Could you please just confirm for certain that the mount attaches to the legs with a standard sized camera tripod screw? Don't want the legs, but would like to buy one to attach to my Gorillapod. Thanks.

Any if anyone knows why i could just buy an adjustable mount like this by itself to attach to a standard tripod, that would be great.

He already confirmed this twice earlier in the thread. Here's one of those responses.:

Exactly :) The mount unscrews with a finger-wheel screw, and it can be placed on any standard tripod.

I spent hours looking for another option that was "mount only" and at the moment, all that's out there is already listed in this thread. To me, it was worth $7 (free shipping) to go with this one even if I don't need the included legs. Doubt you'll find anything cheaper on the market right now. Maybe in a few more months?

FYI--as of a few days ago, there were no US based sellers on eBay for this product; only Taiwan and Hong Kong, so leave yourself plenty of shipping time if you want one of these for an upcoming trip or event. My eBay seller shipped the next day, but there's no tracking info. Estimated time to ship to the US was 7 - 14 business days, so it may not arrive for some time yet.

FWIW, the $7 one I've been posting about, and purchased from the eBay seller showed up in a week ... :)

I just ordered it from eBay. I'll compare it to my DIY unit. It seems to work well, but this definitely looks better and will be cheaper. Hopefully it shows up sooner than later.

Tripod for iPhone4

Bubo's kind of a horrible brand name.

Makes me think of the plague.

You are correct. But I know where they get this name from, or at least I think I do. There was a movie that came out in the 70s called Clash of the Titans. No, not the modern one as all movies that seem to come out these days are just remakes anyway. But the good one that came out in the 70s. Anyway, Persueus (the main character) had a side-kick robotic flying OWL named 'Bubo'. I think this name is so catchy, myself and genius. Bubo was a cute little owl that was a steadfast friend of the hero of the movie from the beginning to the end. I imagine that is what the thinking was when they tried to figure out what the name for this product would be as they wanted it to be a side-kick for the iphone that you could trust to be there. I know, cheesy but made me chuckle a little bit. Take care.:p

Even though that $7 tripod listing says it's only for phones, they also have a picture of a digital camera on the tripod. That leads me to wonder if cameras can be mounted on this thing as well. I have a Canon Powershot SX110 IS and I find it difficult to picture the camera being held on that, but all the better if it does.

Also looks like they have the tripod here for a little cheaper: http://www.meritline.com/mini-table...-holder-for-mobilephone-s2120w---p-49111.aspx

So this isn't directly related to the eBay Tripod, but here is a fun video I shot this morning. I shot it on a full-sized tripod with the iPhone mount ( http://bit.ly/aCJjVh ), trimmed it in iMovie for iPhone, processed it in CinemaFXV for iPhone, then uploaded it to Vimeo from my iPhone in HD 720P using PixelPipe.

It's only 14 seconds, but shows off the nice video quality of the iPhone 4 :)

Beat you by 4 posts. :D Look up!

dredd: I ordered the same $7 ebay tripod a week ago and still waiting for it arrive stateside. My question is will it be solid enough to use mounted in a car for driving footage? It's one thing to use a little tripod for standstill recording, another thing entirely to use the mount in bumpy, high-speed driving. I just want to use the mount without the legs and am worried about vibrations induced by the neck of the mount or the clamp itself. I'm not expecting much for $7 but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised...

I REALLY hope you didn't believe it was only for phones and were surprised to see a camera on there. It would work with anything that fit in the holster.

I was so close to getting one of those when I had a SW tank. Cute little fella!
Were you ever on nano-reef?

The top of the Tripod mount moves up and down and grabs the phone to hold it in place. It feels like it is pulled down by a rubber band inside or a spring. Either way, when the phone is inserted, it's pretty hardcore snug. I can shake it all around with no worries about the phone coming out.
