and has about 5.5 hours usage right now. My 6s, off the charger at 9AM died at 6:30PM with 7 hours and 11 minutes of usage.
Ya know, I hear that a lot on here, but in the test I've seen under the same conditions, the difference isn't that much.

For example:

and

http://bgr.com/2015/09/29/iphone-6s-iphone-6-plus-battery-life/

I had a busy day today (on the road a lot using maps) and I'm at 5hr 49min usage/12 hr 53 min standby with 18% remaining.

I used edge s6 +(same size as 6s plus screen) the trial for a month and did a full conversion without using my iPhone (sold it). It was usable but too big. Also could not carry it around in the pocket as it was too big.
the edge 6 plus? Huh? That phone fit fine in my pockets and I wear slim fit jeans and regular shorts. That phone size is what the 6+ should be.

If your talking about the 6+ ignore my comment. That phone is huge.

I agree. Those Plus pluses are great on paper and an obvious choice if all things are equal. However, for me - I had to decide how much those features would benefit me in the real world.

A big screen is better for say watching movies, but do I really want to watch them on a little 5.5" screen vs my laptop which I comfortably sit 2-3 feet away from? Nope. I've watched perhaps one movie on a phone.

A better battery is always nice, but how often am I away from a power source for extended amounts of time? Not very often. Both phones will easily get me through the day and that's the most important thing. Typically when I go out it's to do something - not to spend 4-5 hours on my phone. Granted, there are always times when I forget to plug in my phone and in those circumstances, the extra battery power comes in handy. Even the plus will have that happen though...just not quite as often.

Image stabilization is nice too, but I never really saw a difference in image quality. Granted, I certainly don't have an eye for photography - to me, my 4s took good enough pictures.

I never use landscape.

1080p sounds better and probably is for those that know why, but to my eyes what I see on the 6s and 6s+ looks the same.

like I said it's all personal preference and personal use, for you it sounds like the 6s clearly is the better phone for your needs from the way you've made it seem. I definitely would encourage you to go that route if you just want to use it as a phone.

I used my smaller iphones in the same way you did until the Plus. I almost went with the regular 4.7 but when I was upgrading it was hard for me to justify spending hundreds of dollars on a new phone that barely did anything THAT much more better than my old phone. Like you said, not on paper but in real world use.

I said if I was going to upgrade to the next "smartphone". I really wanted to use it as a full smartphone instead of just a phone or else why was I spending hundreds of dollars for ? After using the Plus for a while, I clearly feel like I'm using a real smartphone because the screen really upgraded the experience. Otherwise I would just have spent hundreds of dollars to continue to just make calls and texts and only fractions of seconds faster.

I dont like watching full movies either on anything other than a big screen HDTV, so I mostly used the Plus for short netflix episodes while in bed, reading in Ibooks, and Youtube videos. It also has just made browsing on Safari MUCH better. Like I said it really made me use the phone more to its' potential which is what I needed to justify the upgrade.

Before I use to want to get off my phone very quickly because the screen size annoyed me, now the beauty of the 5.5 screen can sometimes have me on it longer than usual.

but once again, if the smaller screen is what suits the way you use your phone then hey, that's the one for you.

Large phone wasn't meant for ONE HAND. It was meant to be used as TWO hands.
You're probably right. However, my unofficial definition requires one handed operation to be labeled a phone. I never knew how much I love using one hand until I had a phone that made one hand operation annoying. If you sit at a desk all day, two hand operation probably doesn't matter, but I never sit at a desk.

So I bought a 6s Plus last week, but I just can't get used to the size. The phone is simply too big and clumsy in the hand - trying to whip it out quickly and use with one hand requires constant balancing and hand readjustments to reach the entire screen. I end up balancing the phone on my fingers which is a sure fire recipe for drops. When I need to reach the upper 25% of the screen I kinda slide/bounce the phone down in my hand...then slide/bounce it up when I'm done. The reach-ability thing feels like an extra step I'd rather not do - and it just doesn't feel natural on a touchscreen where my thumb wants to reach out and touch what I want without thinking. It's almost impossible to hold the phone up and use it one handed while laying down (like in the recliner while I'm watching TV). Using one hand to check something quickly in the car or messing with maps is just annoying!

