It's all preference and trade off

you either pick

- big screen
- better battery
- image stabilization
- landscape home screen
- 1080 P

or

- easier handling.

for me I had to have the bigger screen. Things like browsing, netflix, reading, youtube, etc are not very enjoyable and almost unbearable to me on a smaller screen, I'd much rather just wait to get to my PC. The bigger screen actually makes it worthwhile to do these things which makes me fully utilize the smartphone regularly to its' full potential rather than just for calls and texts.

Plenty of people utilize the smaller iPhone to its fullest potential for the things they want to do. Both have the same features just in a smaller size. The battery in the smaller iPhone is enough or they carry a battery pack or charger in the car. They do not just talk and text and it is so much easier to carry and handle.

Strain on eyesight? I think that line of reasoning is slightly overblown. For nearly a decade people have used iphones 4" or smaller. I think you'd have to have pretty poor vision if a 4.7" screen causes strain. Not long ago 4.7" was a rather large phone. It's not THAT much smaller than the very popular 5.0" models offered today.

Well I understand your point. But for all of those years trying to watch a movie on that small of a screen was difficult, processing photos on that size of the screen was a little bit difficult and this is when I did not own an iPad. I guess I'll have to explain how I use my phone which is probably going to be way different from everybody else. I take a lot of photographs on my phone and use a lot of processing applications to process those photos on this phone and I constantly look at photo forums and photo websites and share photographs with a lot of people. I also watch movies on my phone and browse the web. So I guess if you're not processing a lot of photos or watching movies, and just using your phone as a phone to check email and make phone calls then I guess a smaller screen would be right up your alley, but not mine.

I never understand why people feel the need to share their personal anecdotal evidence on the Internet and then present it as fact. Everyone has different wants and need. That's why there's two different sizes.
Welcome to the Internet!

To all who are indecided on a 6s Plus or 6s, Steve Jobs already made that up for us: the first 3.5" iPhone and the first 9.7" iPad.

When iPhone 6 is out, I feel Apple is either too concerned with Samsung competition or too greedy (read: maintain a huge profit margin with big screen).

I rather see them back to basic: a 128gb 5s with A9 2G RAM at $649 max
I think that would be a cool little phone!

I wouldn't have one but i think it's a good female device - you don't need to worry about carrying or putting it in a pocket, just drop it in your bag.

Like I've said always: if one-handed operation is important to you, get the 6S.

For people who're used to big phones (e.g. Android phones), the 6S Plus feels natural. On the contrary, the 6S feels too small and restrictive.

One man's meat is another man's poison, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, YMMV, yada yada blahbity blah.

The 6s plus is 5.5" tho. Most big Android phones are 5"-5.2". The plus is too wide with long bezels.

Now if your talking about the Note 3 also see 4, even the Note 5, that's a phablet true feel without the awkwardness of the 6 Plus(series). Maybe the 7 will have lower bezels.

I got the iPhone 6+ last year after using several large android phones. The iPhone 6/6S+ is much bigger than most android phones. The only android phone bigger, is the the nexus 6. I am not talking about screen size, but the over all phone. The iPhone 6S+ is just huge, and I gave up and went with the iPhone 6S this time around.

Apple has got to change the form factor for the plus. The top and bottom bezels have got to get smaller. There are plenty of 5.5 inch phones around that feel much small than the plus. The Note series feels much smaller than the plus. If Apple are going to continue down this road of super large phones, they really need to work on the feel in hand.

The Note 5 is much easier to handle and carry around than the Plus I had last year. If the Plus continues in its current size, I will never get another one.

I have seen some tiny women with the Plus - I guess they've totally given up on one handed use and see it as a tablet that's stored in their purse (which also makes call/text when need be).

Yep that is why I went with the iPhone 6S. I really wish they would beef up the smaller phones to meet the plus because with the form factor they are using now, I will not be using the plus again. The cons way out weight the benefits you get from the plus.

If you're like me, you struggled trying to decide between the larger and smaller phone. The plus is the plus. The big daddy. Top of the line. I tried to love it, but using the plus for a while allowed me to have that "aha moment" where I thought despite this, that and another - it just doesn't perform as a phone in the way I use a phone. Once a phone's use as a phone is compromised - little differences mean nothing. It feels good to have made that decision and see if anyone else feels the same.

Trust me I did, so your post was very welcomed. You helped kill my mind battle. From your OP, the Event part was so true, even if know one was behind you, you felt someone still could see. I feel I will wait for the 7 plus, hopefully they lower the bezels. I can deal with the widith.

Perhaps a small minority of iphone users are like me and don't keep up with what's new - we just want a reliable phone that works so well we can forget about it. I go in a Apple store perhaps 1-2 times per year - definitely not enough time to know what kind of phone I can live with long term. I held the plus a few times before buying it and despite it not being a natural fit in my hand I bought it anyway. I decided to do a little reading here and several people said after a few days you get used to it. That didn't happen for me.

And while having the Plus last year I never got "use to" carrying it while not in use. It is one of the bigger deciding factors in not getting another this year so much so that now I have a 6s.

So I bought a 6s Plus last week, but I just can't get used to the size. The phone is simply too big and clumsy in the hand - trying to whip it out quickly and use with one hand requires constant balancing and hand readjustments to reach the entire screen. I end up balancing the phone on my fingers which is a sure fire recipe for drops. When I need to reach the upper 25% of the screen I kinda slide/bounce the phone down in my hand...then slide/bounce it up when I'm done. The reach-ability thing feels like an extra step I'd rather not do - and it just doesn't feel natural on a touchscreen where my thumb wants to reach out and touch what I want without thinking. It's almost impossible to hold the phone up and use it one handed while laying down (like in the recliner while I'm watching TV). Using one hand to check something quickly in the car or messing with maps is just annoying!