Another issue I have is that pulling out the plus is almost a public event rather than a personal matter. The phone is so big that I feel like anyone near me can see what I'm doing. With the 6s you can sorta cuff it in your hand with a secure grip like the easy-to-one-hand 4 or 4s - it's really not that much bigger feeling to me (0.9" taller/0.33" wider/.09" slimmer). The 4.7" has that natural extension of the hand feeling which I feel is essential for a phone. It doesn't feel like it could get away from me. I can't see the 6s being hard to one hand for anyone with at least an average size woman hand.

And what about cases? I'm one of those that like to keep my expensive phone in pristine condition - how do you folks use a 6 plus with a case that adds say 1/4"+ to the width? I only used the plus without a case, but I can't imagine how bulky it must feel with a case that offers decent protection.

I can understand the plus being a tablet substitute for some, but I just don't see it happening for me. I don't have a tablet, but instead of using the plus like one, I'd rather get on my laptop. Phone on the go/killing time and laptop for when I want to get stuff done (like typing up this post). I NEVER used landscape on the plus or any other phone - granted I'm not a gamer.

The 6s takes good enough pictures for me and I'm guessing 90% would never see a difference. I can't see a difference based on what I've seen.

The screens look the same to me.

IMO, the 6s would be the perfect phone if it had a slightly bigger battery. Relative to the Plus, in test I've seen online, the 6s and 6s plus are separated by only an hour or less. That's not really game changing...especially if you always carry a charger in your car.

It was fun 6s+, but tomorrow I'm switching you out for the 6s.

BTW - I'm no tech geek so take it easy on me.

Unless you have small hands, the 6+ is a must IMO.

That bigger screen makes it a hand held computer in many ways and is worth it for me.

Too each his own.

I am one of those who have tiny small hands and also love the bigger Plus phone.

this is true but just like with the previous generation is that small difference in ratio even noticeable without looking really hard for it ?

I haven't really noticed it or heard many other people say much at all about it. Alot of people do speak on the 1080p difference though.

I never noticed the difference when looking at the two screens, but if you're listing the pros and cons of each, might as well give the 6s its due.

The plus is definitely not for everyone... I love mine and feel the 6 is just too small for my aging eyes. I also got rid of my ipad because I felt I didn't need it any longer with the 6+

I have decent sized hands (can palm a basketball for example), but I didn't like it. For those who say the plus is meant to be a two handed device - I'm guessing you'd like the 7 to be 6" or maybe larger? The Plus does fit in most pockets with room to spare.

That's one of the things I wonder about. I've read a few people saying the plus is a bad tablet...certainly a better tablet than the 6s, but nevertheless a bad tablet (too small). For me it didn't feel like something I'd want to use at home for a long time if better options were handy.

Lol...there are like 100 I tried the 6s plus threads with people venting about how big the phone is. Flash News Alert::: Yes it's BIG!

Advice to the OP... Don't vent, just bring it back, no matter what anyone says here your hands aren't magically going to grow tomorrow. If the phone is too big for you it's too big. For us that use it it's a normal everyday thing for us. I have a case on mine, I have a bunch that I own actually, mostly TPU cases, and a few bumper cases with the matte frosted back. Adds hardly anything to the phone by the way.

Get a 6 and call it a day.

Had the 6 Plus for a year. Got the 6S Plus. Can't imaging going down to the 6 size and anytime I handle someone's older 5 it feels so tiny and hard to type on. My wife got the 6S and while that is nice, I can't see going to that considering how used to the screen real estate and keyboard I am. Typing doesn't feel crammed. I didn't use a case on my original iPhone, 3G, 4, or 5. The 6 Plus and 6S Plus are the first that I have simply because they are so thin and slick. I went both times with a Spigen Thin-Fit (Perfect-Fit) in clear. I also put on the BestSkinsEver Kolorit Skin in Redwood and then snap the case on. Great look. The Spigen gives me a little better grip, slides in and out of my pocket very well. And since I got my Apple Watch for Father's Day, I don't need to use my phone as much, but when I do, I appreciate having the larger screen.

Now all that said, when the 6 and 6 Plus were announced last year, I was of the opinion that a 5" or 5.1" would have been the perfect screen size for the 6 and the 6 Plus should have been a true phablet at 5.7" similar to the Samsung Notes. At that point I would opt for the 5 or 5.1 but at 4.7 I felt like I didn't want the smaller screen, especially when it means giving up battery life and a few other features.

However, it all comes down to personal preference. And if you don't feel comfortable with the Plus, then enjoy the 6S. I think that's kinda why they make two sizes now.

That's one of the things I wonder about. I've read a few people saying the plus is a bad tablet...certainly a better tablet than the 6s, but nevertheless a bad tablet (too small). For me it didn't feel like something I'd want to use at home for a long time if better options were handy.

I'll also say that I use it quite a bit, but I don't grab my MacBook Air when I need a computer, I go to my 27" iMac. I prefer a desktop, real keyboard and screen size. I'm not a sit on the couch or in bed with a laptop. In those instances I use my phone.

If that's the case...then of course you wouldn't want plus version. I have 6 plus..and loving it. That's because i'm using both hands to navigate through apps and safari...and etc.

The telling OP comment is the 'Public event' one. I've had a plus for a year, and I can tell you mine has NEVER been even noticed by anyone. Everyone has these big phones now.

Actually, a small phone might get my attention :D

It's all preference and trade off

you either pick

- big screen
- better battery
- image stabilization
- landscape home screen
- 1080 P

or

- easier handling.

for me I had to have the bigger screen. Things like browsing, netflix, reading, youtube, etc are not very enjoyable and almost unbearable to me on a smaller screen, I'd much rather just wait to get to my PC. The bigger screen actually makes it worthwhile to do these things which makes me fully utilize the smartphone regularly to its' full potential rather than just for calls and texts.

Let's be fair, with the 6s you also get a higher contrast ratio on the screen.

6S is also $100 cheaper (might be bigger depending on your country

When I had a 6+ I used a thin phone case with a screen protector. I had the blue tech 21 evo mesh. That
was my favorite case. Now if you use a otterbox, then it gets way too big.

We still have these threads? Since the 6 and 6 plus have been out for a year why are people still having this debate and posting about the fact they bought the wrong device, despite having a year to pop into stores and check them out?

I could understand these threads last year when people had to make a decision blind if they pre-ordered, but now?

There's obviously a considerable demand for bigger phones, that's why Apple broke with tradition and introduced the Plus iPhones.

If you don't like the Plus iPhones, jog on and don't look back. You weren't the intended target customers anyway.

But yes, a 5.0" to 5.2" iPhone is just about optimal.

Like I've said always: if one-handed operation is important to you, get the 6S.

For people who're used to big phones (e.g. Android phones), the 6S Plus feels natural. On the contrary, the 6S feels too small and restrictive.

One man's meat is another man's poison, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, YMMV, yada yada blahbity blah.
I got the iPhone 6+ last year after using several large android phones. The iPhone 6/6S+ is much bigger than most android phones. The only android phone bigger, is the the nexus 6. I am not talking about screen size, but the over all phone. The iPhone 6S+ is just huge, and I gave up and went with the iPhone 6S this time around.

Apple has got to change the form factor for the plus. The top and bottom bezels have got to get smaller. There are plenty of 5.5 inch phones around that feel much small than the plus. The Note series feels much smaller than the plus. If Apple are going to continue down this road of super large phones, they really need to work on the feel in hand.

The Plus is not meant to be a one handed device. It can be for some, but it was never designed to be. .

The 6S wasn't meant to be either. That would be the 4S and perhaps the 5/5S. Hopefully Apple can make such a form factor that focuses on one handed use in the future.

I never understand why people feel the need to share their personal anecdotal evidence on the Internet and then present it as fact. Everyone has different wants and need. That's why there's two different sizes.

To find others who agree with their decision. I think they do it to make themselves feel better about their decision.

The 6s+ is too big. Most, simply accept the size because they want the better battery life or 1080p. I won't disagree that a bigger screen is nice. But, I hated it because it was too big with all the bezels, and I had to adopt new carry patterns to accommodate it. I went from 6+ to 6S and I am very happy. I now have a pocket phone. Grab and go. The display is great. I just got 4 hours usage and 88 hour standby on the latest charge. Perfect for me.

The only Apple FU to the 6S customers is the fact that it has software based camera stabilization instead of hardware. No reason for Apple to have done this since a main selling point for either model is the camera.