Another issue I have is that pulling out the plus is almost a public event rather than a personal matter. The phone is so big that I feel like anyone near me can see what I'm doing. With the 6s you can sorta cuff it in your hand with a secure grip like the easy-to-one-hand 4 or 4s - it's really not that much bigger feeling to me (0.9" taller/0.33" wider/.09" slimmer). The 4.7" has that natural extension of the hand feeling which I feel is essential for a phone. It doesn't feel like it could get away from me. I can't see the 6s being hard to one hand for anyone with at least an average size woman hand.

And what about cases? I'm one of those that like to keep my expensive phone in pristine condition - how do you folks use a 6 plus with a case that adds say 1/4"+ to the width? I only used the plus without a case, but I can't imagine how bulky it must feel with a case that offers decent protection.

I can understand the plus being a tablet substitute for some, but I just don't see it happening for me. I don't have a tablet, but instead of using the plus like one, I'd rather get on my laptop. Phone on the go/killing time and laptop for when I want to get stuff done (like typing up this post). I NEVER used landscape on the plus or any other phone - granted I'm not a gamer.

The 6s takes good enough pictures for me and I'm guessing 90% would never see a difference. I can't see a difference based on what I've seen.

The screens look the same to me.

IMO, the 6s would be the perfect phone if it had a slightly bigger battery. Relative to the Plus, in test I've seen online, the 6s and 6s plus are separated by only an hour or less. That's not really game changing...especially if you always carry a charger in your car.

It was fun 6s+, but tomorrow I'm switching you out for the 6s.

BTW - I'm no tech geek so take it easy on me.

I can understand your frustration as the larger 6s Plus is not for everyone. From what you've said it looks like the 6s would best serve your needs.
The Plus happened to work out perfectly for me, even though I have small hands, I never "one handed" any of my phones so that wasn't an issue. You were right about the cases though. I never quite understood why someone would get a nice looking thin phone then cover it with a bulky heavy cover. Personally, I only needed something to protect the back against scratching when placing it on a surface. So, I when with Incipio's Feather Ultra Thin Snap-On case. I'm mentioning it, here, because you might want to look into it for your 6s when you get it.

This is the same feeling I had. The 1 hand operation of the 6S is a feature I use far more then the other features of the 6 plus.

I like to keep my phone pristine as well, and am able to do it without adding 1/4" to the phone size. Good grief, what case are you using?

Glad I could help a little. Trust me, it was a mind battle for me too. And yes, I value my privacy or at least the feeling of privacy - sometimes I'm flat out looking/reading stuff that I don't want others to see.

I listened to those that said you wont even notice the size after a few days - not true for me. At times I'd try to convince myself that it wasn't bad and it's starting to feel natural, but that was usually while sitting down using it with two hands. That's just not the way I use a mobile phone most of the time.

Will that lower the Bezels as well? :D
By the time Apple trims down the bezels people will still complain: "Why didn't Apple just keep the phone so large to accommodate more battery. Why would they trim the bezels down and reduce the battery size. I would rather have a big ass phone with crazy battery life than a bezel-less form over function piece of ****!"

I'm just guessing, but if you add up the thickness of most medium duty cases at the top/bottom/sides, I'm guessing it isn't far off from 1/4" - and when a phone is already unwieldy - who wants to add more bulk/volume/weight?

The Plus isn't for everyone ...

KWiigDoonese124May12.jpg

Exactly, if you have hands like the woman above, or the guy from the Burger King commercial, or just smaller hands in general, then obviously the Plus will be too big for you. However, I notice many women are fine with it, as they may keep their Plus in their purses, ad use 2 hands with it. To each his/her own. I found it awkward when I first got it last year, but it took just a few days, and it was fine for me.

The whole public event thing is interesting. When I'm sat indoors on the sofa streaming football to the phone, I'm pretty certain no strangers will knock on my front door to point and laugh at the size of my phone ;)

It's all about personal comfort. Said it many times, willing to sacrifice the ease of one handed use for a majestic screen.

I have medium-large hands length wise.

For me, I'll do the sports watching on a 50"+ TV while using both hands to eat, cheer or occasionally check my phone - the phone's main purpose is to use when out and about.

I'm taking a deep breath and trying the 6S+ for my 14 days, now 7 days thanks to his holiness the Pope and delivery delays.

I'm still very much a believer that phones should be one-handed use devices. But I pre-ordered Plus mainly for the OIS camera, better PPI screen, and extended battery life (even though bigger screen takes away battery faster, Plus is still reported to have a couple xtra hours of use).

Lower battery life is a given, for a smaller device. And that's no issue for me, as I have worked around that just fine with my previous iPhones.

But I hate Apple for forcing us to compromise one-handedness for technological decisions. If the 6S (non-Plus) had the camera OIS, it would have been a no-brainer that would have been my perfect device. The non-Plus screen is still pretty great, even being lower PPI.

It's a shame that most apps do not take advantage of the Plus bigger screen. This is both the fault of developers (as many Apple apps take advantage of the landscape size of Plus) and Apple (iOS is just not flexible enough above having rows of pre-spaced app icons). It makes no sense to me that a little Twitter status update has to engulf the whole Plus screen, no different than on the non-Plus screen. And that alone makes the loss of one-handed use feel most painful.

I'm a flexible guy, and I love being blessed to afford the best of Apple every 2 years when I upgrade. So when I pre-ordered, I chose the Plus knowing these compromises, and figured that I'd adapt. I have a week left to find out if that's true.

And how do you carry it around when not in use? The darn Plus felt like I had an extra body part when in pockets! :)
